  • Yes $ mgrs have been skimming some profits to take to alibaba....I guess the Chicom gfovernment is somehow, no longer a threat to investing in China. GULP !

Video Ads are going to SCALP Shorts this quarter and this new revenue stream has helped ENHANCE ad revs overall and...............it is just getting started! Whatsapp should begin turning in some revs certainly by years end...maybe sooner......oh and the advertising as a whole on social sites is still growing! Imagine that!

I think analysts are starting to catch on to FB the social site, FB the utility, FB the communcations tool and FB the advertising beheemoth......AND, FB the unknown with several potential revenue streams still hybernating in the back room so to speak!

    All IMHO.....

Yes, that is a bit of a problem.....the old RAKING of premiums via options because the stock is so volatile and easily moved by low costing volume...almost at will IMO.

Then again, anyone with an interest in taking out SD has as good an opportunity as ever at these prices.

SD has got to be THEE most underloved...outright HATED small oil patch operator even with new management. The silence from management is deafening.

    SD oversold and the MACRO....

OOPS! Forgot to mention, Crude is off about 14% from it's 2014 high and SD has a BETA of about 2.8 which makes a perfect ratio between OIL and SD sell-offs to be around 39% down for SDs price. I believe SDs price is down about 35% +/-.

Point is, this SD sell-off is a very close mirror of the oil sector sell-off........oh and one other thing....if you were in charge of world affairs......is there anyways you could SQUEEZE the bad guys right now? You know ISIS, Putin? OIL PRICES.........................hello? Critics? .........crickets.....crickets........PANT'sd YA !

  • SD has a high beta and thus, oil volatility hits it's stock price alittle more harshly (as we all see) than others. Production levels of OIL and NG and what is perceived as a slowing demand is temporary!

The WORLD still wants the CONVENIENCES /better standard of living created by the West's innovations over the last century and with this demand, comes the need for ENERGY. Todays energy slowdown is one chapter in a very long book with a happy ending for energy holders IMHO !

Add to all of the above the impending conversion to NG powered energy plants ACROSS the world.....and while Tesla is making inroads into the EV market the fact of the matter is this, again, if everyone in America was forced to use an EV today, it would crash our GRID. Oh EVs will play a role but NG is what makes them practical on a massive scale! In fact don't be surprised if somehow a NG/EV hybrid makes its way into our inventory! It makes more sense than ayother choice available today!

Bottomline.....we have seen this play before regarding SDs stock price...in fact more than once! Each time the sell off proves to be overdone and Sd shareholders have been rewarded for dollar cost averaging down. How long will the oil sell off last? Who can say but SD is leveraged/hedged well for the remainder of the year (last I read) and while maintaining a low cost of production, SD could prove to ultimately be a shining star even if oil prices do remain low!

All IMHO and most of what we see IMO is the oil sell off....over supply of both OIL and NG...but amidst all of this, remember, we do not provide OIL or NG to anyone, not even our allies.....but change is coming thanks to the likes of Mr Putin, Venezuelan and Middele Eastern politics etc. ! IMHO...for what it may or may not be worth! LOL !

  • RIP McRib..........WEN is doing it right! REAL pulled pork topped with slaw on a brioche bun......or a pulled pork cheeseburger......oh and pulled pork fries! Sauce choices are sweet, smokey, or spicey BBQ !!!

Just had a smokey pulled pork sandwich...........BOOM ! Out of the park like I stated above! The slaw closes the deal......and, it's messy, just like at home! Word to the wise......dress shirts, blouses, even a tie have a direct correlation on the likelihood that you will spill ! One of Murphy's unwritten postulates!

The SPONGE McRib is not even close to being in the same league! Buh bye McRib!

As I understand it, this is a limited time offer and currently only available in select stores...but nationwide in a couple weeks at all stores in Oct. !

WEN is taking fastfood to a new level, a higher level ! Innovation and imagination lead the way in what was once merely, The Burger Patch !

SHORTs....CUP CHECK...hope yer wear'in ' em cause you are about to get KICKED and KICKED HARD!

