  • and it has to use its IPO cash to pay off less than half of its debt ?

No money left for expansion ?

On an annual basis, it’s nothing but red ink ?

Pollo Loco loss last year was twice the size of the 2012 loss ?

Already tried to grow beyond its core market — and failed ?

This is what passes for an " investment " ?

    Pathetic !

  • The question is , will Wall Street buy the " new user metrics " spin or simply say it's nonsense ?

"Twitter is reportedly planning to introduce new user metrics to show investors that it has a broad and growing reach even though its base is expanding at a slower rate."

  • "As if to downplay the positive impact of the World Cup event on Twitter's second quarter results, CEO #$%$ Costolo stressed in a CNBC interview that the sporting event – which started on June 12 and went through July 13 – was not behind the pickup in monthly active users (MAUs) last quarter. "

    I do not believe Mr.Costolo .

We'll see what the next two quarters bring .

The fourth quarter , in particular , will be interesting .

Shares of Twitter (ticker: TWTR ) gained 20% Wednesday after the company reported quarterly results late Tuesday that showed both revenue and user growth were greater than expected. But several articles pointed to some real concerns that could undermine the stock in the days and months ahead.

A piece in MarketWatch, for example, pointed out that many social-media experts believe that many of the company's 16 million new users in the second quarter were inspired to log on by a special event—the World Cup.

In other words, many of these users will possibly lighten up on their use of the site now that the monthlong global obsession that got their tweeting juices flowing has ended and won't return for four years. It's certainly a cause for concern.

And Barron's magazine's Andrew Bary wrote on this Website that the company's losses are even deeper than they might appear because analysts and investors continue to ignore the company's massive stock-based compensation expense that Twitter excludes from its calculation of adjusted earnings per share.

    Excerpt - Barron's

  • "A concern for the company’s long-term prospects is that existing users seem to be spending less time on the service. In June, Americans spent an average of 7.2 minutes a day on Twitter’s mobile apps, down from 9.2 minutes a year ago, according to comScore data analyzed by the brokerage firm Cowen & Company.

"That 22 percent drop was the worst showing of any major social app."

    Excerpt - NY Times

    Remenber Enron ?

"Recall the downfall of Enron and the high credit ratings that Enron received from the credit rating agencies."

How about the subprime mortgage crisis ?

"These played a significant role at various stages in the American subprime mortgage crisis of 2007-2008 that led to the Great Recession of 2008-2009. The new, complex securities of "structured finance" used to finance subprime mortgages could not have been sold without ratings by the "Big Three" rating agencies ...."

"The mortgage-related securities at the heart of the crisis could not have been marketed and sold without their seal of approval. Investors relied on them, often blindly. In some cases, they were obligated to use them, or regulatory capital standards were hinged on them. This crisis could not have happened without the rating agencies."

  • Clever Scam - taking advantage of older men. Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it.

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Lowe's or Home Depot customers. This one caught me by surprise. Over the last month, I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say, 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonald's. You agree and they get into the back seat.

On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen June 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also July 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 28th, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at Dollar General and the Dollar Store and bought them out.

Also, you never will get to eat at McDonald's. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Lowe's and Home Depot.

  • "As The Wall Street Journal detailed this month, the percentage of these third-party app users had doubled from 7% one year ago – when stripped out of Twitter’s user count, overall monthly active user growth actually slowed to 3.9% from 4.4% three months earlier. That’s a different story than Twitter’s narrative of accelerating user growth."

" In other words, up to 23 million of its users may not be interacting with Twitter content at all."

Maybe you were sitting next to Don Johnson ....

Blackjack player Don Johnson revealed in a magazine interview how he won $15 million from three Atlantic City's casinos in about five months.

Previously tightlipped about how he did it, Johnson said he played "fair and square" but he did have some favorable conditions when he played single blackjack hands of up to $100,000.

He won $6 million from the Tropicana; from the Borgata, $5 million, and he took $4 million from Caesar's, all between December 2010 and April 2011.
