Mark Hulbert had a nice article in the weekend WSJ - used research by Negat Seyhun a finance professor at U of M (Michigan) who has studied insider trading extensively. Noted selling in such areas as tech, capital goods, consumer durables (auto, constru, appliances) and consumer nondurables like food, beverage, clothing and tobacco. He sees those numbers "as pessimistic as I've ever seen over the last 25 years"..........BUT BUYING IS HOT in energy - industrials and financials. SO -- we are sitting good with our energy plays and you know as the US and world economies pick up steam (moderated for sure) these sectors will be solid. You can see money-flow to energy is solid and financials are rising so it fits what we see and it should get better. I do see the "community" at Motley Fool rates USEG at one - the lowest BUT of course that can change. So it appears that they too side with me in terms of caution. Of course Earthstone with such a low float isn't even followed there. My Vaalco has a strong rating and has been performing excellent. Stil own the etf xle and xlf and others. Large and small plays so remain bullish as well on energy. I see continental resources just rocking and it is interesting to note that Earthstone is in the exact same fields...........again - my call is Earthstone is very undervalued and will likely be sold by Ray. His properties are solid/high value and as noted the company is very clearn - no need to divest assets or hope and dream. Good luck - we shall see what the week brings and if the Ukraine brings any turmoil to the markets.
Boolean - let us all be right.
So now you folks are hedging TOO -- the huge certain profits are all of a sudden.........well.........not so sure - probable - for sure. Now you are falling in line with management as you should. So - you folks were PUMPING this one. I mean look - you have this jaws or who ever it was saying you have two more big time players coming into the stock next week.........come on. That is lame -hype. This all just makes me even more suspect.
And anyone worth their due diligence already knows of the massive studies on the different accounting methods for oil/gas and there is NO DEFINITIVE negatives as long as they play by the rules of each method.
Now - Earthstone is driving forward and Ray has played it very safe........too safe for many investors as they could not wait but now it is all coming on stream in a big way and.........there is much more to come. The company is lean and can now drive the bottom line hard --- wait for the coming Q's. USEG on the other hand is flopping around trying to grab the bar before it all falls apart. They are not focused like Earthstone and that has hurt them. Boolean
so you are telling me that you can tell me WITH CERTAINTY what the earnings will be yet management won't even give an inkling as they stated all the issues out there...........do you see those thoughts do not line up. Earthstone is like a laddered bond investment - they are making money NOW and growing NOW and have built slowly to this point and now have major traction to move forward on. USEG has not been able to drive profitability yet - there is always something that hits them. I know all about the accounting discussions but most smaller players use the full cost method so no smoke and mirrors there. Earthstone is a simple company where USEG is clouded with all kinds of crappola - yes they finally are clearing some of that out but I will wait to see this Q to judge if they are making progress or not. This stock rose on HOPE but will be crushed if that hope turns to hopeless this Q.
And of those super investors buying all those shares looking for 8-9 bucks soon -- come on now...........is it really all that easy? I am very anxious to see what the do this Q and if it looks promising I am in.........until then I am suspicious. Boolean
"stocks that rise on low volume are in strong hands".............PROVE IT PLEASE. SHOW ME THE DATA. I say your statement is FALSE.
hey that little ntn is up huge from my buys in the 20's........CENTS level and now is at 70 CENTS. That could be huge. Just bought luby's on a turn around as well and campus crest communities and I have a tech lined up for Monday. Earthstone energy is a gem below the radar. I am having a good solid discussion on US Energy site as well. We can't just be YES YES investors - you must question and is why I questioned a prior (now ostracized from the people and his party) presidente' and was right. THINK don't just lemming your way through life. Boolean
and this stock could go parabolic --- like taser back in the day. But even though I own A LOT OF SHARES NOW they still have to SHOW ME THE MONEY b-4 I add more. Are they able to monetize this and bring the money to the bottom line WHERE IT COUNTS. Even a little to start. Boolean
OK - BLOWOUT Q 1........BUT read the report again and you see management hedging on almost all points and even though said they would not give guidance as they are aware of all the unknowns and potential hits on the way to the bottom line. Some of you are falling in love with this stock and losing the value of intellect. It is like someone who is a Democrat or a Republican and believes without a doubt that everything their party does is right........lemmings not thinking human beings. Read what you all write here - it is based on Buda and massive output but you never confront the COST SIDE and the UNKNOWNS that are their and which have continually hit this company. Does management finally have their grasp on this - I don't think so. For me - I will wait for Q1 and then look out at Q2 and more likely Q3 where clarity should be much much better. Q1 will tell you a lot and really --- that is where I will take a small position IF it appears to be trending right. But to say they will have a BLOWOUT Q1 in earnings just is disingenuous. I hope I am bringing some further evaluation to this assessment - Mr. Market is a WILEY BEAST and you can never assume you have him whipped because he will crush you. Hands down.........right now - Earthstone is a much better investment. Yes I now of Contango - I owned it and sold it at its high years back.........another was Dawson Geophysical that I did the same with at that time. Contango is a solid company and I should have bought it back when it was crushed. Still own a basket of oils and the ETF/xle. Did buy ion geophysical just before its jump recently - hit the low end and my buy point should be stated on that board as I usually do - I say it WHEN not AFTER I buy. Good luck but THINK. Boolean
