Friday was the rebalancing of the Russell 2000 and I assume (haven't check ) that HALO is part of the Russ 2000...thus causing a sale or buy after hours.........................don't take my word for it...just offering up a possible explan. !
I read with interest, FBs attempt at diversifying it's work force. Now if anyone can do it, you'd think FB could! The article showed little change from last regarding minority and gender diversification and I think the message is LOUD AND CLEAR.
You can't FORCE diversification if the skill set or interest is absent. Hats of for trying FB ; however, DC....Congress.....Media......race hustlers....gender benders......time to face reality.
SLAVERY was brought to American Soil under the BRITISH (or English) FLAG. It was further perpetuated under the US FLAG.......LONG BEFORE the Confederate Flag was even a concept.
While I understand the misplaced hatred of the Confederate Flag by those whose ancestors were affected by Slavery I think it is fair to ask that everyone remember the Civil War was about STATES RIGHTS, Slavery was a symptom and as ugly as it was, the war was about States Rights.
Of note is the FACT that MOST in the SOUTH were dirt poor and owned NO SLAVES. Many worked along side slaves. The aristocratic/largely DEMOCRATS, owned SLAVES, PERIOD.
Oh and lest we forget the indentured WHITE SLAVES escaping England's discrimination/war/genocide of the Scot's and Irish who had their ways paid for by some rich American in return for being PROPERTY or, an indentured slave. Now I'm not going to pretend that life for a white slave was as bad as it was for black slaves but don't think for a minute that some didn't suffer as much or more in different ways. Many never earned their freedom, while others Families were free on day one.
States Rights was an issue then and it is again today only now, Government over reach/intrusion/over regulation essentially dictating how we will live, think, treat eachother has hit a point of lunacy. This combined with over spending and the austerity already here under OBAMACARE will only get worse. IMHO.....
Liability of manufacturers? Means increased cost to consumer. Driverless will likely be a vastly slower moving transpo. grid. I just......well......I reminded of the old saying along the lines of this logic........"...just because we can do it, doesn't necessarily mean we should..." !
This makes bout as much sense as NEW COKE did in it's day. Folks needing transportation already have it, public transpo. The wealthy, they already have drivers. Why anyone can call a cab!
What kind of congestion will we see when a 40 seat public bus is replaced by 2 dozen driverless cars?
What happens when a driverless car gets HACKED? Our GOVERNMENT can't even protect itself from being hacked! Are these things going to be relying on powering up on our electric grid very night?
Sorry......not interested....it is a needless novelty and little more regarding the masses.
Looking at this board, I'm not sure I have ever seen so many negative posts. This in new to me. While I have in the past criticized COST, I am a loyal customer and that's kind of what this post is about.
The older I get, the less I seem to be visiting COST. Sure, things come up and there are weeks I stop in maybe even a few times!
Of late, it seems inventory changes are haunting our needs here at home. Long gone are those wonderful large kielbasa packages with about 9 or 10 huge links. Lately, the lactose free milk is just GONE. Discontinued at the store I use and all others within 50 miles. Oh well. I went in 3 days in a row looking for the milk, you see as folks age, lactose can become a bit of a stomach irritant! At any rate, no sign, no nothing, EXCEPT, at least TWO OTHER folks each of the 3 days I was there, looking for the same, lactose free milk.
No it's not the end of the world and I still use COST but oddly, since the lactose episode, I found myself passing by Costco on my way to Winco or Walmart. It has been YEARS since Costco was not automatically included in my errands stop list!
SO I have to ask, is there any plan at COST Headshed....to address the dwindling needs, tastes, frequency of visits and thus reduction of volume for said generation, the boomers or is this a non-event?
If feedback is solicited, I guess I would urge COST to post signs of inventory changes or continue to bog down your FRONT as folks stop by one by one to ask where the (whatever) is.......or maybe signs are a waste of time/money..........communicating with ones customer base is, however, seemingly never a waste of time! But hey.....I don't live/work in Kirkland!
Corporate pollination leading too/ hoping for// expecting a corporate harvest......IMHO
I don't know what else to say except I GIVE UP. I haven't kept track of the thousands I have spent in Lowe's and this is not the issue. It's the surprises. A Troy Built wood chipper.....QUICK START instructions show a well located raised oil spout access behind the gas tank. But the chipper itself has a bottom crank case oil FILL that requires an oil funnel or some means other than by hand, directly from the bottle to place oil into the engine.
Your store delivered another Chipper today, surprise, same issue. Showed driver what was wrong with mine, we checked his replacement and again, surprise, we both learned that's how this model comes. Told him to return it to the store and I would go find some kind of thin necked oil funnel for this troy-bilt chipper I already had. So, FIRST, WRONG QUICK START instructions with chipper. SECOND, no funnel or other means to put oil into the engine. THIRD, who in the world still uses a BOTTOM oil reservoir fill other than antique machinery? Bottom access GUARANTEES spillage which of course is bad for the engine, environment, and operator safety potentially. Not to mention the HASTLE...absence of any means to do this out of the box if you will. Loved the QUICKSTART INSTRUCTIONs but didn't know there was a BOTTOM FILL until I read the so called, FINE PRINT.
