Dow down as much as 65 and closed up 50. Most coal stocks did nothing. WLT closed at another multi year low. Like NRP they are very big in met coal. NRP had a good move up. Probably because the distribution is only 18 days away.. Natural gas was up earlier but closed down. Warm weather is here!!!

Dow down 165. NRP and most other coal stocks up slightly. NRP recovered all of yesterday's loss earlier but is falling back now. Coal shares being helped by natural gas price which is back above $4. Hope NRP can hold the gains.
For two years NRP shares have fallen while revenue, income and distribution increased. Have recovered a bit but with just 20 days till ex date the shares have lost 60 cents over the past two days. That's a nickle more than the distribution that will be paid. Also, and just recently, analyst have issued many favorable comments. Hard to make sense of it. Would bet that we will lose more before ex date. Dow and natural gas had a good move up today. A few of the coal shares were also up.
NRP traded more than 100,000 shares in the last 20 minutes (almost half of the days trading).

Analyst say that the big drop in coal stock prices yesterday was caused by the drop in the manufacturing index and the 10% drop in new factory orders. Some analysts are now saying that coal recovery won't come until 2015.
Panelist on CNBC's Fast money says that the crash in US Steel stock (dropped to a five year low today) means that the world wide recovery is in trouble. If steel is in trouble, met coal demand is in trouble. If met coal demand weakens, NRP is in trouble. Almost half of NRP's rev and income comes from met coal.
