Strong market rebound and HIHO tanks. It was holding strong until now. I expected it to hit this range at some point but not today. Picked up some cheap shares.

  • bottomsupinvestor by bottomsupinvestor Feb 11, 2016 9:00 PM Flag

Picked up a few at 20.05 bringing my average on this last go around to 23.80. Maybe I should get some more before earnings come out towards the end of next week.

I wouldn't scoff at 20 cents. You don't have to sell them all at once. After finally listening to the conference call, I can't really find anything positive. When Karen says that RB4 was a successful launch with lower sales than expected, terrible margins, and bloated inventory, I really don't know what to say. It doesn't sound like there will be anything different going forward. I was going to hold a few token shared until after the call but sold too just before the report.

I am not one to be backing up b_fr_nk but the report and balance sheet looks butt ugly. No doubt dilution ahead and big headwinds to battle.

    ANOTHER EFFEN UPSIDE BLOWOUT!!!!

    by mark2marqet Feb 8, 2016 5:15 PM

Probably because years ago they were selling in the teens and had an earnings goal of $3 per share and still have not been able to come close and have actually went backwards. They had improvement and cost cutting programs now for the second time since. It has not been an easy road for longer term investors especially if you look at five year chart comparisons for folks like HBI (Hanes) or GIL (Gildan).

Also, there have been too many mistakes like Soffe losing major business and still not getting back to where it was prior and less than smooth transitions like getting Salt Life product out in Q4.

As always, they go through the cyclical cotton pricing spikes that destroy margins.

They talk like the balance sheet is the best in the world but my comfort level was somewhat stretched last year. Long term debt has risen over the years and hopefully is now trending down.

There are lots of reasons it is not selling for a higher price. Hopefully, some of the metrics will change for a longer period and bring about a higher share price.

Yes, the most popular the previous contest had no takers on this one. I sold the vast majority of my shares before today but still hold a few. I could not put any trust into the contradiction of saying the company had adequate funding and then were looking to sell shares one quarter later. When a company does something that is a total contradiction, I can't believe anything management says.

    First Quarter Report;

    by skiplarson98 Feb 4, 2016 11:10 PM
bottomsupinvestor bottomsupinvestor Feb 5, 2016 8:53 PM Flag

I just listened to the call and read the report. It was a great quarter as I expected. It sounds like business a usual going forward however with fewer shares outstanding helping earnings due to the recent buyback. Also, the opportunity for what it sounds like 3 larger orders may provide some upside and good numbers for 2016. This is a nice holding. I like the way management uses debt. They us it when needed and for a specific purpose and then promptly pay it off. They are probably one of the best management teams of my holdings.

I thought it was only the 4th also. My brokerage software confirms that the Nov of 2015 was in fact the 4th payment at 0.385 and the next will be the 5th. Maybe the company got confused like a lot of us too :),

With the uncertainty out there, the company probably wanted to be somewhat conservative. It might be different if the world's economy was cooking. I was thinking it an increase might not take place until next Q.

  • bottomsupinvestor by bottomsupinvestor Jan 27, 2016 4:33 PM Flag

It was an OK quarter but I am not so sure about the excitement. Year over year is no great shakes especially when you consider the 0.06 per share R&D credit gain this quarter and the acquisition costs the year ago quarter. Guidance for next Q is OK but probably down YOY. There have been problems for years now with large customers decreasing production or larger than expected production startup costs on new business resulting in low margins. In the end, who can see ahead for holes in a bucket that are not yet there? With the low valuation, the share price seems like a reasonable one but apparently the company doesn't think shares are cheap enough to buy any back at least with the debt load that they took on.

You are correct in the fact that all three are perpetuals however I am thinking that B and C shares have a specific redemption date (not the call date) by which they need to be paid or the rates increase. This obviously is a big incentive to redeem. D shared don't have a redemption date. If you have the time, please look at the actual prospectus' of these and let me know what you think. Maybe I am not reading and understanding it correctly. I can show you how to find the prospectus links on quantumonline if needed.

NIce job. You sound spot on. I raised some cash too at the end of the year but not nearly that much. I also traded a small position in SDS (2X short) multiple times. I missed most of the big drop but got a lot of smaller back and forths. I have bought a little but might be way too soon.
