If you are talking about Steve Liotta leaving, it is because Otis pushed him out. Many store level managers and DMs are being fired or harassed so much they quit. Many have a target on their backs not for job performance, but just because someone at the corp level feels they make to much. Many, many people are discontent as Framingham simultaneously closes stores, cuts payroll budgets and squashes raises and bonuses at the field level, yet remodels the corp. office with a fitness center and other amenities and hands Ron a huge increase. The amount of tension and distrust between Framingham and the DM's and stores is very high. The DM's are finally starting to realize that fewer stores equates to less need for DMs. Some are defending the stores, some are leaning harder than ever, some are just leaving before the #$%$ hits the fan with the OD buyout. Bottom line - Staples treats their employees as mere numbers at best and often not even that well. Otis and Vinnie Servello are major ball busting pricks who show no appreciation.
Are you referring to the parking lot "Cart Dance" commercial? Yes it is stupid. Just goes to show how out of touch they are and why they should be let go.
Do you really think those on top will take responsibility or the hit to their bonuses for this?
Any money lost from this will be recovered by laying off more drivers and DC staff.
They may have been "busy" but if they had repeat customers buying laptops and printers on a weekly basis and not buying the "protection plan" or other attachments they may not have been profitable. It sounds like that store was reclassified as "LCOM" due to lack of sales and had hours and staff reduced.
If you had said you got there right before or right at closing time and they didn't let you in I would have some sympathy. At quarter after they probably did have all the registers closed and were about to leave.
Not really worth the risk to let someone in to ring up a
Not Sargent's bonus it appears.
15 cent raises for the highest rated employees, 0 for anyone else.
Stores that actually did well (yes, there were some) are denied bonuses,
yet Ron takes his, undeservedly.
Shareholders are being asked to vote on the pay scheme on June 2 in the form of the traditional nonbinding proposal, which means that Staples may still award the monies regardless of how investors vote
Same strategy, focus on mobile phone sales in an already saturated market.
Waited for help there only to be told the only person that knew anything about iPads was busy selling a phone.
Store managers that are not meeting or beating SSS are getting raked over the coals by middle management, yet Ron and co are untouchable.
It is good leadership to ask for input from trusted advisors. However, if you feel you need to bring in all these consultants why are you still paying all your hired flunkies like Joe Doody, Christine Komola, Shira Goodman, Demos and Otis? Cut some fat, start at the top.
Anything electronic is considered "business machines" . Basically anything that plugs in , except lamps, fans/heaters, pencil sharpeners and laminators was not included in the 20% coupon.
If the manager told you to leave you must have really been acting like an #$%$.
The reason they do not have any is idots keep buying them and say they don't work ( due to user error) and return them. As far as deiliveries, it is entirely possible they do not know what is coming in until the time the truck is unloaded.
