    SDs hypothetical buyout scenario.....

    by boar292hog Mar 4, 2014 7:40 PM
    boar292hog boar292hog Mar 4, 2014 7:47 PM Flag

Actually it does if someone is deliberately trying to hold the price down...........and I emphasize....I am only throwing out a hypo of what could explain the funky price action!

  • Lets pretend COOP has a list of buyers and that a few expressed some interest. Enough time has gone by to fine tune the value of SD with KNOWN assets and a working assumption of the potential assets/cost of operation, etc., etc.
Or perhaps , the break up value if SD were to be separated and sold off, an everything goes type sale.

Following the Ward era, a buyer would want to see at least a FEW QUARTERS of performance/discovery, cost controls, production rates to establish a cost baseline and from there, a buyout figure.

Now, if SD were to run to say 9 or 10 bucks while this due diligence is occuring, it would ruin any buyout deal because if indeed SD is worth 15 bucks a share just on known assets, it would have to sell for 10 bucks to make it worth a buyers RISK w/the unknowns going forward.

Kind of hard to get shareholders excited if the stock is sitting at or near 9-10 bucks, we would reasonably want a higher price!

On the otherhand, a price of say 6.5 to 7.0 makes 10 look like a good deal.................

Purely a HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO but......I could see s similar dynamic at work if indeed there is a buyer(s) out there and the data we have is accurate. SDs trend is if a buyout is imminent, well, this COULD explain the stocks performance.............helped along by a weak energy sector today. Ignore the daily is all about this 6 buck trading range.............Hmmmmmm All only IMHO of course.....I guess I hang my hat on the fact that the SD floor is about a point higher than the previous 12 month floor! For what its worth....which is no more than a view!

  • This is crazy and acknowledging the stock price performance outright, WHERE the HAIL is the DIV increase? This is WAY beyond reason. Is the FED in the way? if so, what is it that BAC must do in order to pay the King his pence and move on? RIDICULOUS! Really....!

    SPEAK BAC!!!!

I wouldn't lose any sleep, the energy sector is down today. Seems SD has grown up alittle bit and is responding to sector volatility like it should despite its solid turn around and earnings report. I take this as a good sign and once again, bad timing for SD!

I think any new big players are going to wait and see where this sector volatility takes the price, hoping to get it cheaper like on days like today! All IMHO of course....

  • boar292hog boar292hog Mar 3, 2014 12:18 PM Flag

I wouldn't expect any ground breaking news EXCEPT perhaps yet a more detailed update of recent finds/production etc.

It is a time for analysts who have now digested the CC info./ to ask broader questions, address any concerns...and frankly, to PRY for info.!

For SD its window dressing time! A chance to give outsiders a feel for who they are and given Ward's method, I think this time can be used by Bennett to build confidence in his abilities and philosophies!

It is a DOG and PONY show, one that is greatly needed by SD given recent years relations w/wall Street and investors. All IMHO of course!

  • boar292hog boar292hog Mar 3, 2014 11:44 AM Flag

SDs luck for the last 5 years or so has been uncanny to the downside. It seems that even when SD pops one over the wall for a homerun, it is somehow blighted by the market with some bogus world event or some big mouth wall streeter who snipes at SD in the open.

Uncanny! In fact each of the last three quarters the markets shadow has tapped the brakes on SD just like today! I really can not believe the incredibily non-related bad news/fear that shackles SD everytime it is about to take a step forward!

On the other hand, we are in the 6.5+ range verses the high 5+ to very low 6 range..............SO.....I guess we all take what we can get!

  • OPPORTUNITY status IMO. It seems some W.Streeters are onto SD and perhaps SD is as cheap as its going to be looking forward!

I expect we begin to see SHORT positions begin to move out and I don;t think we have heard the last of the upgrades. SDs recent earnings is a game changer and potential/opportunity seem to be the operative words.

    All IMHO of course.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    R U challenged?

  • The debate is NOT ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE, the debate is about IT's CAUSE.

