Gilead has sent them 1 million bottles so far to sell it as licensed Harvoni. The other 7 India firms were picked
to be licensed to make generic Gilead drugs.....This is what Gilead did over a year ago and now the analysits are afraid this will be a danger to Gilead. It will be nice when they run out of junk news and start realizing the Gilead is providing this drug profit free.....in the effort to cure foks in 91 countries at no profit... I think the critics will look pretty stupid as the news becomes more common knowledge....Now lets see, what has Abbvie done in this charitable area? Well at least we know that Gilead (and its shareholdera) have benefitted the most for bullsht news.....as they have been able to get real bargains on stock buybacks...I'll bet they have bt at least $5 billion in stock back by end of 2nd quarter.
Yes...good there is a cure now....i couldn't take interferon so i had no path until recently
there is a cure after all.... but the symptoms of hep c haven't yet been widely discussed. It's all been about liver transplants and cancer.. Living with hep c, even at early stages, can cause real suffering.. I was cured in Gileads ION 3 clinical trial (harvoni) but still have all the scars on my arm from bleeding as my skin lost its integrity. The list of symptoms posted below is quite real. I quit work ten years ago due to hep c symptoms. I'm looking to go back now.
Chronic hepatitis C can be associated with fatigue and mild cognitive problems. Chronic infection after several years may cause cirrhosis or liver cancer. ..Fatty changes to the liver occur in about half of those infected and are usually present before cirrhosis develops. Usually (80% of the time) this change affects less than a third of the liver. Worldwide hepatitis C is the cause of 27% of cirrhosis cases and 25% of hepatocellular carcinoma. About 10–30% of those infected develop cirrhosis over 30 years.,
Liver cirrhosis may lead to portal hypertension, ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdomen), easy bruising or bleeding, varices (enlarged veins, especially in the stomach and esophagus), jaundice, and a syndrome of cognitive impairment known as hepatic encephalopathy. Ascites occurs at some stage in more than half of those who have a chronic infection.
The most common problem due to hepatitis C but not involving the liver is mixed cryoglobulinemia (usually the type II form) — an inflammation of small and medium-sized blood vessels. Hepatitis C is also associated with the autoimmune disorder Sjögren's syndrome, a low platelet count, lichen planus, porphyria cutanea tarda, necrolytic acral erythema, insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus, diabetic nephropathy, autoimmune thyroiditis, and B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. Thrombocytopenia is estimated to occur in 0.16% to 45.4% of people with chronic hepatitis C. 20–30% of people infected have rheumatoid factor — a type of antibody. Possible associations include Hyde's prurigo nodularis and membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis. Cardiomyopathy with associated abnormal heart rhythmss has also been reported. A variety of central nervous system disorders has been reported. Chronic infection seems to be associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.[3
I see what u are saying ..these are no speculative option buys...no one buys that much in the money options...it always part of another deal...The only thing i can figure is that it is Gilead trying to buy back more than the daily 25% of volume limit... Im sure that Gilead sold the 40,000 puts sold for $120 in june...at about $18 may 7. who ever gilead wrote those puts to (a brokerage firm) want to get point spread and commision...im sure they got a $1 anyway...on 40,000 options this is a $4 million commision... rto cover it they needed to buy 4 mil shares of gilead on may 7. That way if the stock goes up...their loss in buying puts is cancelled by gain on 4 million shares.
Im wondering if maybe they DID NOT do this...in that case they need to come up with 4 million shares to give gilead on expriation june 17. No one seems to be talking about gilead not cramer or fast money,.,,Perhaps Goldman or Bank of America bought these 40,000 puts an didnt hedge them. These puts lost most of their $77 million dollar value in little over one month.
He's actually speculating that MAYBE Gilead is buying back stock...gee i wonder when he realized this.....this is getting comical,,,,
Im quoting..."3. Company might be buying some stock back (recall $15B authorization).... hmm u think?
More than 1,500 inmates in Massachusetts state prisons have hepatitis C, but only three are being treated for it, the lawsuit states, even though Gilead Sciences GILD +1.24% and AbbVie ABBV -0.29% introduced drugs since late 2013 that have higher cure rates and shorter treatment durations than older hepatitis C regimens.
“Prisoners who ought to receive the new medications are not receiving them, and a vast number of prisoners with Hepatitis C are not being afforded the necessary testing to determine whether they too should receive treatment,” according to the lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in Boston.
congradulations...you get too pay the first dividend out of your pocket...your account will be debited in a few weeks...unless you cover today
the divvy is already setting them back $1.3 bil
those puts were, no doubt, sold by Gilead on May 7 at ~$18....= ~$77 million....no one else would sell such huge amount so deep in the money..;..they would just shrt stock. If im right, Gilead will just call the stock in at $120 and pocket the $77 million received for selling them. The purchaser would have shorted an equal amount of stock when selling puts to gilead...Gilead will, in effect, be buying 4 million shares at ~$100/shsre....I imagine Gilead also bt the 40,000 calls at same strike...in case the stock closes higher than $120....to make sure they get all gain from $100 price...(the options will only supply the $77 mil.....
Gilead is way WAY undervalued....
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I think Goldman didn't like finding out that no one is getting the results on efficacy of Viekira pak....i dont know what doc will prescribe under those conditions,....Goldman will probably upgrade stock ..i suggest listening to the comference from yesterday...the transcript is on Alpha
in todays Zacks article 7 things u should know about Gilead"...I think the bashing is over...The US senate complemented the new HCV drugs as "what every vet and every American deserves" as they appropriated
$900 million more specifically for VA HCV drugs starting on July 1.
The other interesting thing from Goldman meeting yesterday is Gilead ( and the health community) have no idea haw Viekira pak is doing clinically.....whether there are compliance or clinical problems or if the cure rate matches expectation....Gilead states this is because Express Scripts is blocking that information..as aggreed with Abbvie. We will have to wait for VA to get good picture of the efficacy of Viekira pak...
I wonder how physicians will like them apples???
Of course the analysers must get the price correct first....Everyone here knows this treatment is not $1000 day...not even close. It's guys like u spreading ignorance that confuse price vs value debate
