CORN hit 52wk low leg down coming

All the feed ingredients are down.
Corn, wheat, soybeans, fish meal, calcium all down and continue to drop.
Furthermore, there is a reported shortage of protein sources in China, particularly pork.
The avian flu issue earlier this year also impacted the supply worldwide with the disease currently "out of control" in Asia and new issues in UK, EU FSU countries.
This low cost of inputs with steady product demand should be good for BRFS, CALM, PPC, SAFM.

Rising dollar a problem for WHR

Yes. Not only do they have a currency problem where competition is eating their lunch such as products from Korea, they also reported a problem even in Brazil where the currency is plummeting in value. In Asia, it will be amazing if their sales do not plummet during the upcoming quarter. They manufacture in Brazil (and I guess elsewhere in that region) which makes less sense they did so poorly in South American countries. They did do well in African countries where they have extremely low cost of production.

  • I guess energy prices need to be high so input costs are high for SPH to profit more?
Summers need to be cold so nobody does any cooking on their gas grills for SPH make money?
TIA for your input relating to energy costs and summer heat related to this company.

With ban lifted basmati imports to Iran will absorb all surplus basmati available thus lifting prices. If Iran were to import as much as its citizens want, it could create a shortage. Basmati is by far THE Iranian peoples choice rice for festivities, weddings, anniversaries, holidays etc.

  • The price of beef has resulted in contraction due to limits to elasticity of demand bands.
On the other hand, "Chicken segment operating margin of 11.4%"
    See TSN quarterly report today.
Should be good for PPC and SAFM.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Tyson in trouble because retail beef prices have reached a plateau above maximum demand elasticity.
The direct beneficiaries are chicken and pork with chicken availability far more widespread in stores and restaurants. Chicken is a restaurant food in accelerating demand.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

Which low risk bonds are generating yields higher than VTR dividend?

What I like about VTR is simple demographics, great management, company's strong history, ability to successfully maneuver through periods of interest rate rises. I think you will find VTR will handle debt as in the past and come out of it even stronger. It forces companies to make hard decisions, the same decisions that should have already been made regardless of the rate environment.
You do point out the challenges which is good to see.

Brad Pitt Weighs In On the Costco Egg Debate

    by netlosstoo Jul 16, 2015 11:51 AM
buysellshortorhold buysellshortorhold Jul 20, 2015 8:25 AM Flag

I think Brad Pitt promotes free range chickens which has these problems:

    1. Many diseases such as respiratory(infectios coryza and infectious laryngotracheitis) intestinal diseases (E-Coli and liver failure), Coccidiosis are rampant in outside soil. Ok for desi fowl / free range chickens but deadly for modern domesticated chickens.

    2. Protection from foxes, rats, wolves, hawks, owls(especially the great horned owl) all of which cause havoc on chickens and leave the flock half dead and bloodied.

    3. Winter. No chicken will survive free range in Winter in the northern half of USA. Dead as a doornail.

    4. Productivity. Domestic chickens when in a free range environment produces fewer eggs and become broody for extended periods of time.

I like Brad Pitt for his superior efforts to help humanity but he has no real knowledge of the chicken.

Read the most recent edition of Worldpoultry magazine and you definitely will NOT sell any USA broiler / roaster / chicken meat stocks. Reason: Bird flu now "out of control" in producers all over Asia. Translated: Most producers cannot control the avian flu AND most Asian countries will need to import.... or do without.

  • Costs of materials down.
    Energy costs down.
Strong dollar enables high quality, lower cost component purchases.
    Demographics increasingly favor this business.

ALABAMA - Will The Circle Be Unbroken Lyrics
    Artist: ALABAMA
    Album: Songs Of Inspiration II
    Genre: Rock

Well, I was standing by my window
On one cold and cloudy day
When I saw that hearse come rolling
For to carry my mother away

Ohh, will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by?
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

    Hey, undertaker
Hey, undertaker, undertaker, please drive slow
For that body you are haulin'
Lord, I hate, I hate to see her go

Ohh, will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by?
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

I went back home, my home was lonesome
Missed my mother, she was gone
    All my brothers, sisters crying
In our home so sad and alone

    Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by?
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky.......................

Rates were MUCH higher in 1999 and 2000. Rates have less impact on VTR results this round than at that time.

  • This stock is fundamentally very inexpensive. In order to attain a PEG of 1.0 stock needs to rise 30%, to $158.94. I like this one based on low P/E and PEG ratio combination.

In order to attain the normal price:book of 1.50 on this company the stock would need to rise 30.3% to $15.50.
Agree, the dividend takes care of you while you wait.
The great thing about this stock is management's continued debt control which is inspiring for a business like this. In the eventuality of rate increases, this is exactly what you want in a REIT.