  • High desert. alot of sun...Lake Tahoe less than an hours drive, the California Coast a few hours drive, AND NO INCOME TAX!

World Class entertainment, skiing, cross country skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, wide open country in Nevada's version of the OUTBACK!

Nevada is the nations most highly mineralized State with more mountain peaks than anyother State, BY A LONG SHOT......pronghorn, elk, bear, mule deers, black tail ( like the white tail only a black tail!)....did you ever watch the old western series "Bonanza"?

Guess what! There is a real carson City, Virginia City.....the Comstock Gold mine.......SUN out the yin yang....and I will bet that MUSK sees an opportunity for Solar Panel manufacturing here as well! ECONOMY of SCALE ! Simply put, there are not too many places in the US that have all of ther above to offer!

It surprises me that more people from the midwest don't find their way here! Reno and the surrounding area are MUCH MORE suer friendly than Drugged up, hopped up, Vegas!

Others will follow, Walmart has a huge distribution center here, as does Amazon.....apple is moving something into the area and now Tesla.....this will grow and likely bring to the region, many peripheral related industries/services etc.

Reno is to Nevada what Boulder was to Colorado 50 years ago, undiscovered except for the few!

LMAO! Cleint,,,are you a comedian or half brain dead? I only ask because the three blind mice, Obama, Reid, and Pelosi had a chance that few in our nations history ever have, they controlled the hill and look where we are today! LMAO!!

DoltBAMA is by FAR, THEE worst IDIOT to ever hold the office, we get to watch him OJT on almost a daily basis! He is currently using the same power he tried to deny Bush...in fact he even floated a bill trying to block Bush from acting in a war zome without Congressional approval! LMAO! Now IdiotBAMA is doing the same. My oh my how the worm turns!

And Reid!? This guy could pay off our National Dent if he volunteered to become a MALE Prostitiute here in Nevada because the line of folks willing to PAY and do TO HIM what he has done to tax payers across the US would be endless! LOL! Oh and Harry! How many US troops died or were maimed by your enemy consoling/motivating phrase of "...the war is lost..." ?

Oh and Nancy? There is no deal too big for her to turn the way of her Husband or a close friend or relative! any kickbacks Nancy? Just wondering....oh I guess we'll find out! Oh and Nancy, how is it again that you are pro-union but the businesses YOU and YOUR HUSBAND own are prevented, BY YOU, from going Union?

Nancy has got to be the most irrational while being deliberately confrontational DWEEB to ever attain such a high level of influence.....but Obama takes the cake in this arena so she is second best...ooopppps! I mean second worse!

So Cleint9....whomever gets elected, let us all hope its not a LIB because LIBs MO of passing it NOW and figuring out a way to pay for it later has broken the financial back of our nation? Any questions?

Funny, I never took you for a tunnel visioned DWEEB LOVER ! LMAO!

By far the worst commercials on TV

LMAO! You mean that WAS the worst! Today we have the guy waking up and going through his day with 4 investment advisors surrounding him, all taking at once etc.

Okay invesco, the meaning is clear....but the commercial sends people to a different channel LIKE NOW! LOL!

I seriously have to wonder who heads up your marketing department and more specifically, who your ad agency is..........I mean these harrassment like approaches to "getting the word out" are a real nuisance approach. WAIT....let me guess.....your marketing guru is a former political ad campaign spud!????

    Nuisance commercials are counter-productive.

My rumor mill says WEN unveils a pulled pork sandwich as early as this weelend in a few stores and then ultimately, system wide in OCT.

If this is the case, then move over MCDs with your SPONGE McRib sandwich..........and, as I understand it, a selection of sauces and perhaps even a twist on other items using pulled pork!

..............just in time for all 3 seasons! ....Yes, all 3 !

Back to school, football, and our ever extending holiday shopping journey! I think this gives WEN a wonderful seasonal boost into again, an unexploited menu choice the burger patch has somehow seemed content to ignore!

