    This is America?

"Watch out internet, here comes some "Hate Speech Legislation' .... 'hate speech' .... that's pretty fuzzy and open to interpretation. One person might call certain speech 'hate' whereas another would call it free speech and truth ."

"There is very dangerous legislation making its way through both the House of Representatives and Senate that will finish the United States. The sharia bill calls for Islamic blasphemy laws — the criminalization of speech that offends or insults — who, exactly? Well, that is up to the enforcer, is it not? "

"On Wednesday, Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) introduced “The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014″ (S.2219), which seeks “to examine the prevalence of hate crime and hate speech on the Internet, television, and radio to better address such crimes.” Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) introduced a companion bill in the House – H.R. 3878."

"The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014 (S.2219), which seeks “to examine the prevalence of hate crime and hate speech on the Internet, television, and radio to better address such crimes.”

So , peter_parker_cnbc , we all know that what goes on the internet stays on the internet .

In other words , what you've posted is out there and will remain out there .

What will you do when S.2219 comes knocking on your door ?

Dumping your hard drive won't help , moving won't help ; so what will you do ?

Under this Bill you are not only committing a crime but you are also liable for any crimes committed [ by anyone ]
as a result of your writings .

  • Excerpt is from TechCrunch

"Journalist Glenn Greenwald released a bunch of new documents from “the Snowden archive” today to coincide with the publication of his book No Place To Hide. Those documents include a presentation from Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) about obtaining user data from Facebook."

"The presentation is titled, “Exploiting Facebook traffic in the passive environment to obtain specific information” and, according to the book, was given at the Five Eyes conference back in 2011. It describes social networks like Facebook as “a very rich source of information on targets,” including personal details, connections, and “patterns of life.”

    Publicis deal

    ejwhomes and wondering_4_40_yrs ,

According to this excerpt from Reuters , it seems both your posts have merit ....

Under the terms of the deal, Publicis would have access to Facebook user data, enabling it to gauge ad performance on the social network, as well as access to Facebook engineers and other resources to help create special ad units that appear on Instagram, according to Ad Age which first reported the deal on Monday. Ad Age said the deal was worth $500 million.

Facebook declined to comment on the terms of the deal but said in an emailed statement that the partnership with Publicis "will center on bringing clients closer to our products, and creating new planning and measurement tools to make buying easier, more efficient, and ultimately prove out ROI (return on investment)."

  • "WHAT IT'S ABOUT This is billed as TV's most exhaustive investigation into "The Program," the National Security Agency's vast data collection operation. It launched in the hours after Sept. 11, 2001, and would ultimately lead to Edward Snowden's release of millions of classified documents, essentially the largest intelligence breach in U.S. history. Part one mostly explores the history of "The Program," from the Bush administration through the Obama administration ...."

If you're interested , just throw the subject line into your search .

  • "The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track foreign targets, according to a top-secret document obtained by The Washington Post."

"The program, code-named PRISM, has not been made public until now. It may be the first of its kind. The NSA prides itself on stealing secrets and breaking codes, and it is accustomed to corporate partnerships that help it divert data traffic or sidestep barriers. But there has never been a Google or Facebook before, and it is unlikely that there are richer troves of valuable intelligence than the ones in Silicon Valley."

  • Excerpt from BloombergBusinessweek

"Italy will include prostitution and illegal drug sales in the gross domestic product calculation this year, a boost for its chronically stagnant economy and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s effort to meet deficit targets."

"Drugs, prostitution and smuggling will be part of GDP as of 2014 and prior-year figures will be adjusted to reflect the change in methodology, the Istat national statistics office said today."

"Renzi, 39, is committed to narrowing Italy’s deficit to 2.6 percent of GDP this year, a task that’s easier if output is boosted by portions of the underground economy that previously went uncounted."

  • BEIJING: China's ruling Communist Party is launching a new crackdown on popular instant messaging platforms including Tencent's WeChat, state media said Wednesday, the latest in a series of moves to stifle online speech.

The month-long campaign follows a similar clampdown last year on Sina Weibo, a Twitter-like microblogging service whose popularity has been hit as China's censors have tightened their grip.

Actually , chiamenu , PRISM was Published in The Guardian and the Washington Post on
    June 6, 2013 [ not quite a year ago ] .

I'm wondering if you completely understand the ramifications of this program .

Read the articles in the New York Times , the Tampa Bay Times , the Sydney Morning Herald
or any number of other publications dated June 1st , 2014 .

And , then , go back and search all the articles that have been written since the middle of May
    [ 2014 ] regarding this program .
