You know how I love to read/research. I have been slogging though the "Mitrokhin Archive" for the last month. Americans are so numb to "news" that nothing in this book makes a headline. I have finished "Disinformation" and headed straight into more unpronounceable and indistinguishable Russian names. There is anti-virus software that uses heuristics to set off the alarm. Rather that look for specific code snippets it is.........if it acts like a virus it probably is a virus......we don't need to know the specific code, we can draw conclusions from what it does or is trying to do. If we applied the same logic to the headlines on US websites we would find that the cold war had a hiccup for 18 months when Yeltsin was in power. Russian and China now have direct access to our citizens. No need for cloak and dagger or tanks etc. The battle is on and we are totally open and vulnerable. Might make a good movie plotline. Or..........

Give me a little time to research this. Always open to ideas. Especially from you. How about Russia now? The claims to be some kind of transitional democracy are defied by the executed journalists. Things have really 180'd since we were trading the Eastern European CEF's. I miss those big year end distributions though. Back to you later after some searching.

I disagree. When they hit the exit on HK we are looking at 8 million shares. 200K is peanuts.

  • Unless they cut the divi or production estimates this is just a "stock market thing". I sold almost half of my shares at 34.5 in a portfolio rebalance. Would be a buyer at todays price. Still holding 6K shares. Don't worry. This too will pass.

  • I invest on the story. I like having more than one reason to buy. In the past I bought Canadian oils as oil was going up AND the Canadian dollar was going up AND volumes were going up. So the stocks did well. With HK now oil is going down ( but 80% of production is hedged). The dollar doesn't matter as we are living in dollars and volumes are growing quarter over quarter. So the story remains untouched by the day to day trading of those that make the market every day. The OPEC CARTEL will keep oil around 100 plus or minus. The troubles in Russia and Libya and Israel will keep us one headline away from 105+. 105 is a psychological boost but essentially kinda meaningless with 80% hedged. So long as efficiency is rising along with production volumes we are still on story. That is all I really care about. I bought KOG in the 5's and sold at 11. I rolled it into HK at 6+ and will sell at 15 or above. The rest is just noise. I don't like seeing red ink in my portfolio but have been up and down a couple times already here on the way to 15+.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

You have added a lot of characters to your screen name but I do remember you. Statistical arbitrage, right? I stopped investing in BRIC cef's when the game was over. Flailed around looking for a place to land. Went into oil and nat gas when it crashed after 2008. I mostly have LP's MLP's and royalty trusts now. My father (RIP) used to say.....better lucky than smart. I bought 5250 shares of AHHAP for around 5-6. Found it on Quantumonline and did some reading. I got 6 quarters of dividend payments (on the 25 face) before they de-listed and stopped reporting. It went below .25 then. I moved half of my shares to my ROTH at .17 and watched as I got whole on the 25 face over time. Better lucky than smart. My broker at Fidelity called me to ask me how I knew to do this. Uhhhh. You play the game long enough and the odds catch up with you and one of your moves turns to gold. Nice to see you again. We had a nice group back then in RNE. No politics or other stuff. Sharing info. It was very nice. Hope you are doing well and in good health. I am occasionally on the HK, SD, SJT, DMLP message boards. Adios for now.

My call is we close within .15 cents of open. It is Friday so that might skew the pricing for one day. This 30 dollar stock that is trading in the 7's has most of the bad news baked into the price. All bets are off if the comments from management about the restatements prove false.

My shares held at Fidelity just changed to a number (00438GXXX) from AHHAP symbol. I left off the last 3 digits just in case this number is personal to me.

I had some Halliburton years ago. The hate on that board was off the charts.
