The partnership looks particularly significant for SpiderCloud Wireless , as it gives the privately held company, which has developed multimode small cells designed to provide wireless coverage in large buildings, stadiums and office blocks, another major validation from one of the biggest names in networking and opens up a massive new market for its products through Cisco's global sales channels.

Cisco has inked a strategic collaboration with SpiderCloud Wireless to offer its small cell solution under Cisco's Universal Small Cell (USC) 8000 Series which is designed to cater for mobile coverage requirements for large enterprises and venues. The USC 8000 series extends 4G LTE and 3G mobile coverage and integrates to enterprise WiFi networks. In its statement, Cisco said that the solution will be implemented for the first time by Vodafone for its enterprise customers. Enterprise small cell maker SpiderCloud has raised another $20 million in funding, bringing its total raised to date to $125 million.
SpiderCloud Wireless actually raised $15 million in funding in early January, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) , but confirmed an additional $5 million on Monday, bringing this total round to $20 million.
SpiderCloud CFO Tom Scott says the round includes a strategic investment and brings the company's total to $125 million raised since it was founded in 2007. The small cell company will use the funding to "fuel global expansion and support for a growing customer base."

SpiderCloud has been making big moves in the indoor small cell market lately. It is providing Verizon Wireless with dual-mode LTE small cells, Vodafone Group plc (NYSE: VOD) with 3G small cells and is shipping both single-mode LTE small cells and dual-mode 3G/4G devices. The scrappy small cell vendor is also planning major announcements around next month's Mobile World Congress.
