mtoby3, it was one mans ego on the rig...It failed the negative pressure test three times had the office known there would not have been a blow out...Next Transition did not have a working blow out preventer(BOP).
BP took all the Blame. IF you read RIG's 10k (annual report) for 2009 you will find Transocean had such a problem with their BOP's that they mention the issue with the BOP's in the 2009 annual report...Now how is a company wide(RIG"s) problem with BOPs maintenance and proper functioning BP's Fault? BP had not contracted ever rig Transocean had.
Next the #$%$ from farms going down the Mississippi every years does more damage to the Gulf of Mexico than ten Macondo blow outs could actually do...People like you whom want someone with deep pockets to pay for every one else's damage people are something else.

"People who don't believe in global warming"
Really, A thinking person knows Governments have spent 20 years and 100 billion dollars and still cannot prove CO2 caused warming.
The Math says no(physics)...24/7 monitoring of radiation shows the opposite that CO2 is bottom out and could not cause warming(re: MODISbands charts)....I guess if a lie is repeated enough and repeated by those in power it becomes true, hey ya?

FINE GLOBAL, BUT IT IS NOT CO2 FOOLS....They spent 20 years and 100 billion trying to prove it is CO2, it is not...Measure Radiation 24/7 (Modis bands) show it is not...the math also says it is not...SO the AGW guys constantly try to correlate tempt to co2 increase but even that doesn't match....Go on believe the liars and their political agenda's...
repeat a lie often enough people will start to believe it.

amory you must be easy to please....As I am always disappointed with SD earnings...I really never like their well results as they too close to the margin...I would feel better with a bigger margin which would mean more boe/d per well....BWDIK....

RJ, you missed the point: Bush Admin wanted to do something about the GSE's Fanny and Freddie Oct 2003. Barney Franks hit the media and nightly news effectively stopping any fix...The hugh housing bubble could not have happen had the GSE's been controlled starting in 2003...2009, I can not find it but I remember clearly Obama in a Video(2009) saying no way energy could be solved by drilling as a matter of fact at first he tried to hinder and then quickly left it alone never to make such dumb comment again...I SAY THAT THE DEM PARTY LINE THAT MESSED HIM UP... anyway what did he do? Healthcare is all...The wars were winding down anyway. I give him credit for getting Bin laden because he made the decision to go in...The economy is Shale drilling increased oil production for USA(help trade deficit) and the FED's QE's... QE's and the OIL production growth Had Zero help from the Administration and Congress....What did I miss? Son CO2 is not the problem they figured it out almost a hundred years ago and we and Europe etc have spent 100 billion dollars and 20 years trying to prove it's co2 only they can not because it is not....Consensus , is not Proof anyone whom thinks concensus means proof ought to have their head examined---talking illusion minded...May I suggest you buy the book Slaying the Sky Dragon it might clear a few things up for you regarding co2....

Currently, the board is full of shills. Buyback? BS. CRC borrowed and paid OXY six billion;thus, oxy has cash CRC has debt....Just how would by back fix that?

Yes, shameful wall street analyst state CRC at $20.00; however, the 6 billion in borrowed money represents a $15.00 a share (387 mill shares or say 400/6bill =15) in debt...No mention of wht the interest rate is or when it is due... CRC list and analyst say 375 mill shares ; but, if you look hard enough we find fully diluted it is more like 387 mill shares 18 months out...

Not that CRC might make a god company bu it #$%$ me that the news is so blatantly useless and Misleading...Waiting on fist real SEC quarter and year end report next year.

""Global refining margins during the first half of 2013 recorded the best half-year average since at least 1990 due to a combination of cold northern hemisphere weather and refinery outages, both planned and unplanned""

"The annual average of $15.4/bbl was the third-best result in our data series going back to 1990."

maybe as good in 2015? BP refines 750,000 b/d.And they all been recently upgraded.....last several years....$40.00 oil plus $15.00 well we..I think the refining end is able to pay the dividend ya think? North America refining Capacity is 750,000 B/D

I wasn't in BP for the Div. Buddy. BP has 30 billion cash, I think we may get march div....Although if I was CEO I would cut it according to profitability... Maybe BP can Get the Courts to agree to an lower Penalty because of lower oil prices...Anyway maybe BP can buy on the cheap. I wouldn't want an merger because A-Holes like you want the share price so low. Thus using shares I wouldn't favor but some cash I would.

I would cut capex now. only capex would be to meet trust obligations only. And used the remaining cash or most of it and pay down debt or credit facility...I would ride the cash flow from existing wells...And only drill wells that break even at $40.00.... once oil price go back up they could borrow again to drill.....

I haven't analyzed.. But P bay wells are among the lowest cost per barrel oil in todays basins .... It still make money at $30.00 barrels although the costs to operate would be higher because of higher wages and equipment those have went up due to inflation, etc. World will be in shortage soon....As Shale plays have a very very high decline rate and companies will not drill new wells just to turn over money/no IRR....Saudi will cut production..

