I was a long time holder of AB and remember when it was briefly in the $90's and had a very generous payout. Times have changed and the company has slimmed down a lot. I decided to bail out at $32 and replaced it with KKR, similar business, units, a better payout and what I consider to be better prospects. Check them out. Good luck to all AB holders
It's a penny stock and behaving just like one, It only reacts to quarterly news which for GV is usually bad. Little of a positive future here. A loser despite the hype produced by management.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
I agree with you. The only consolation here is that net sales declines, in the 20% range in the prior year, are now in the mid-teens. One has to wonder if management can turn this ship around, which at this stage doesn't appear promising. Indeed, it does appear like a broken record. Still, book value is over twice the sales price and perhaps liquidation is in the cards which would benefit shareholders considering the value of the property they own in China.
Earnings for second quarter ending September 30 announced today. Another loss and sales continued to decline, however and as usual, Deswell declared a regular quarterly dividend of .05 per share. Company is financially sound with no debt and valuable real estate holdings in China. Book value is positive. An investment gamble with minor risk.
I have some. Favorable book value, no debt, but declining sales. Little communciation to shareholders from company and it appears that the dividend has been discontinued. A little risky but I will hold a while longer. For gamblers only.
unless GV picks up a significant contract like STEC. The backlog is attractive but mostly MSA business which isn't going to set this company on fire. Biggest problem with penny stocks is that little happens between quarterly earning announcements. I have owned a few hundred shares for years but have seen very little happen other than the price spurt a couple of years ago only to see it rapidly fizzle out. Foolish to invest in too many shares of a penny stock which is similar to burying money in a can in the back yard. The local casino may even be better. I'm only holding because it's play money and not serious investing which dictate index funds.