GULP ! Is that THUNDER I hear? What!? The HERD is moving again into WEN's ! ??

All IMHO...and no more than rumor at this point ! BUT what a WELCOME alternative to that MCD's thing....if it really happens! OUCH!

Hey BONZOID.....Insiders have bought 8 million plus and sold 3,8 million over the last 6 months. What are you smoking? LMAO !

  • F can not catch a break, and Wall Street has rendered it a serial under-performer via their own fearful expectations. Despite this, earnings are still forecast to move up 45% between 2014 and 2015. I expect we may see this move down alittle as well for no other rational other than fearing F150 Alum issues and a crowded US auto sales pace.

I think F is a good long term play...it is one of nthe stocks I have placed into my Grandchildrens Coverdell Ed. Funds....and I think Wall Street is going to lead us to some very nice downward dollar cost averaging opportunities.

I think wall Street has overlooked the MILLENIALS finally now buying homes....with this comes auto sales! I guess we'll see BUT...remember there are ALOT of BOOMERS who are still driving that 10 year old car and something economical and of reasonable price will find some attention amonsgt the boomers as well as the high end luxury....models.

I still think this is an easy mid 20 range stock, TODAY. However, the tide is something no one can fight IMO......I think we see F in the 15 range and perhaps alittle lower on some unforeseen market event. All PURELY IMHO........................and nothing more.

  • boar292hog by boar292hog Sep 6, 2014 11:05 AM Flag

Earnings between 2104 and 2015 are projected to increase by a whopping 45%. Taking into account upgraded models in 2014 as well as entirely new models and the F150 aluminum conversion....to mention a few cata[ysts.

Of course one can not overlook China sales but I say enjoy them while we have them! It seems once the Chicoms figure out how much a foreign corporation is making on Chinese soil, well,.....they want a bigger piece of the pie.

Oddly, F stock price has languished. Its as though big money is holding it back.......or maybe the funding liability of those pesky pensions is somehow standing in the way. The good news, REF pensions, is that F is lightyears ahead of GM and Chrysler on this issue and some have said 2015 will also benefit from a closed issue or nearly closed issue regarding pension funding. This is really good news IMO.

It seems the perfect storm of fear has struck the auto industry and kept stock prices in check this year.......it also seems the inverse of this sour perfect storm may well be churning up out there on the horizon somewhere......waiting to hit shore in 2015! We can hope, right!?

All the above IMHO....and nothing more! I think F is a buy! I also think we see a DIV increase in January 2015 and/or 2016 ! For what it's worth.........

Huh! I stand corrected! Yes falcon...a month plus for the first nose dive 7 plus to the 6 range....and then the unexpected drop over a couple days from 6 to 5, ouch.

I couldn't understand the first frop and the second drop makes even less sense except possibly the big boys playing high stakes poker to get SD to do something.....maybe the buyback is only the first step in the process.....I guess we shareholders will have to wait and see.......like we have done for years now.

Good question Cleint9......but I think it is fair to assume any large sums of money insiders might have at their disposal is NOT AT THEIR disposal! IE.....this drop was quick and sudden....no warning, it just collapsed! I would guess it is fair to assume liquidity might prevent insiders from loading up immediately AND...filing requirements etc.
I suspect we will see some insider buying if the price huddles in this 5 range for any length of time.
In fairness, tha background of insiders is as varied as you, me, and everyone else on this board. While they have SD itself in common, just as we do....their specific financial liquidity is subject to LIFE...just like you and me! Besides, diversification is the King of the Road....even for insiders!

AND.....as far fetched as it may sound......if there is anything on the Corporate level going on at the moment....then Insiders are PRECLUDED from buying, thats the law! Unless of course they had already filed ahead of any inside events/knowledge.
    Who knows!? I sure don't !

All seriously ONLY.... IMHO and nothing more....

Hey justjoe.....here's my take on the heavy hitters. I think it is the heavy hitters creating this price volatility by ramping up or down (the price) essentially at will BUT...there always seems to be a catalyst. Right now for instance IMO...is an ideal time for the Hedgies to take profits to off-set their losses to date....AND, leave enough time to buy back in after the 30 day wash rule expires and pocket some profits.

