    Christmas for HIMAX!

I am just asking honest questions. With the amount of HIMX stock that I own, it is rather important. I have been patiently waiting here for some solid news and want to sort out the speculation.

HIMX will never again see $10 just accept it.

Wow, your calls on other boards REALLY REALLY stink badly too. The couple I have seen were just before the stock took off (PGNX and GERN). I am not intending to be mean but with your track record, I would just find a safe hobby to spend your time or get a job flipping burgers.

So far, any claim that HIMX LCOS is in Hololens or Occulus is purely speculation. Why do you think it is a probability especially after previous posters have put together a possible connection with Microvision (MVIS) and Hololens?

I couldn't imagine what would be a better call. Sales up 25% YOY and EPS even higher beating estimates. Seasonal slow down is less than I expected for Q4. Lots of new products starting to ship early in 2015 and throughout the year. What better can you expect???

I am not an expert on either company but some basic valuation measures point towards PSX and possible capital gains.
    P/E; PSX 9.58 KMI 34.5
    P/B: PSX 1.91 KMI 3.4
    P/S: PSX 0.27 KMI 2.64

Don't forget that dividends change and today's investment can lead to tomorrow's dividend increases.

Well the most important and only pertinent fact is that they hit guidance. What anyone else says or expects is irrelevant. I can have any company miss by putting up unreasonable expectations.

Here is an analogy. I am going to run a timed mile and say I will probably do it in 7 minutes. They someone comes along and says I will do it in 3 minutes. I actually do it in 6 1/2 which would be unimaginable and a record to me. But it is a "miss" because I did not break the world record.

You are right in that games are being played with the stock but I think ntcse has a point. Games can only be played for so long and in the end true value will prevail. Sooner would be best but later will happen at some point.

I got out first thing this morning. It is too long to wait for a turn around. Credit downgrade. They need to stabilize the businesses and won't break things apart for at least a year. LTC may or may not be profitable. I can't wait around and hope.

Well that says a lot about a person when they admit they were wrong about something or at least want to bridge the gap. It is so easy to take things the wrong way on a message board or get little too animated.

I am going to forget about the market today since it is too nice outside.

It looks like it is holding the gains well considering the recent run up and the negative overall market today. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yea, I know about that at in the first version but the teardown of the latest developer version did not mention any HIMX controller. (google the ifix breakdown at the end of July 2014). Who knows what will be in the final version. There is a lot of speculation out there. Some of it will pan out and some not but it is good to know what is reality and what is augmented reality or speculation.

    is Himax in Oculus VR?

Google "oculus rift teardown". No mention of HIMX in the latest teardown:

If you're inclined, you can open up a Rift headset using a standard Phillips #0 screwdriver, tweezers, and some other tools. One interesting discovery is that the display is the front panel of a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, iFixit said. That element seems to point to Oculus already taking advantage of its partnership with Samsung, which plans to bring Oculus' technology into mobile devices, CNET recently reported. With tens of thousands of the prototype expected to ship, iFixit postulated that the production numbers were still too small to merit a custom display quite yet.

Also, using an infrared camera, the iFixit team was able to capture a picture of the 40 infrared LEDs inside the headset.

The device uses chips from Toshiba, STMicroelectronics, Cypress Semiconductor, and Texas Instruments to run, iFixit found. Less

Unfortunately, we heard the EXACT same thing when they bought the metal manufacturing company. It was supposedly opening the door to many new opportunities. So far sales and earnings dropped. We did not even hear anything about the progress or lack thereof from that metal acquisition which I think was supposed to be accretive.

Before that, we were supposed to be seeing organic growth from folks bringing business back to North America which obviously didn't happen. Also, they seemed to imply that the major customer slow down was near the bottom but that also seems to be still dropping and is both of the major customers.

Of course, this time may be different. I still own a good deal of shares but at this point it may be a "show me the results" situation before I can believe any predictions or outlook.

    Valuation Question

I have wondered the same thing. Maybe the other PEs can't be justified but in any case there does seem to be an inconsistency. I actually have less stress and apprehension at these price levels. I think the upside is much greater than the downside and I feel comfortable holding it here. We will get some good announcements and they will eventually hit the bottom line. It is when things come together, I think it is much more difficult to try to guess how far things will run.

Yep, I agree with you glhsken. The lower price won't matter one bit on R&D spending. Sometimes companies get nervous with a low share price because of hostile takeovers but I don't think that is an issue either.

I am sitting here keeping busy while waiting for the CC. The thing is that I don't know how to react to what is said on the call. If it is bad it is bad. If it is good, I don't know if I can believe any optimistic remarks. Management has lost some credibility with me so I guess I can only believe bad news which make the call somewhat pointless for me.
