  • I think this is crazy that they are not issuing any press releases, even in response to the hedge fund article yesterday. I'm just curious if any of you have tried calling IR.

  • If you look at my previous postings, I am long MNKD and I continue to be. The CNBC was poorly written, and I wanted to get your thoughts on Pfeffer's comments and analyze it.

I'll copy and paste paragraphs from the article and give you my take.

    1) Matthew Pfeffer, MannKind's chief financial officer, strongly contested Karp's thesis. In particular, he said that comparing Afrezza and Exubera wasn't fair. He noted Afrezza's much smaller physical size, saying it was about as large as a pocket-sized whistle. By comparison, he said that Exubera was the size of a tennis ball can and resembled a bong.

My thoughts: I totally agree but he didn't do a good job of saying they are completely different but this is straightforward.

    2) He also said that Afrezza is likely to be priced at around the same level as injectable insulin; Exubera was far more expensive. Pfeffer added that cancer fears were overblown and that the warning label was expected by the company and specific to certain at-risk groups.

"We think it's a much improved, next generation product," Pfeffer said.

My thoughts: Again, straightforward and I agree but he could have done a better job talking about the label.

    3) Pfeffer was also optimistic on MannKind finding a partner to market Afrezza, a deal he hoped would be in place to launch the product late this year or early next.

My thoughts: The way I read it, he means that the product will be launched late this year or early next, thus, shouldn't a partner be in place way before that? Doesn't it take some time logistically? So maybe there is a partner?

    4) "We have every reason to think we will have a partner," he said.

My thoughts; This concerns me but it also might be good. "we have every reason to think…"--this might mean that they have a partner in place, but perhaps he's not able to disclose it? Or on the other hand, it could mean they have no partner at all and are still hoping they will have one. Any other thoughts?

It was over $8 a couple of weeks ago…I don't understand why it's going down so fast on no news.

Thanks for your input everyone. I guess misery likes company and it's reassuring to hear from others in the same boat and nice to see what others' thoughts are about this predicament.

E-Trade also says earnings are today. It's frustrating that these online brokerages don't have their days right!

  • To me, it seems that $CHGG has been manipulated like crazy. I am long the stock and have enjoyed the recent rally (although I am still ultimately down in it because I bought around the time of the IPO). What do you guys make of it's huge move up and today's heavy volume selling? Surely not all of the volume is from the Seeking Alpha article, is it?

What do you think? I think maybe it's Hedge Fund manipulation of a volatile stock or someone knows something--either good or bad.

    Sentiment: Hold