Further, downward pressure on both OIL and NG prices stands as good a reason as any to take the money and run for those who had rather large gains in for isntance, SD. Afterall, a little over a year ago, one could have moved into SD in the mid 4 range...so selling out at the 7 range is one heck of a take. I mean the swing from 4.5 to 7+ was a heck of a gain for those who sold at the peak. Likewise, those who shorted in the 7 range have caught the inverse profit wave as SD moved down to 5 bucks. Wow, what a year SD has given some of those big boys who play the game. Of course their holdings are big enough to play the game afterall, they are the game because of their size. All purely speculation and IMHO of course.

SD and other high BETA's will likely continue to bruise shareholders as long as OIL and NG show price weakness. BUT..winter is coming and it is supposed to be another rough one!

It is rather strange that world events/geopolitical events have not led to upward energy sector prices. It tells me that energy traders are TOO CONTENT assuming a status quo outcome which, in itself, signals IMO...a bullish trend for energy prices. So couple the OVEDONE sell-off of energy (SD and others), the impending tough winter ahead, and consider we are one toothpick crossbeam away from the world collapsing literally into WWIII....via ingredients like CHINA, PUTIN's version of RUSSIA, ISIS, the US/NATO/ & Freeworld / allies.
The big boys in SD are IMO...the ones rocking the SD boat. For what it's worth!

    Buyback of shares

....um...unless those who brought the stock price down are helping hold it down for a buyback.......GULP !

Seen it before.....don't know if that is what is happening here but it sure smells like a "LID".

  • Naysayers and critics...you have a right to beat-up on SD...but many of your points are about as accurate as your ability to see into the future........NOT !

SD has an 11% Short positon....this position not so long ago was in the 40% range. Don't think for a minute that the MAJORITY of that SHORT Positon ISN'T held by the big players. Afterall, they do want to win and covering themselves via options reduces their risk.

For many, they are in the know, afterall, they hold a seat on the board. Protecting one's downside against a long postion is easy to run from if / when things turn around.

Ref. Buying back shares. It's not so much that SD is doing a buy back IMO...it is much more THAT THEY ARE IN A POSITION to do so in the first place! This is a RADICAL DEPARTURE from the days of T.W.

It is also the logical thing to do after a "run on the bank" ( if you will ) has deflated your stock price to unreasonably low levels AND.....while some call it a gesture......I think management views the price to be so cheap it is irresistable at these levels so WHY NOT? Pretty smart IMO. The buyback will have fractional benefits for shareholders and I seriously doubt we see the SHORT position move much at all, afterall, once again, most of that position is made up of the PROs. The little tail waggers will likely get body slammed again and finally give up after reading the HOW TOO book for options only to learn it is a pool of sharks and premiums for small position seldom really pay enough for the risk position taken. Even covered calls pay little these days in the way of premium unless one has scale.

So hats off to SD.......I think the sun shines again.......and I also think the day is coming when SD regains its footing and the doubters find another whipping post to sit on. All IMHO.....

  • boar292hog boar292hog Sep 4, 2014 9:28 PM Flag

Forget the motivation/reasoning/ etc. This is a very bullish sign IMHO. I mean for the first time in the last 5 years, SOMEONE at SD is thinking in the right direction! A buyback can be for many reasons.......usually, it is more than mere smoke as the skeptics might imply......but the event by itself spells out a positive direction!

Again, SDs price is so low that anyone of the big players can weed it....milk it.....EASILY MOVE the price via outlandishly high option positions RAKING a minimum of 10% (and as we have seen recently, much more) at will.

Of course remember too, NG and OIL prices are seeing a dip and this is going to "PANTS" a high beta stock price alot more than of course, the big oil patch players. It is hard to keep all of this in perspective AFTER a downward price has had its way with your money but thats all part of investing. The SUN will SHINE again IMHO!