Climate change was here millions of years before you were born and will be here for many millions of years after you are gone. Does MAN cause climate change? NO. Can man's action ampify CLIMATE CHANGE, perhaps, but scientists are still discovering FLAWS in the Gore Disaster plan! LMAO!

Mr spudnut COOK, we use to have rivers that caught on fire, and we use to not care about pollution so, what's your beef?

Tell you what, you can BUY my shares NLT 31 MAR 2014 for 1000.00 per share after which the offer expires.

Its embarrassing to learn of some hollow PC statement from the head of AAPL so put your money where your mouth is and buy my stock.

High margins!? Of course not, I believe its called ECONOMY OF SCALE which won't help increase margins until the MASSES/HERDS are involved! LOL!

Look, half your neighbors have no clue what 3D printing is, the time to get in IS BEFORE they do! Be there holding the OAT BUCKET when your neighbors, THE HERDS discover it! In this case, 3D printing.

As for 4D printing, while I'm sure there are numerous applications, 3D printers are the engine here, PRODUCING a SOLID via a printing process which bypasses current manufacturing processes and results in a refined product which in a growing number of cases, exceeds current manufacturing capabilities.

4D will have its day but 3D is the butter to your bread for now! Yes, pun intended. All IMHO....

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

Say goodbye to 10.00! With known reserves (without a pencil to paper calc.) at a 400$ replacement level...and knowing there is more to be discovered, perhaps alot more, 10 bucks is too cheap. I say if a buyout is in SDs future, that it lands in the 12-15 range, MINIMUM! In my view!
Cashflow is on pace for over 800 million per year and increasing....cost controls and cost to produce are in check, debt is realistic and the recent GOM sale helps on all counts!

The fact that SD is taking the same region abandoned by SHELL and producing with it says alot about SDs operation and the potential ! All IMHO of course!

Two TD upgrades since Friday close

Agree, more upgrades will follow....SDs price is very depressed compared to where it should be given the progress in the turn around, the leadership change, and the production and reserve outlook.

SD has been totally shunned by Wall Street and Bennett's efforts, more importantly, his results coupled with a nice outlook, deserve much better!

I expect more to finally see what COOP has been talking about and sign on! IMHO of course!

  • loved, and FINALLY RECOGNIZED as the OPPORTUNITY it is by Wall Street ...AND...........the HERDS will follow!

I think SD is showing that it may well be the cheapest, most under-held, unloved, unknown, disrespected, and avoided ..........................ATTRACTIVE RISK/REWARD OPPORTUNITY in the PATCH! All IMHO !

..............I expect we see more players enter the fray...........

I agree, this sounds like more of an investigation on previous CEO/BOARD and perhaps, Family .

As I understand it, CHK's McClendon was accused questionably legal actions but if memory serves, these charges were unfounded.

Assuming this is all about previous leadership and Famliy, it is understandable why Bennett said shareholders need not worry.

Of course if you want a better position of negotiation, then you want to make it clear that you aren't interested in selling!

Then again, as you say, the metrics seem headed toward a much richer outcome for SD!!!!

Either way Whether they sell or hold!

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • their price targets! Hmmmmmm I guess this earnings report surprised ALOT of people! Especially, apparently, YOU NAYSAYERS and.....GULP !!!!! You SHORTS!

    Read it and weep!

3D is NEW in the sense that the BROADENED and GROWING application of this technology NOT TO MENTION the average consumer/investors level of awareness.....................well, i would say this, you can fight it and lose money or go with the flow and MAKE MONEY! All IMHO of course!

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • The Naysaying HERDS had lined up against DDD. Even some analysts talked of poisoned water surrounding DDD yet here we are, UP on the last day of the month in a down market on the day of earnings!

DDD and this sectors innovations are just now winning over respect and today furthers that in the case of DDD! Again, the AVERAGE guy out there on the street has NO IDEA what 3D printing is and what it means to the future of manufacturing, new product innovations, precision manufacturing, improved, near perfect production of sophisitcated fabriation pieces that can not be made using todays manuf. techniques.

DDD continues to corner its own market and naysayers had their run and have made zero headway because the facts got in the way today! LMAO! All IMHO !!!
