You guys can have a hard time believing this all you want, but it is true.
After I posted this, I continued being called by them so I asked to speak with the manager. I asked her how long I had been a customer and she said since 1991!!! I asked her if I had ever missed a payment before and she didn't say anything, so I reminded her that I had not. Note, we are talking about a customer for over 20 years, with probably well over $100k in purchases who had never incurred a penny in interest charges or penalties. NEVER. My minimum required payment for August was only $100 on a $5000 balance, approximately. My Sept required payment was now about $200.
By this point, they had called me about 20 times, and had called me at home which is nuts as we just moved and have an unlisted number, my cell, and at work. The manager had nothing to say, and I instructed her to cancel the card and to never call me again. I had already scheduled the $5k payment in my bank's online banking system, and I knew it would hit their account the next day, as my bank is small and it takes 5 days sometimes for payments to clear.
I can't believe how this company completely #$%$ on a long term, profitable customer relationship. I suspect they have terrible IT systems, directing them to do stupid things. Anyway, I am only posting this to explain to you longs what happened. I have no position, long or short in this company, and now I will only use my Chase Visa.
