You could be right. On the other hand - they won't be in the stock market, either. So your comment is really to the 1-5% that are investing in the maket - which is why the stock has not topped out.
Since the drop in JWN is a direct result of overall market sell-off - you are predicting the overall market will sell off to the 12,000 range? No reason for that to happen.
Right - "they" - who are they? Invaders from space, the CIA, other invisible evil doers? Gee, thought it was understood the role that speculation has? Whether it goes up or down - strictly that. This is not the game Jeopardy - where the host has a card with the "right answer" in this case final stock price.. Grow up and get over yourself and either jump on the bandwagon or don't - stop complaining.
Another new high this am. Not sure whether it will close in record setting territory - or not. Certainly a long way from 75. Those shorts betting on 75 or lower must be out shopping for new shirts by now.
Trading is fairly minimal - still based on some older posts - guess there are quite a few nervous shorts as they seemed to be targeting $75 and it is quite a ways from there.
It is a known cancer causing agent - which is why there are standards for the amount which is safe and that which is dangerous. It more than exceeded that standard.
You must be long in LL - otherwise no defense for their actions - clearly profit motivated. Children play on floors - bare feet and all. What will your explanation be to them for their future health problems? Dump your shares while you can.
Hear - hear. I doubt he will see your comment - as most "shorts" that show up at a site such as this - are short term visitors and move on. Thier posts are consistently negative. I was reminded of this type of impact by reading Dilbert today where a person was celebrating their 5% gain and that meant they were a genius at playing the market. Dilbert observed the market was up 6%, so...
Well let's see. I assume by your post that you are questioning why JWN is opening stores in Canada. They have a lot of Canadian customers that cross the border to shop at the stores in the USA - so they are trying to capitalize on that. Calgary has a lot of money from oil. So, with the price of oil down local economies are impacted. Just how long do you think the price of oil will be down?
Not everyone has downgraded - one has upgraded. The spending is hardly a gamble. SSS was very good for December - which is one of the more telling statistics for retailers. You should know that.
It's hardly a gamble - unless you took out an agressive short position. If you bothered doing any research at all you would know they have been in the E-Commerce business for about a decade now and have been good at it. I'm not bothered by your ignorant posts - as you are one of these Short guys that show up around every company major financial announcement to talk trash - then you are gone until the next time. Bye-bye
If you are looking for an investment and a company where the CEO will lay off everyone, sell the very ground they are standing on to make a profit - JWN is not for you. Their # 1 are serving the customers. They do this by melding innovation along with old fashioned face to face service as their top mission as they strive to beat all competitors. As a by product they will make a profit and pay dividends to stockholders. But their #1 emphasis to to grow their customer base - not a possible stockholder. As such, where managing their finances and issueing forecasts - they are very conservative. Not everyone likes that about them. If you don't then you should probably invest elsewhere. If you are a shopper and want the confidence of shopping with someone that will stand behind the sale and be there in the future - Nordstrom is for you.
Your point is what? How many well know companies have even had a profitable quarter since 07-08 (hint - Amazon) and yet the stock price keeps going up. JWN is investing in it's future - so they are spending money to have one.
Assuming the Board knows something about the upcoming earnings report (Dividend increase of 12%) - I'm guessing a very good report - with the stock jumping higher on the good news.
