Very true. I go long and short, depending on the general market flow - as well as company or industry-specific news. And when it comes to certain stocks - MSFT being one of the most blatant examples - it's clear that institutions and their algorithms are gaming the action. Me no happy.
I use that term in the Brit sense. And yes, MSFT is a cun* stock and its trading behavior is utterly cun*ish. It just doesn't comport itself uniformly, either on the way up or down. Have to wonder whether the big institutions - the real cun*s - are screwing around with options. But it makes it virtually impossible to predict near term directions.
No, I actually missed today's bottom. Covered at 82. But bought in at 82.05 to see whether there's a speculative bounce this afternoon. If so, great and I'll dump toward the end. If not, no prob. My profit off the short is more than enough cushion.
I'm being transparent here, dude. No need to get snarky.
I can't sell stock that I don't own. I can buy stock that I short. I shorted UNP when I made my call to arms. It's been a profitable trade so far. The stock is down a few bucks since. We'll see how long I hold on before covering.
