“While lengthening decision cycles are placing pressure on our near term results, Sonus remains well-positioned, both technically and commercially, as opportunities develop, and I believe these opportunities will develop given the inevitable technology shift we anticipate in this industry.
The Company’s first quarter results reflect shifts in expected customer activity and ordering patterns, including the deferral of certain customer purchasing decisions that had been expected to be made at the back end of the first quarter as well as a reduction in customer spend compared to what had been forecast. The Company is now seeing lengthening decision cycles for both Tier 1 and midsize customers, primarily in North America. Based on conversations members of Sonus’ senior leadership team have recently had with many of the Company’s largest customers, the Company believes the reasons for the longer decision cycles include delays in the major technology transition to software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV), delayed RFP decisions (many of which are related to that transition), and the impacts of industry consolidation in both the telecommunications and cable industries. The Company does not believe that it had any significant competitive losses in the first quarter.
Someone may have sold (not bought) 25000 $7 put contracts for a completely different set of reasons. At these levels, you would be a fool to think these option contracts are a negative for share price.
I got stopped out of 40% of my long position when SONS dropped down from 16 plus into the 14 range (and as I have mentioned on more than one occasion I've since added so my share position is larger than before.) So I'm glad that I had the stop in place even though it was one very bad feeling when I was stopped out. Maybe the group that was front running the market news and exiting their positions a couple days (or more) actually saved me a lot of money and could have saved me more if I had better money management strategies.
Thinking out loud here , shareholders should always place hard stops on all of their positions and fall on their swords regardless of fundamentals, news to date, analysts recommendations, and managements pumps when the stock falls below a reasonable percentage loss (and of course we would all define that differently.
So I'm not so mad at the front runners at this time because really they did help me. I need to improve money management strategies. Lastly, I still have a ticket for a launch higher that's certainly not guaranteed.
Hot money going into PBR last several days which I have been following as well. Looks like at least a double over the next 12 months, not that you would be interested in doubling your money in 12 months.
I continue to add today. A year from now I will either be very happy or very sad. My money is on happy but that thought is a hard sell to anyone that got caught up in this downdraft. Good luck to everyone whether long or short. I just cannot see the short argument at these levels.
Today I am a fool. In 12 months I hope my position will be vindicated.
Noticed that AUDC is trading above 5 although off .14 for the session.
Noticed ALU is trading at 3.85 off .04 for the session.
Of course we all know SONS was off .15.
When it rains it pours.
lol, it was free and better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, that's what the normal guys get and yea got this time once again.
Look, we all know this hasn't shaken out to date the way we had planned and hoped, even those of us that are hard core long term investors. Having said that, it is what it is. We need to listen to the call and base our future decisions accordingly. But I must admit in all honesty, this is really wearing on me. Sometimes adversity brings out the best in us. I sincerely hope that will be the case with Ray and his management team and it will be reflected in sales revenue, bottom line profits and ultimately stock price in the coming quarters.
It's all about money. If they think they can make good money they'll be back. Ray needs to show results in revenue and bottom line profits to prove the company, not himself, are worthy of their investment dollars.
What's special about breaking into the 7's? What's different from the 8's that suggests it's going down more?

Same here summer. I suppose I may have been just a little early on my buys this morning but all is well.
