Morningstar - aren't these the same guys who were telling everybody back before the 2008 crisis that bundled mortgage notes were rated 5 stars and that there was nothing to worry about? Just askin'
Put away your charts and tech savvy. This stock has a mind of its own and will move up dramatically someday irrespective of anything found in its daily machinations.
JR is a graduate from the Obama School of Economics & Debate . Lacking brilliance, baffle them with your b.s. In his demented mind, it works every time.
In overall market terms, it makes sense to lighten up. As far as GILD is concerned, the market moves have had little to no effect on it. It's doing its own thing and nothing seems to be able to change its trajectory.
The excuse du jour seems to rest on an unconfirmed rumor that Icahn is quietly shorting GILD and accumulating vast quantities of it with the ultimate intention of becoming a major investor and pushing GILD and JNJ into a merger thus creating this powerhouse of pharma. Sounds intriguing and almost believable. Once again, longs will be hanging on to "hope" since nothing else seems to be working. I'll continue to be a baggie until something breaks this curse and GILD is finally recognized as a truly great buying opportunity, hope or not.
(10 mos. down to 6 mos.) and the companies are free to sell them on the open market. I find this whole process a farce. The FDA could find a way to faster track ALL applications thus ending this practice but instead has decided to use these permits. Allowing the companies to bid on them doubles the offense by allowing the highest bidder to prevail. Have we completely lost sight of the fact that the govt. works for us and that we should expect it be a level playing field for all? I equate this practice to high speed trading computers that give a firm just enough of an edge to grind out billions of dollars each year while you and I the retail investors can only watch and wonder.
Don't know what potential blockbuster they have but THEY KNOW and they've paid 125 million for the privilege so that makes it very interesting indeed. In the short term (next few months) it probably won't have any impact unless it leaks out what the drug is and its potential.
Just read it and unable to determine what, if any, benefit GILD sees in the deal but they must have an ace up their sleeve or they wouldn't have forked over the big bucks.
Looks like a Mexican standoff. Can't seem to move forward or back without any real conviction. Just putzing along in the 1.40 to 1.43 range. Nobody's making any real money.
A shoe manufacturer had a big seller that had a weird but very popular design and it sold millions. I think it was Hush Puppies. Anyway, you see a group of Japanese businessmen examining that shoe very closely and one in the group says" "We can make it cheaper but we cannot make it dumber!" My point resembles the commercial's point - popularity trumps price every time especially when you've got the very best product hands down.

There was great buying about 5 minutes before close but then with about 2 minutes left, the selling picked up and sucked all the oxygen out of the room.
Basic common sense tells us you and your defective software are wrong. Why you can't see it bewilders me. We're just 12 cents higher than the 52 wk low mark of 1.32 and that's with the 3 cents move up today yet you insist it's overbought?
