NRZ closed only .06 from it's 9 month high on strong above average volume. Nice way to end the quarter. Next Tues. is X/D.

I just noticed the two day move in UTF this morning. It really had not participated in the utility rally the past few weeks. Hopefully now it will catch up.

  • A bit active this morning, trading DOWN about 3.5%.

Hey ed. Never knew about this board till stagg mentioned it. Still don't know why two boards (sfl) but whatever. I posted that NRZ article on the NRZ board and thought I had posted it on the two others but I guess I forgot. My bad. That author, achilles, has been a long time bull on NRZ and writes many articles touting it. So far he's been right on. ETP my steady dividend bank since 2010. Glad it's recovered and continues to pay out handsomely. I added my second buy on AMID yesterday (thanks bill). Hope to hold longer than 6 weeks this time but my 30% profit last time wasn't too shabby.

    GLTU.

Any news on the NCT dividend?

Hi bob. If you're thinking about the timing it should be just around now, or next week latest. Last declaration was 3/29. NRZ was a bit later than normal this week. I don't hold it anymore so I don't follow it.

    best,
    bob

mark: re: how they did in 2008: NCT, which was a 9.5% yielder for a couple of years barely stayed out of BK. I bought a large chunk @.41 cents , mainly to lower my basis, which at the time was about $27.00 (lowered to about $3.00).. It certainly worked out well for me but as you stated, many higher yielding stocks either went under or have never recovered. So far NCT is the stock that keeps on giving NRZ, SNR, NEWM,NCT).

mark: $1,400 invested in 100 shares of ED in 1973. Today the ED is worth, with DRIPS.... ....wait for it.........$126,000, slightly less than a 100 bagger and I gave away 400 shares to my grandkids over the years.. As I"ve always posted, best money I ever spent.

ed: From Barrons today, re SXL:

Energy Transfer’s stock was 4% higher mid-afternoon Wednesday, but has rallied as it became clear the court would decide in its favor. By exiting the deal, it avoids $6 billion in acquisition debt, which Adams says is “clearly a positive from a short-term trading perspective, but may already be reflected in ETE levels.”

Longer term , Adams still has questions about the company’s future and its business model, which includes several master limited partnership subsidiaries including Energy Transfer Partners (ETP), Sunoco LP (SUN), and Sunoco Logistics Partners (SXL), and requires external capital for growth.

  • If you've watched the films from Turkey you see the one terrorist shot and fallen in the terminal. As he writhes in pain a man comes and looks over him for a few seconds, realizes he's a terrorist and apparently sees an explosive vest and runs for his life, just a few seconds before it detonates. Reminds me of Gen. Schwartzkopf's presser when he shows the car going over the long bridge over the Euphrates Rive in Iraq during Desert Storm. Also called him the luckiest man in the world as a jet bomber's pilot follows a guided bomb down on the bridge, hitting about a 100 feet behind the vehicle. On a happier note my best friend's daughter was in Istanbul this week and left this morning for the U.S. Her flight was 12 hours later. Phew.

Bill, bought back my AMID this morning @ $11.99, a bit higher than I wanted but looks like a winner, at least today. Also bought a position in ETE which I already traded out of with a keebon profit of about `1.6%. Intended to trade out of the AMID but I think there's a lot more upside.

suadela: If you go on Seeking Alfalfa you can enter your stocks and be notified when articles or news breaks on them. It's free and worthwhile, even though you have to understand where some of the authors/bloggers are coming from. Many have agendas, either long or short. Also the comments at the end of the articles are pretty interesting to read. GLTU

Sold the ETE for a small profit. Will hang on to the AMID as I think it's got room to run. ETE is a question mark with all the publicity surrounding it. I accomplished my aim for today :~). NRZ continues to show remarkable strength. Has Mr.Market FINALLY realized what a gem it is.

jk: SILVER.......what's up with that? Great question. $18.39 even with the market in full blown bounce back. You'd think precious metals would be taking a breather.

I have been anxiously awaiting tonight's API (American Petroleum Institute's) weekly inventory report. As jk noted the DOW has been following oil prices pretty much in lockstep for a while. Here's the numbers:

The American Petroleum Institute (API) indicated in a preliminary report that crude inventories could have fallen nearly 4 million barrels for the week to June 24, some two-thirds more than the 2.4 million barrels expected by analysts.

The actual drawdown was 3.9 million barrels just about what the prelim report suggested. If pre market looks up tomorrow morning I will be buying. Oil should be rallying again on those numbers.

Hi ed. LOL. Go figure. All the money that fled to the safe haven of the utes the past week or so left today for the rest of the market. My only RED today was ED and a penny down on T. Nice recovery of yesterday's losses though. I'm waiting to see tonight's Petroleum Institute's inventory numbers on oil. If there was a significant drawdown I'd expect the market to continue to climb tomorrow on a rise in the price of oil. I may dip my toes back in the morning if that's the case. Still wary this is a dead cat bounce.