The store manager offered to reimburse my delivery fee and I said no need too, that was not what my anger was all about, he did so anyways and I understand trying to please the customer so, there you go. However I wondered how much money Lowes is forking over to appease customers thus not covering the cost of operation, IE delivery, delivery costs/fuel and driver of TWO pacing items, a truck and a forklift.
Tired of the surprises and half attempts like this which was one of those hey, Quick Instructions FOR YOU Mr Customer ahhhhhh...but your model is different.......you're on your own to oil this thing up and operate.
I place this experience into the land of mediocrity.
because no matter what day it is, no matter what the markets do, no matter what is said about it, no matter what Costolo or others at TWTR say, it can't help but #$%$ where ever it goes............all IMHO but ....HEY! What is THAT SMELL ?
the 21st century MCD! One of the healthier meals that can be bought at a fastfood drive-thru and of course helps amplify smoothie/coffee sales! Bout time.
I realize the logistics had to be in place before such an endeavor but the question I have to ask is, WHAT TOOK SO LONG?
Others will follow...some are already there............but simply put, there is NO Distribution network like MCD that can exploit breakfast! You see folks BOOMERS have graduated away from alot of traditional fast food itmes BUT BREAKFAST, isn;t one of them. In fact, BOOMERS are eating breakfast today like they never have before! Maybe it's an age thing, I don't know!
Smartest move in fast Food since the WEN floating innovative menu which continues to crush and take market share from all with constant specialty turn-over!
If you were standing on snow covered ground, looking to your front to see where Costolo's tracks are as he moves forward, you would see nothing.
However, if you turned around, you would see his tracks as he moves backwards or at best, sideways. TWTR is a utility. It provides news, and communications at warp speed compared to traditional news sources. Monetizing this vehicle has proven impossible for current leadership who seem to be bordering on having WGAF syndrome or "Who Gives A... F?" syndrome.
It is time for Costolo to return to the MINORS regarding leadership. Perhaps he is a great "mechanic" so to speak but he seems short on vision and/or placing the pieces in their proper place toward CLIMBING into newer expanding profit centers. This of course can not happen until all the current LEAKS are fixed.
I don't get it but obviously, nor does Mr Costolo so thanks for the ride before the catastrophic drop, now please get out of the way and let a REAL MECHANIC with vision move into your office.
I suspect the day Mr Costolo is replaced, TWTR jumps 5 points min. assuming a well known FIXER moves onto campus. All IMHO....and perhaps unfair, but even investors seatbelts have not prevented catastrophic injury nor prompted Costolo to correct his ways.
Last but not least, Mr Costolo, I assume your capabilities are far better then your ability to convey as much. YOU are not a PR man. Being fluent matters and ones message needs to go FAR BEYOND merely addressing questions. That is to say, if your presence leads to a verbal dart game than either you need to change or someone else needs to face the firing squad on behalf of the TWTR brain-trust.
ws_pd.....I don't listen to anyone and not even you..........tell you what....why don't you do with your money what you wish and the rest of us will do the same and EVERYONE can live Happily Everafter knowing NO ONE is going to tell them what to do with their own money! Deal?
Oh and by the way, having been in the industry, it is resfreshing to listen to someone like Cramer who isn;t trying to scratch out a commission, isn't it?
Further, any INTELL analyst will tell you that bad information is as good as good information because it paints the source for future ref.
I didn't pick up anything of value from your post. Maybe you should listen to Cramer and get some ideas, he is afterall a GREAT BIRD-DOG and if you were a HUNTER, you would understand what I just said. Go back to your playground and stand under the slide waiting for your girlfriends wearing a dress to climb up to the top.
Oops, I'm sorry, I just love slapping around self anointed bullies, always have, even as a kid.
K I S S I N G !
First comes the beta, then comes the love, then comes GOOG/TWTR in the baby carriage!
Just kidding...I mean why would GOOG BUY TWTR? GULP.........I don't hear anything but SHORTs heading for the doors........................DOUBLE GULP !
All only IMHO......................
Love the coffee....love what you have donbe for shareholders but we all know SBUX has faced challenges along the way. As of late, you have become a liability. Love your innovation and leadership. I respect your will to change things in America that need changed BUT....shareholders have skin in the game and when you end up using a scorched earth approach to solving socail issues, you hurt ALOT of people.
If you want race discussions, talk to the biggest problem known to racial relations in almost a century, the entitlement king without accountability, SHARPTON.
Short of this, please call LArry Ellison, buy a race boat/ship..whatever.....and about 3 weeks before earnings and at least two weeks after earnings....go sailing and please don;t whip out these ideas that serve as obstacles. Respecting those who support you with their own hard earned money matters too. By the way Howard, most people don't have a racial problem however, it seems the hatred toward whites is higher than I have ever seen it and in the backdrop of more wealth than ever before, in human history being redistributed to the poor some real serious questions about how we do things need to be asked. This would be productive.
The biggest dilemma is the false notion of any race being OWED ANYTHING by anyone. This obstacle is what hurts so many poor and especially those who see their own skin color as a means of entitlement verses working for that american dream. AND frankly, too many of ALL RACES do make it out of the grips of poverty and entitlements to even consider blaming ones skin color as the reason for failure in this day and age. Too many opt for a life of crime and these are the PERPS of societies failures who SHOULD be the SUBJECT of any talk you want to initiate.
