The China Daily newspaper said on Friday that the CSRC was probing investors who used stock index futures to "short" the market - or bet on prices falling.
Sources with direct knowledge later told Reuters that the China Financial Futures Exchange (CFFEX) had suspended 19 accounts from short-selling for a month.
As I posted already: 2 SHORTs seliing and covering to each other. Manipulation at its finest. However, SEC is government ....
Why don't you contact a lawyer ? In case, you have some evidence, he will be happy to organize a huge class action.
HFTs (also) need statistics about usual trading activity, to decide, how much to invest to drive down/up PPS. You see the typical trading pattern: Buy a few shares, and then sell them. As yesterdays statistics confirmed low standard volume, with some pennies loss HFT can drive down PPS. And HFT can estimate, how expensive it will probably will be to drive down PPS a certain amount.
Applied statistics. A former friend of mine (Russian physics) joined Deutsche in Moscow couple of years ago already, to develop such things. much better paid than research :-) (Experimental physics needs a lot of statistics, so these guys are very well suited )
Not really, I guess. HFT needs some new market statistics, to extrapolate new strategies.
I consider it positive. Tells me, that the "Big Guys" desparately want to pick up cheap shares. Must be a reason for this :-)
