Maybe everyone besides MSFT know the BOD at NOK is made up of really smart people that you can not get over on. It is a very good question don't know the answer.

Is it laziness or purposeful lying to knock NOK?
Hey that is funny. knock, nok...who is there...it's your purposeful liar
    . What do you want?
We want you to pay us to show you how to invest your money. Better yet give us your money and we will churn it until the commissions eat it all up, what do you think?
You should be in prison, where is the SEC?
Oh their all doing the Goldman Sachs circle jerk!

  • A press release talking about an NSN deal and how hard Israel is to do business in. Big win for NSN, spin it negative. talk about how NSN is 90% of their revenue. No mention that it only represents only 50% of their income. Missed the opportunity to say advanced technologies, while it is only some 10% of their revenue it is some 40% of the net and this is where NOK is going to put a lot of energy. Growing a business that is almost pure profit with the potential to grow to 21 billion plus dollars a year over the next two or three years. I would end every article with that info if I wanted to accurately tell the investing public the truth.

I would normally be in complete agreement with you. My problem with that explanation here is the money that can be earned by companies when they make correct predictions about the market should at least balance the bias of the news. So far the only ones who are talking seriously and correctly are one of the Najarian brothers from Option Monster and the gentlemen that sees an upside possibility of 36 times for patent income. The silence from all other players is speaking volumes.

  • 30600 units of the 2520 may have an electrical shock problem. the fix will come in for some 300 grand and it is top news. Three press releases in a few hours. China approves 7.4 billion dollar sale of D&S and we get 2 press released over two days and one was on a Sunday.
The major players want in! The lights are coming on and they are late to the game. They are buying time to get in and giving those in the know time to get more.
After the MSFT deal closes the conversation will change. Questions will be answered. Who is Nokia? What do they do? How will their business grow and at what rate? As the answers become apparent...this will be a great time!

So far today we have 2 press releases about the 2520 electrical shock problem. Maybe we can beat Nokia down with garbage information about a product that has very few sales and is not Nokia's problem anymore! This is the kind of misinformation the press is feeding to the investment community. We will soon see this kind of c--p go away. It will be fun to watch the scramble for shares when reality comes to light!

Your answer is in the last sentence "even now, most of the mainstream press is still going on about Nokia's devices." Nokia is not in the device business anymore. However the street still looks at them as a handset maker that may or may not survive. Most of us on this MB have figured out that patent income as stated by analysts could increase as much as 36 times! No where on Yahoo Finance or Scottrade is this stated in the ER's. We are looking at the future of what NOK is becoming and the street is still talking about the past. Dodge & Cox, Black Rock and a few others know but even Goldman got out. Thank You Syndeylocks for your wisdom.

Depending on where I look, Nokia has lost 15 cents or 23 cents or they made 5 cents or 8 cents per share in the last 12 months. The negative info is posted proudly and up front while you have to dig for the good stuff. No where does anyone mention that NOK has lost 60 cents per share on a discontinued business that they have now sold for 7.4 billion dollars. No where with a quick glance or some prudent DD will one find this info. IMHO NOK is worth 18 to 19 bucks a share as I write this and it will get to that share price in the next 6 months as their earnings statements start to truly reflect what is going on. The best part will be the next 2 years as the new NOK really starts performing. It will be interesting to see how much NOK can make on their patent portfolio and what they have in the pipeline for advanced technologies. Hang in there the fun is about to begin!

  • Under Yahoo Business Summary there is no mention of Advanced Technologies or the 600 million Euros NOK receives from patents. They don't mention that the max potential for patent income is north of 21 billion Euros. If I were doing a quick scan for a company to invest in, I would see that NOK made 4 cents per share last quarter. The numbers don't quote the 11 cent per share loss on D&S that was just sold for an astounding 7.4 billion dollars and that NOK is really at 60 cents per share per year and on the verge of taking that number way up. The average investor won't get it for at least 3 more months, maybe longer. So there it is we may have 3 to 6 more months to keep buying in. What a deal!

I have been watching ECOB for awhile. It looks like any hard money investor wants one thousand shares for every dollar they lend at 12% interest. ECOB only had 7 billion left and they are still a minimum of 10 million short of the capitol they need just to supply 100 Home Depots. Unless there is money available to them at 6% with out warrants and share dilution I cannot see the future. Typically a company in this position will warrant out the 7 billion shares for the 7 million and some time later do a 200 to one reverse split or worse yet will leave the current shareholders holding a worthless company and take the value and form a new company. Does anyone know if ECOB has a reasonable source of financing that is reasonable?

NOKIA IN PERSPECTIVE: THE NEXT LEG UP

I agree with your thinking mostly. I really do not like the idea of a buy back, I would rather see a sustainable quarterly dividend that can grow by 20% YOY. Encourage large institutional holders to suck up 2.5 to 3 billion shares...the share problem is solved and the share holders get the extra cash and a growing stock price!

You would certainly think so unless you realize that you have missed a huge move from 1.6 to 8.2 and you don't want to miss the next move. Maybe they are buying time to load up. We will know soon enough.

MSFT downgraded by Deutsche Bank and the price drops...pretty normal for a company spending 7.5 billion to purchase another business. NOK selling it's D&S division should be up, way up and NOK is down! I keep the belief that some day soon NOK will get recognition for what it is and where it is headed and the PPS will go up, way up!

I definitely agree but 7.6, I just think that is incredibly week for the picture NOK is painting right now. I think a PE of 15 plus cash = $12 and that is a number that makes a lot of sense to me right now. I really do want to know what other people are thinking on this.

Here is the math I am using $7.6 - $3. cash = $4.60 divide by earnings of .60 that gives me a PE of 7.6. For a company with 10 bill net cash in the business that NOK is in I see that as a BK valuation. How do you see it?

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • bill035419 by bill035419 Apr 10, 2014 2:30 PM Flag

The Valuation Metric for NOK is still using a BK attitude. I believe this will change the day after MSFT closes. We should get a VM based on growth which should get us to $12. The future is based on the ability of NOK management to perform and I am beginning to think the team in place right now is about as good as it gets!
I used to think Elop was a Trojan Horse I am beginning to believe NOK played him and MSFT like a banjo. They are selling a money loser in an aggressively competitive business to Softy for 7.4 BILLION DOLLARS and Softy is now boxed in...they must complete this deal. They only think I can imagine to improve this is for GOOG to make a better offer!
The Indian Tax authorities, at some point will stop masturbating in the closet and come back to reality or they will be left with a decaying plant, no jobs and a sea change in politics.
Where does this leave NOK? I am hoping that NOK does not go for a share buy back. Institutional ownership should be encouraged as this will take 2.5 to 3 billion shares off the market. This is easy to do. A 25 cent dividend cause this reaction and while NOK will have to grow into that dividend over the next 2 years it will certainly solve a world of problems in the short and long term. This would also give us a VM of being an income stock. Add some accelerated income from patents and HERE and bang we are a growth and income company with a PE of 20 to 30 and it is off to the races.

This is the kind of information that makes me wonder why this stock is not exploding yet. NOK hardly needs to do anything and their patent income could improve 36 times, that sounds like a major number to me. Has anyone done the math on this. I came up with 21.6 billion a year or 5.58 per share. Must be something terribly wrong with my math...or this stock should be on a rocket! Can someone show me the error in my calculation?
