Don't expect everyone to think like you do or agree with you that Herbalife if a terrific investment.
I say it is nothing but a pyramid scheme and I can't believe you own the shares.
I think Icahn put over $1 billion into it because he has a grudge against Ackman and no other
reason. He is expecting Ackman to be forced to cover. I don't really care how that turns out,
although I would like to see HLF waste away to nothing.
I bet your reason for holding the shares right now is you are betting that Ackman will be forced to
cover his short.
Let's compare the performance of HLF with LL starting now and see if LL can beat HLF to death. I
think it should, but that is the key word, should. Very much so.
What is your cost basis on HLF and how many shares do you own? How many stocks have you seen
multiply in share price since you bought HLF? Actually I don't care to know.
If you mark HLF off-topic on this board, I won't respond next time.
"I have 10,000 shares of UVXY and 10,000 shares of AGQ. I should have gone long on Gold. As far as LL, just waiting for them to go BK."
And because The DOW was down 610 points last Friday that means you will be right, how long?
You'd better plss in a cup while constantly watching the market.
"Brexit is suppose to have 2+ years of bad news attached to it."
God, you sound like your' ready to dig a huge hole and bury your
phat ash !
What else is "supposed" to happen?
On the Friday before the crash, the Dow was down about 150 points, which was a lot, way back then.
Some big money investor was asked what he thought and he said, Oh the market will be right back up
The DOW closed down 23% that Monday, so that would be the equivalent of 4140 points from a DOW of 18000 that we have today. That was on top of the 150 point drop from the Friday before.
It is like a dream today to be able to see exactly what is happening and to be able to look for an
opportunity. I didn't even have a computer and there was no internet. Someone correct me if I am
wrong, but I don't believe there was any internet service available to the public.
Commissions were very high back then. I remember the first commission I ever paid was $90
and today it would be just $8.00. They used to get a base price and then a certain amount
per share. I called my broker one day and asked why commissions were so high and he said;
"well I need to make the money so that I can put my two sons through Brown University!"
I kid you not!
We had to always call our broker back then and I called them so many times it wasn't funny!
But it was scary. Peter Lynch in his first book said that one thought that ran through his head
was that the world might be coming to an end ! Lynch sold stocks in Europe before they knew
what was happening, so he could meet redemptions and have a little more cash to pick
up bargains with.
Lynch also said that after the crash, investors were waiting for the crash !
Well we don't know what will happen from here but it will be nice to have access to all the
information to be able to make an informed decision.
P.S. we ended down 610 Friday. -3.39%
Looks like MLM companies are multi-level marketing companies, for those besides me who
should know but couldn't think of it.
If a person had just 2 choices and had to do one or the other:
Become an HLF Distributor or buy lottery tickets, he or she
should buy lottery tickets.
If you buy lottery tickets you are relying on luck.
If you become a new Herbalife Distributor, it just takes longer to figure out
your money is gone.
Car salesman? A car salesman has to buy his own inventory?
As far as I know, he has to just buy some nice looking clothes, but not too
expensive and he needs to have an excellent knowledge of the vehicles
he is selling.
"Pyramid schemes are terrible things — in some ways worse than Ponzi schemes. For one thing, they often involve more money — the direct-selling industry, which includes multilevel marketing, claims that it generates $154 billion in annual revenue and has some 90 million members worldwide. For another, most pyramid schemes take advantage of lower-income people, who are lured in by the prospect of making money while
working from home, only to discover that, as pyramid scheme experts will tell you, 99 percent of the people who participate wind up losing money, and sometimes a lot of money."
Has anyone ever heard of an HLF distributor who makes money selling HLF Products
and without recruiting new distributors?
Herbalife will die eventually; it's just impossible to predict when.
I hope it's Monday, BMO.
No I don't invest based on headlines and inuendo or even innuendo.
I know enough to stay away from HLF, either long or short.
You should mark that filthy shid off-topic or don't even mention it
on this board.
It's too bad that Ackman got involved in shorting it because people
like you want to make money even if they have to invest in Ponzi Schemes.
Just like I keep asking what LL did that was illegal regarding formaldehyde levels,
and never even get a response,
I have asked, and am asking what percentage of new Herbalife Distributors actually make money
without recruiting more new distributors?
Can you believe the difference in the market between yesterday and today?
I was lucky enough to sell something yesterday so I could buy something today.
You are as patient as a well fed, fat cow and you'll probably beat everyone's
Keep in mind that after The Crash Of '87 everyone was waiting for the crash.
This may be quite similar.
They say the rebalance of The russel index is going on at the same time
as this panic.
HLF is doing its thing. Down $4.49 or 7.2%.
Let's keep track of that compared to LL.
LL is at $15.66 down 0.63%
HLF is down 4.44 or 7.12%
Let's see which is the best performer from here on even knowing LL
may suffer from having more illegal carp'.
Sell the Ponzi Scheme and buy what is now a Blue Chip. he he he.
I can't believe you and Cedar own that. Did he follow you or did you
Greenspan acted very concerned today. He said this is worse than October 19,1987 or
The Crash of '87 it was fondly called a little later. I owned stocks but I didn't even have
a pc and there was no internet I don't think.
Well that was quite scary because the DOW was down 23% that day, but it was a great
So will this be known.
To me it's another worry in the wall for the market to climb. How many do we have right now? I've
LL is going to break out this afternoon.
Watch it shorts, she will sneak up on
you and bite like a baztedd
