I think it could test $7US soon.. just on technicals- flush out the few remaining long term holders who want to sell.. some others who got in at $5-6 might panic and lock in profits... most analysts still bullish on stock in CA, funds bullish on energy, energy in general and LSTMF underowned by funds, they could be buyers as well. I would add at $7 for the 6% yield and undervalued assets. Sold some at 8.25, I was way up on a 12/2013 purchase and the stock seemed ahead of itself technically. Oil/NG also had big run up, summer selloff now, should stabilize soon. If they keep cleaning co. debt/non-core assets up, it seems a juicy takeover spec as well. long term buy for sure. Bea

  • soros pushing PVA sale, argent's ef acres right next to pva's could be positive since buyout or takeover of argent for ef as tuck in acquisition to a PVA acquirer would be cheap now for sure. a lot of minor positives adding up here slow and steady climb from decimating lows w 8% yield while things sort out.

ALL TX OIL/NG/NGL big revaluation w admin decision announced tonight, makes the Eagleford acres even more valuable, possible narrowing of WTI/Brent spread. a big plus for argent for sure. from mktwtch.

Federal officials told two energy companies that they can legally export a kind of ultra-light oil that has become plentiful as drillers tap shale formations across the U.S. With relatively minimal processing, oil shipments could begin as early as August, according to one industry executive involved in the matter.

Using a process known as a private ruling, the U.S. Commerce Dept.’s Bureau of Industry and Security is allowing Pioneer Natural Resources Co. of Irving, Texas, and Enterprise Products Partners LP of Houston to export ultra-light oil known as condensate to foreign buyers who could turn it into gasoline, jet fuel and diesel.

Both companies confirmed they had received the rulings.

Under current rules, companies can export refined fuel, such as gasoline and diesel, but not oil itself. The Administration’s new approach, which hasn’t been publicly announced, redefines some ultra-light oil as fuel after it has been minimally processed, making it eligible for sale abroad

  • another positive for NDRO, maybe more drilling expense short term but the value of all oil in north american just got a big bump!! from mktwatch... Bea

there will be costs from these wells so dist will be uneven at best. I say Pioneer, drill baby drill, they are the premier player, an investment in future production for us who hold long term. I hope they only declare .02 or .03 in a month, it will drive the losers out who don't understand a perpetual trust in it's infancy of prospects and allow me to add. once the wells are drilled and online, the long term capex is minimal and production goes on for quite a while. ala CRT a great perpetual trust and PBT which is seeing some upswing. by buying on dips and w dist my avg cost here is down to under $11.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

3m more pfd-a shares to be sold into the market

yes but you still have to pay the preferred divs of now $22mil a year or almost $2m a month. of course preferred is "equity" vs high cost 11% debt when they took over securities America.. it is a good strategy as long as it does not get out of hand and is accretive to the income statement. as a pfd shareholder I am mildly concerned as they keep driving the pfd down from initial issue price of $25 .. but with company profitable and on an upswing, for now am holding my pfd for great current yield of 9%, better than most high yield and bkln funds, they have to use leverage to achieve this.

  • very low rated notes- bonds and leverage to achieve yield.. the big disc to nav is about the only thing attractive about this now. high yield bonds, bkln's , floating rate notes, all seem toppy to me. on my watch list, if rates spike could present a buying opp at some point.

  • supplemental prospectus filed.. so that would mean 11mil total shares outstanding on the pfd a- proceeds to redeem remaining 11% SA debt of about $40m and for general corp purposes. so they are saving interest expense overall-- but maybe getting greedy w all this pfd issuance?? they can issue up to 25mil of these! now up to 11m paying $2/yr or cost to co of about 8%.. as noted... probably use some to buy back shares too.. I hold pfd, not common, amazes me the financial engineering that goes on in these markets w high yield debt in such demand. LTS seems to be benefiting from all these as investment bankers, oxford lane etc new issues.. they probably push it out thru their LTS and SA advisors.. nothing wrong with that as long as the economy is good...

I think it could test new lows at $7, there is no love here. there hasn't been a bank merger in forever, someone should take this out of it's misery and bid $11, clean it up, drive synergies etc. does not seem like interest rates will be rising anytime soon and they need to earn more on their spread as do most banks. KBE index looks like a double top to me.

oilly what do you think of the mgmt. changes do you think they will cut the dist as sometimes when mgmt. changes occur, new CEO's like a "clean slate" I guess we'll see... they need scale, they should buy/merge Twinbutte, manitok and spyglass to really confuse investors! lol.

    Sentiment: Buy

  • comprised of income and cap gains.. merger of old dividend major fund which was mostly reits but did have some other non reit assets and RFI which was reits. about a 10% disc to nav at current 12.41sh, no updated portfolio yet on merger of funds. no leverage used, fees

  • no material news, 3rd gas well in s tx done, 2 eagleford wells still being completed, capex done soon for 2014, 6300boe day 2nd-3rd q still projected, no new debt taken on, line of credit still at 160k so bankers must be on board. no new news on asset sales/jv front to pay down debt. looks ok, stable, up nicely today.

me too, I am thinking about putting in a limit to buy order for 200sh or so at 21.25 to maybe as high as 21.50 to capture a downdrafts if it occurs and add a little more . currently about 4% of my portfolio and a little more wouldn't hurt, certainly help overall return.

agree, world oil situation is making north American assets very attractive. you can see this with all the sales and acquisitions of land and rights now. I just hope argent does not give away it's eagleford land, while it is on the fringe of the so called best areas, w new fracking methods getting the oil/ng/ngl out should not be a problem. infrastructure is certainly being built out . this should be a very high cash flow quarter for argent as it restructures and refocuses under Elzner and Bovington leadership. those extra barrels they hope to squeeze out of OK/KS etc. at low cost will be helpful as well.

company continues to sell as they are allowed into the market, read somewhere where it could be up to 3m more shares on top of initial 5m sold at the initial offering. since it is a speculative non rated preferred issue, if they dump say 100k on the market you might get a downdraft like today. underlying firm fundies seem to be improving, dividendyieldhunter website seems to think once this 3m is sold by company there is a chance this could go back near par which is $25. it is not callable until 5/2018 and pays .16667 per month. management and their families own shares. I was confused about the conversion issue,,, if someone takes it over parent LTS ,there is a provision protecting pfd owners from being an orphan unrated preferred by forcing them to buy the pfd's too. the company can sell up to 20mil shares per the prospectus, I am guessing there will be about 8m outstanding by year end, the 5m sold initially and 3m or so ongoing sales this year- costing them $16m of divs on the pfd but replacing much higher costing debt on the books with debt/equity pfd. it did recover at the close today.

oh, one bad thing about fidelity, they charge you a $50 trade fee for certain CA stocks including ahotf, if they don't clear thru the direct clearing house, something peculiar to fidelity, then they #$%$ the $50. forgot to mention that. so biggies, like scotiabank or td, no fee, small otc stocks for the most part, $50 fee. stupid. it is always something with these companies.
