will the contract with China be expanded? NOK is going to get $900M, will NOK get the other $900M slated for ALU? I know we don't have an answer yet, but that could play a major role if some kind of deal is struck. Maybe NOK takes more of ALU than it would really like, but this China contract makes up for it.
ALU is not operating in a position of strength. They have big burdens to discard and what they have that is not worth $20B. If this is real with NOK, I would think NOK takes the "good" parts of the company and its clients and let the rest of ALU, the French Gov't and their Union work the rest out.
A shell of a company? You kidding, right? If Nokia can deal with the crazy french, then they should do it. But NOTHING is easy with the french. I'm not bashing the french, but it is what it is - I love Paris and the countryside. Always very nice to me.
It seems like buying the good parts of ALU would be the way to go. Dealing with the French and their employment law, unions and gov't are crazy. Lay-off would need to happen, unless the french Gov't subsidizes Nokia for all the dead weight of ALU. But again, that isn't a way to run a company and would be a nightmare for management. This is how French socialism can impact doing business, The Germans don't have this problem nor do the Finns.
But let's see if we can make some money now. We all know of the good news, but my pockets only have money from 2013, I need more so I can make the donuts.
How do you think the 4th quarters earnings will be? On an operating cost due to low gas prices, they should do very well. Why do you sell now when you are in the Red Zone? You can sell to take profits of course, but if not why sell? Also 1st Quarter should be very good as well. Why did you buy at the high anyway - you always wait for a pullback from the high, even if that means you wait for months.
How much does it need to continue? I guess it depends on where you bought it in the first place. So you were down 80%, now you are down 75%.
I don't this was anything surprising. No deal anyway. I bet all of the major players spoke (or are speaking) with LGF. It seems that LGF is in no rush to make any deals and appears to be in the drivers seat. It is always good to know what people might think you are worth, so someday you can get an idea how much you want to sell it for. One thing I must mention, LGF better make some money for its long term shareholders next year. I can understand this year a little more, but not next year. 2013 was a great year for LGF stock, this year was more of a sell off year, where the stock stunk. I guess we shall see - patience is good up to a certain point.
He may, but then he would have to use his real name and we do not know that. Ramimd might be an insider or someone who knows an insider for all we know, I don't believe that though. Monitise has gone largely unnoticed and he thinks long term he got the motherlode, while others are chasing other bigger known stocks, he got on the ground floor with Monitise. So when he is at some grand party someday with some old college mates, he will be known as the Monitise Maharajah. I think for him, but I could be wrong, it is more than the money.
Does anyone want a driver-less car? Would you trust it? No speeding tickets then. Maybe in europe some distance day.
They also have Italy exposure, which is not good at this time. This company is so thinly traded that it is hard to know what is a screaming buy or not, then it is at the whim of the big money. You got to be careful here or you will be burned.
So my portfolio hasn't changed from last year. I'm in neutral.
I think a rebound year next year and in europe. Got to take profits while you can. I tried but it never hit my numbers and wasn't greedy either. If I make 25% I sell a portion of my stock, I never hit those numbers. I thought for sure making 25% in NOK was in the bag, but it wasn't.
Profit, but they are selling low. It isn't like NOK was 10 brought it down to 8.77. I guess any profit is better than no profit. I think panic make people crazy and they do things that they might not have done if they were in there right mind and that is what is going on not only in NOK, but in alot of companies. This may bode well for NOK and others next year, when the pendulum swings to the other side and people are saying the market is too good. We all know that 4th and 1st Quarters will be great for the consumers and those kinds of company that do great with low fuel prices.
NOK stock is on sale, like many other stocks. It is all about oil and short sellers. Mutual funds have taking a hit and 2014 will turn out to be not good, so look for lower returns. Panic is in the Street, but not on Main Street.
but the short sellers are in control and therefore, Nokia's stock suffers and us long types are left hanging making no money. I wish I had a good reason to sell NOK, but I don't, so I guess I hold. Maybe next year we can start fresh and the sellers will take a holiday for awhile.
I am a sad man, especially using my Mom as a reference. If only NOK will be my shining star, I can get out of the basement of my Mother's house and enjoy my freedom. Harley, I'm glad you see my pain.