have a seance or anything -- there is so much hope and dreams and uncertainty involved in the coming Q and beyond -- the same old thing. Costs in the oil field are rising and they will need to borrow and rates are rising so that will get them soon. The molyb is a total unknown. How you can have any confidence in a team who has demonstrated repeatedly that you can't - just look at their returns after pounding table about the huge top line gains............but minimal bottom line. This is a tough sell for me --- they have to SHOW ME THE MONEY THIS Q first.........you are way to over confident right here kids. Boolean
YUP stock UP and Uncle SHUT'SUP...........OK. Done with this one you got my POINT and proved me RIGHT so enough of this little tirade. Much to do --- some new plays to add to my recent additions I have noted of Luby's and campus crest. Now looking at a tech play See you again at price point noted. Boolean
and it is at the upper end of its range SO......what next. DROP next week Monday? I really do want this to be a winner as I love the solid insider funds that hold it AND it has some solid numbers EXCEPT FOR MANAGEMENT EFFECTIVENESS and EARNINGS. Not a good duo. BUT......there is still hope and IF they an start to bring it together it COULD b a real winner. SO I will keep watching and assessing. Boolean
thi s management and insider group have not boosted shareholder value for a very long time -- they just ride the waves and see where it takes them. No consistency so investors will not give them the time of day - ride the wave but then sell it off. They need to step it up and not just sit back scrapping off the big bucks while investors take the tarring and feathering. This was a solid day for almost all of my small fry plays yet this one sunk like a skunk under my bunk. You kids have no idea do you how long this has been going on. Boolean
my little ntn buzztime was even up as was luby's that I play for a turn around value -- wow.
You come on the board and smile when the stock drops but are no where to be found when it rises -- I know your type.......psychology remember. Then you try to stroke us in a veiled attempt to soften your real feelings. Very troubling trait.........think about it. I may be wrong about this stock and Ray.....BUT I DON'T THINK SO. Boolean
Earthstone is a much better investment -- but I will keep following in case management figures out how to bring cash to the bottom line -- remember that costs are rising and they have not proved able to control lower costs let alone higher costs. I WAS RIGHT - YOU NAYSAYERS believed this Q would signal great things but instead it was as I said.............. yes..........your welcome.......I am on your side. Boolean
and he stood and looked into the face of it all and............continued onward. How many times have those who you thought were nuts proved to be the smartest one in the room. Wow -- I will keep watching. Well back to earthstone, ntn buzztime, verso and supreme industries sites. Boolean
lateral - this little company is a gem but so far management has not shown the ability to do anything but ride the wave of Big Daddy Federal work -- a larger company or at least one with growth initiative could do wonders with this company. As for Obama care -- I wish both parties would work on a better health care plan for the citizens of the USA - we are one of the lowest rated in the world for nothing. I had socialized care in Italy and it was better than I ever had in the USA. No one liked medicaid or medicare either when that all started. So - hopefully Obamadispair finds itself some way and ends up being a great system for the USA. Boolean
or close at 23 - all that has been said has been said now we have to wait for the answers. Mr Market ALWAYS REWARDS VALUE.........the time frame is the unknown. Enjoy. Boolean
majority of small oil/gas companies use full cost and the SEC has put in a lot of fine print that must be followed that really makes the "aggressive" stance not so. The big thing is the longer you use one method or the other makes it harder if not impossible to switch to the other. And in the end it all smooths out any way -- you have to hit the wells and be successful and if not - no accounting is going to bail you out. Earthstone and Ray Singleton are doing a great job -- follow the path of this once tiny company and you see a continual rise in success within the oil/gas markets/fields. Earthstone in my opinion is a great buy on any dips and I suspect you feel the same about US Energy. Good luck. Thank you for the good discussion. Boolean
When all the people are pointing their fingers at him it leads me to believe that he has the right answer. The HERB could go down to nothing.
campus crest communities since it has been wiped out ---- hey uncle - maybe that one will work out better for me..........or maybe tomorrow on my birthday I pick up MORE EARTHSTONE just as I did down in the 12's........remember that Uncle.......now..........SAY UNCLE. Just a blip on the trip.......higher. Boolean