    Saudi production 1979-80 9-10 mill boe/d
    1986--- dropped it to 2.6 mill boe/d
2000---- shortage world oil Suadi increased it back to 10 mill boe/d but maxed out. IMO, this is to punish Russia for invading the Ukraine Period!

you do realize Russia subsidizes it's citizens over 40 billion a year on fossil fuels....Lower oil prices will not hurt in that sector as the Country might even get closer to breakeven for the subsidies....Doesn't help for drilling new wells though....This could be long term drop in price...Hence I want integrated company....with excess refining capacity....

Study up on Rome ancient and you will learn that the Roman city Rome with it's 1 million people had Smog! We know because writers of their day wrote about it. Or take the rive Thames England in the 1800's completely polluted the river; hence waste treatment was born...The Greens are Idiots.Even humans living primitively had problems with waste-solution..Again the Greens are Idiots, most have not a clue!

  • storage fulling and no one believes..Tankers article saying the have increased speed-faster delivery to China where china is making ever effort to fill up on lower oil prices....oil production still climbing in USA...Deals being made for export light in exchange for heavy with Mexico etc....
layouts all over Huston ; but hey, it's a headline hoax, not.
SA increased production....Yep, and low oil prices reduce China Wind Fall Oil all do know China still had that tax in effect, right?(anything over 45-50 oil subject to the tax.( I've forgotten the details but thats what happen when Government makes all the decisions)(wind fall tax) Remember you Democratic party wanted wind fall taxes too...where would shale drilling be in that tax environment? ....

Saw that Blackstone raised $5 billion I think. They are ready to buy.
Something Boone said yesterday, thought was interesting. 250mm cars/trucks in US. If you figure half a barrel in each tank, that's 125mm barrels of additional demand if everyone bought one more tankful, 125mm/365, that's 340kb/d of additional demand. Saw where there are one billion vehicles on the globe, sounds about right. One more tank, 500mm barrels of demand, that's 1.4 mmb/d, on 93mm b/d, that's 1.5%, about the average increase. Not going to take much to move oil up from $50, less supply and more demand. The other thing that strikes me, is we have 5% of the global pop and 25% of the vehicles. We have 80 cars for every 100 people and the rest of the world 10 cars for every 100. Couple of observations, doesn't take genius, is we, maybe should say I, don't recognize daily the skewed nature of our negativity, there may be inequality, not going to begin to argue that, but our largesse for everyone is still the envy of the globe. And second, everyone on the globe wants what we want, we should have another 4 billion cars to match our usage.
This still the best country on the planet despite our government leaders, on both sides. Less""

Clinton was one of the best Repub Pres. ever even though he was a Dem.
Clinto had an easy terms, IMO...Booming Dot. com Congress willing to cut military, I am talking Troop levels...Did you know, what the Reagan tax cuts were? Mostly it was accreted depreciation, ya know like DD&A.
That;s not really a cut it just allows companies to expense their costs quicker. I bet most did not know this! Did you know Reagan had to Cowtow to 13 or was, now i forget and yo cannot find the info...BUT about 15 Powerful democrats demanded extra spending of 150 billion we did not have. NO, Press will not tell you. Anyway Reagan agreed because he was confident accelerated depreciation(TAXCUT) would boost the economy. IT was Called ACRES, if memory serves then Dems complain and they changed it two or so years later and that was called MACRES(modified accelerated depreciation..Remember ACRES was first ..80's here: MACRS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) is the current tax depreciation system in the United States. Under this system, the capitalized cost (basis) of tangible property is recovered over a specified life by annual deductions for depreciation. The lives are specified

google it...But hey poor people that is a tax cut just expensing your costs...

well, If I were Russia I'd cut production by 600k boe/d as That would firm up oil prices fast...But I guess they like SA want to slow down US market share gains of the oil Market ...That be shale production to slow down...
BP is integrated and as oil refining is doing well so will BP's refining do well which will off set drop in oil price. Usually refining is breakeven and upstream is where profit is but when oil drops hard it is the other way around....The Big thing is all the GOM spill costs. CWA etc was put into Law to make Companies more careful...With 40 billion in cpsts over one wll out of hundreds drilled in Gulf I doubt oil majors need the law to make them operate better safer etc. My God, at this cost no will be drilling and we will be paying $ 200.00 for oil instead of $50.00

Healthcare probably a lost cause...pipeline veto I think is to spite the repubs....No, they all want corn power a most expensive form of power...
I am still waiting for better solar cells....But hey the liberals want us all to adopt expensive tech before it is cost effective; for instance would you like using the old large motorola cells phone developed/made in 1973...Yeah that large expensive phone is the tech the liberals want us to switch too now....Dumb just plain Dumb, yet they claim they are smarter than the rest of us...
