Up 83.5% YTD.... More than happy to see these guys get shares with that kind of return!!!
I choose option 2, hands down....
What is the Bull case? Here are my thoughts on why I am long....
Incredibly low PE
Margins staying firm in the new Duopoly
Demand is increasing rapidly due to the "Cloud" and the storage boom
Shares being repurchased hand over fist which not only raises the EPS but makes it much easier for the company to be bought out since it lowers the already low P/E..... Goal at the end of 2013 is 215m shares outstanding.
Large dividend payout which the company said they plan on increasing 10% yoy
STX large investments in R&D allow them to lead the industry in enterprise storage
SSD's are not overtaking HDD's or hybrids due to price and not being anywhere close to meeting demand in enterprise...
Unforeseen injection of cash from WDC lawsuit (700m)
New product launches by MSFT
Historic time for the Tech sector to climb (Oct.-Feb) Due to companies spending on technology infustructure before the end of the yr. Not to mention holiday spending
Jim Cramer does not like this stock
Just my thoughts
I saw that too... Looks like the auction will be in November, I am really curious what they are planning on doing with the site if they get it.
What is it again? Insiders selling some shares or maybe the macro economy....
If you are a bear please make your case, I like to hear both sides. But at the moment I see little reason to not be long.
Really??? No free bags at your grocery store??? Where do you live?
Well I'm a younger voter.... And me and my friends made a mistake last time, we will not do it again... There ARE NO JOBS FOR US! It is so sad you partisans on both sides spew all sorts of lies.... But all I know is I am no better now than I was before. BTW all this politics stuff makes me sick, but I would like to have a life with a job, which I can not due with this guy in office
I had GG as well but got out a little too soon... Sold my shares on Mon. and missed the nice little gain it had today...
Thanks for the input I will probably take a close look at MRVL
They expect margins to stay strong for the foreseeable future.... They do not expect anyone to try to buy share. This is the reason both WDC and STX were up... No price war and huge profits are here to stay... Not to mention other positive comments regarding returning $$$ to shareholders....
By the end of 2013 they would like to get the share count down to about 215m.... EPS is going alot higher even if revs. stay flat (which they do not foresee) due to buy to the buyback alone....
Even if there was no stock repurchase they are forecasting huge growth due in part by the "cloud"
Energenic77 I recommend you listen to today's call on the Seagate website (lots of interesting things going on with this company) and re-evaluate what broker you use...
Steve also said that they exceeded expectations on the retail side... I agree with you whothehecknos, that no guidance is good news
I like what Steve is saying about how no one in the industry is trying to buy share... Margins are here to stay!!!
This isn't STX related but what stocks have you been playing around with recently... You were within 3 days of calling the bottom with the copper miners about a month ago... I have lightened up on some of my other positions recently and am looking around for some trading ideas... What are your thoughts (or anyone for that matter)
As long as margins are fine we are good! This is not the quarter to judge revs.... Like I said before Oct. thru Feb. is our best time to be in tech stocks... Also we have a ton of launches heading our way. All of what I just said does not even take in to account the low valuation, buyback, pending litigation, dividend, etc.
Escape are you still in ARNA??? I was looking at getting in, I know it seems like I am way late to that party but with the Obesity Society annual meeting coming up and ARNA likely to be on the market by mid 2013 do you think there is still a good entry point???? Or should I keep looking?
I was thinking about buying OTM puts and calls for VHC too but haven't pulled the trigger.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Historically tech stocks do well from Oct.-Feb. so I think a bottom around now is very possible....
A lot of events on the horizon that could push the stock higher as well....
