Sooner or later there will be an announcement of a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen next week, it could happen later this month, but it will happen. Before the summer is over there will be an announcement. When that happens, S will seem like a bargain at $8.55. However, that is not the end of the story. The next step will be the approval by the regulatory agencies involved. If and when the merger is approved and finalized, S will seem like a bargain at $10. Verizon and AT&T need a competitor who is their equal. It will be good for the consumer. (And, it will be good for the stockholders.) Sprint/T-Mobile is that competitor.

Forget about the debt that will be incurred in a merger. Forget about current T-Mobile plans to achieve growth. Forget about current Sprint plans to achieve growth. Neither company is in a position to effectively compete with AT&T and Verizon at this time. The value of Sprint is what it is. The value of T-Mobile is what it is. The sum of the value of both companies can readily be determined. The best way to increase the value of Sprint is to merge with T-Mobile. A merger will make Sprint/T-Mobile much more valuable than the sum of their parts. A merger will make Sprint/T-Mobile a company that will be more cost efficient and more likely to be able to compete on an equal footing with AT&T and Verizon. A merger is in the best interest of Sprint and T-Mobile and is in the best interest of consumers.

News is out, again, that Sprint has (is close to reaching) reached a deal to acquire T-Mobile. I wonder if this time, the deal is real..... Regardless, the "spike" in the chart looks pretty damn good to me !!

This was quite a day for S. Earnings will be announced tomorrow before the bell. Hopefully, there will be information about the merger and Sprint's other plans. There was a story today that Sprint and T-Mobile will not announce a merger until September. Regardless, it was great to see an "up" day for our stock.

    Will S continue upward tomorrow?

Does anybody read what this guy has to say? When S is having a down day, I always see at least five to ten "ignored" posts at the bottom of my message board. I assume he writes the same thing over and over again. Regardless, it seems as though he is either some childlike person who lives in the basement of his parents home, or he genuinely get pleasure from other people's misfortune. I will "unignore" melodias23 if he responds to this post. I am curious as to why he does what he does.....

    expect S to spyral down

You're a little late and a lot wrong. Now if you had said, expect S to "spyral" down 2 weeks ago, your post would have been correct. I believe, at this point, S is more likely to spiral up then "spyral" down.

It's been a little tiring waiting for a merger announcement (with T-Mobile) to come. Am I alone in this feeling? Back in December, when a merger announcement seemed imminent, S traded briefly above $11. When a merger announcement seemed unlikely, S traded for $7 and change. Now S is trading at $8.60. All I hear is that there will, most certainly, be a merger announcement later this summer. If it happens, and I believe it will, what will happen to S? If it doesn't, what will happen to S? Regardless, if there is an announcement, it will be many months until the merger will be finalized. Sprint/T-Mobile will need to get the approval of regulators and that takes time. It seems to me there are 3 questions that are most important:

    1. What will be the value of S after a merger announcement?
    2. What will be the value of S if the merger is approved?
    3. What will be the value of S is there is no merger?

Of course these are questions that do not look at the long term implications of a merger or, heaven forbid, no merger. I believe the long term implications are excellent if a merger is approved and less than ideal if a merger is rejected. (Sprint and T-Mobile together can compete with AT&T and Verizon on a more equal footing then they can separately.)

    It's all a little tiring.

This week should be interesting. I wonder if there will be new stories about Sprint/Softbank reaching a deal with T-Mobile. (as was the case on Friday) I wonder if there will be an actual announcement. I have seen all this before with no follow-up. We shall see....

At 11:30 AM today, S is bid at $5.57.

    1. Sprint was profitable in the 2nd quarter. It beat consensus estimates by $.05.
    2. Sprint had revenues in the 2nd quarter of almost $8.2 billion.
    3. Sprint has 54,600,000 customers.
    4. Sprint has a new CEO.
    5. Sprint has made huge progress in updating their network.
    6. Sprint sold 5,000,000 smart phones during the 2nd quarter.

Earlier this week, Sprint dropped their bid for T-Mobile. S is down over $2 since earnings were announced last week. This is based solely on their decision to drop their bid for T-Mobile. This does not make sense. Certainly, S was expected to drop when they ended their merger plans. However, a $2+ drop since a good earnings report seems excessive.

I believe it is. If there is an announcement that Sprint has agreed to a merger with T-Mobile, and the details are announced, I believe S would trade above $9. If the merger is approved by the regulatory agencies involved, I believe S would trade well above $10 and possibly much higher. Right now the "merger" is in some sort of limbo. One day the merger seems imminent, the next day it is "delayed". Who knows what the truth is? If however, the merger is called off, it will be interesting to see where S will "settle". For now, it seems it would settle somewhere in the $7.50 range. Regardless, the only other thing to "look forward" to, is the earnings announcement on July 30th.

Sprint Will Not Merge With T-Mobile

S is significantly undervalued. S traded briefly above $11 last December when it appeared Sprint was ready to make an offer for T-Mobile. Sprint will, at some point, make an offer for T-Mobile. The offer will come later than many of us anticipated, but it will come. When the offer is announced, S will trade far higher than $7.90. When the offer is approved by the regulatory agencies involved, S will trade even higher, much higher....

That is my belief, and I am sticking to it.
