Here are the individual stock. No takers during this contest for KTCC. Maybe that is a sign of capitulation and a bottom. I was tempted but decided to go with my more growth oriented picks.

Just got another fat dividend posted to my account. Keep it up!!!

  • bottomsupinvestor by bottomsupinvestor Dec 30, 2014 7:49 PM Flag

Just wanted to say howdy and wish you a prosperous new year. I was just thinking of you and the HSR wiggy days and thought I would look you up. I am glad to see you are still posting away. Not sure if you are still dabbling in the market or laying back on your investment laurels. I still run a contest on the KTCC board on occasion.

    Good luck to you!!!

That is a good question. That might screw up my estimated 2014 tax payments. If it lingers out to the ninth of January, the remaining portion of my shares will be a long term capital gain. I guess we have to wait and see how it is posted in our brokerage accounts. Please keep me up to date on what happens with your account. So far, I have not heard anything from Fidelity concerning this transaction.

Absolutely no changes in the contestant rankings.

They certainly need a plan to control inventory. It has always been on the high side.

Howdy BB. Most of my stocks I find through screening. I have some of my own screens that I have set up using stock screening software. They tend towards smaller companies with a element of both value and modest growth. I also follow a couple of other public screens like the Zweig and Piotroski screens through AAII (American Association of Individual Investors). I also troll around and get leads from folks on the boards like you.

As far as HIHO, I do currently have a small to medium position. I have owned them on and off since sometime in 2009. Right now I feel they are a buy around $2.8 and a sell around $3.3. I detest Chinese companies and find that the vast majority are out for what they can get out of investors. For HIHO, I don't have same company concerns as a Chinese company but I do have regulatory concerns of the Chinese government. They seem to have very strong foreign ties and I would guess the CEO and COO are German. They seem to be very responsive to market conditions and making company changes as needed. I would classify this as high risk and unfortunately they will be lumped with other Chinese companies and given a lower PE multiple as a result. They have paid lots of irregular dividends in the last 5 years or so which other scam operations don't do.

I know you look at insider trading a lot. Do you have any special criteria or just troll around looking for the right candidate with insider buying?

It looks like the ticker is not active any longer this morning. So far the board is still up. I can be found on the KTCC board if it does go down. In fact, I run an informal stock contest there, so if anyone would like to join in the future, please do so. Unfortunately, we just start a new one and it lasts 3 months.

    Not much longer now.

I owned JAKK a few years back before their wrestling contract (WWE?) ran out and was not renewed. I sold with that on the horizon and some general softening of the outlook. Hopefully, they are back to a growth trend.

I also owned LF in 2013. I was somewhat concerned about competition from non toy competitors entering the kids tablet market so I sold for a modest profit. I believe LF is well beyond competition with their content.

Yep, me too on the 9th which happens to be the last day for long term capital gains on my shares. Oh well, just glad to have the payout.

    Thanks for the heads up.

That and maybe the strong dollar doesn't help either. In any case I bought back in a little and at a level higher than at which I sold while missing some dividends. Oh well.

When did you buy your shares? You needed to be a shareholder of record by 12/17/2014 which means you need to have bought the shares a few days before that like on the 14th of December since I believe the x-div date to have been on the 15th.
