    you keep going at it... but you clearly can't read- provisions aren't for loans going bad- these have been declining for few years now but rather for litigation reserves... big difference since one is for ongoing issues and the other for old staff

    legal settlements aren't small but have a limited shelf life remaining- EMC, Lehman and FHA. The largest two (BAC and WFC) have been settled for ~$6M. The remaining ones are much smaller and now SNF has a $4m reserve that has been already provisioned to settle those...

    They settled the majority of really large issues last year... The remaining are much smaller and they haven't paid much for any of them before just see how much was paid to Wells and BofA. No reason to believe remaining numbers would be scary at this point. I think the provision is actually simply a case of sandbagging. The quarter would have been an absolute monster and they decided to hold the number down a little.
