Obama dines with tech stars of Silicon Valley

    PRESIDENTIAL VISIT

    By Carla Marinucci

    Published 4:00 am, Friday, February 18, 2011

President Obama - on his first official trip to the Bay Area that didn't involve political fundraising - held a dinner meeting Thursday to talk job creation and education with a star-studded team of Silicon Valley executives and leaders, many of them past generous contributors to Democratic causes.

Crowds lined the streets in tiny downtown Woodside, waving and cheering encouragement as the president's motorcade passed through on its way to the secluded estate of star Silicon Valley venture capitalist John Doerr and his wife, Ann, who have both been ranked among the country's most deep-pocketed political donors.

Romney and G.O.P. Make Inroads in Silicon Valley

    By SOMINI SENGUPTA

    Published: October 7, 2012

By the end of August, Mr. Romney raised $2.04 million, compared with the $1.7 million that John McCain raised over his entire 2008 campaign. He has also tapped the pocketbooks of a few former Obama donors. One is Marc Andreessen, a prominent venture capitalist and Facebook investor who supported Mr. Romney’s failed primary bid in 2007, but went on to back Mr. Obama in 2008 with a $4,600 contribution. This year, he put in more than $100,000 for Mr. Romney.

WOW: Yahoo removing what is the EVIDENCE in "Intelligence" communities using Yahoo and Google to steal from small companies like On2 shareholders and run undertunnel and CRMINLA operations. WOW.
    casp321@yahoo

The followings are WHY I think FBI/DOJ should INVESTIGATE John Doerr, representing "Intelligence" communities from Democrat side and Andreessen, representing "Intelligence" communities from Republican side. There are those called "Financial experts" and those others "Technical experts." These two are BOTH Financial and Technical experts running "intelligence" communities UNDERTUNNEL and CRIMINAL operation, in On2/Hantro/Flixcloud case, while providing technical and financial assitance to those "intelligence" communities agents lacking enough intelligence to be left alone to handle the undertunnel and criminal operations.

There was a logo on front page of On2 Inc. official web site, prior to 2009, that a dolphin CARRYING an ELEPHANT on its back. I presume that MENT On2 was carrying Republican related company, possibly Microsoft. But at somepoit, the "intelligence" communities leaders changed their mind and let Google take On2/Hantro/Flixcloud and MS take Skype, which was using On2's Truemotion video codecs for a LONG time for FREE.

Russian researchers expose breakthrough U.S. spying program
    Feb 16, 2015
    By Joseph Menn
According to former intelligence operatives, the NSA has multiple ways of obtaining source code from tech companies, including asking directly and posing as a software developer. If a company wants to sell products to the Pentagon or another sensitive U.S. agency, the government can request a security audit to make sure the source code is safe.

    Those to Mecca on pilgrimage
    When reached their destined stage
Saw a home made out of stone
    Amidst the desert carnage.
In that house they sought God
    Yet empty they found that cage;
    Discharged their dutiful prayers
From the stone heard a message:
"O idol-worshipers, why praise mud and stone
Worship only the house that is praised by the sage.
That House of God is the abode of the heart
    Blessed are those whom to the heart made their pledge;
They walked their path upright and straight
Unlike wheel of fortune’s hunched revolving age.
Those who landed in the state of singular intelligence
No longer placed the other on a separate page
The group who only saw the stony house
Like a satanic cult, God disparage.
Whoever found a glimpse of that House in this
Not even in the heavens would seek tutelage
Wearing pilgrims’ garb, going around this house
Leave body, head, heart, and soul to pay homage.
The tribe that found God only in a friend,
They are the keys to that House, upon the ledge.
Hope and compassion reside in the Real House
Those who turned to love, found their wage.
In spite of obstacles, they are in the house of love,
Who amidst both worlds, their bets on beloved hedge.
Even the archangels are in awe
    Of resurrection after such rampage
Blessed are those who like Shams-e Tabriz
Remained within, far from desert’s rage.

Russian researchers expose breakthrough U.S. spying program
    Feb 16, 2015
    By Joseph Menn

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The U.S. National Security Agency has figured out how to hide spying software deep within hard drives made by Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba and other top manufacturers, giving the agency the means to eavesdrop on the majority of the world's computers, according to cyber researchers and former operatives.

That long-sought and closely guarded ability was part of a cluster of spying programs discovered by Kaspersky Lab, the Moscow-based security software maker that has exposed a series of Western cyberespionage operations.

Kaspersky said it found personal computers in 30 countries infected with one or more of the spying programs, with the most infections seen in Iran, followed by Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Mali, Syria, Yemen and Algeria. The targets included government and military institutions, telecommunication companies, banks, energy companies, nuclear researchers, media, and Islamic activists, Kaspersky said.

    TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH

According to Kaspersky, the spies made a technological breakthrough by figuring out how to lodge malicious software in the obscure code called firmware that launches every time a computer is turned on.

    The Guest House

    by Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi

This being human is a guest house.
    Every morning a new arrival.
    A joy, a depression, a meanness,
    some momentary awareness comes
    As an unexpected visitor.
    Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
    who violently sweep your house
    empty of its furniture,
    still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
    for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
    and invite them in.
    Be grateful for whoever comes,
    because each has been sent
    as a guide from beyond.

WHY did the SCREW up Bill Joll and HOW did he end up with mishandling On2's financial reports in 2007?

It was funny that the reporter who was interviewing Bill/Joll or Bill Jill, ex-CEO of On2 with multi-language and multi-citizenship, was nervous, assuming Bill J. one of "secretive" member of "intelligence" of Homeland Security I would presume. But why "Intelligence" communities did NOT want B.J. as On2 CEO while On2 and Google "negotiating" the "merger" deal at the given time that BJ was long gone and MF holding ON2's helm as interim for more than 18 months.

The Department of Homeland Security is a total disaster. It's time to abolish it.

Updated by Dara Lind on February 17, 2015
If Congress doesn't act before February 27, the Department of Homeland Security is going to run out of money and go into a partial shutdown. (Eighty-five percent of employees would still be working, but they wouldn't be getting paid.) Congress doesn't appear to have a plan for action; as of last week, before it broke for recess, House and Senate lawmakers were each telling each other to do something. Meanwhile, politicians in both parties have already skipped to the step where they blame the other party for the possible shutdown — making them seem pretty resigned to it happening. House Speaker John Boehner said on Sunday he's "certainly" ready for a DHS shutdown.

It helps that both parties think they can win on the politics of a shutdown. Democrats see this as a replay of the government shutdown of 2013, when congressional Republicans tried to undo a major Obama administration policy (then Obamacare; now the president's executive actions on immigration) as a condition of keeping the government open. Republicans, for their part, appear to believe that because the Senate's Democratic minority is filibustering their funding bill, Democrats will take the blame — though there's little indication that they would become willing to roll back all of Obama's executive actions to end a shutdown. It's also not clear if Republicans could get a critical mass of support within their own party for anything less.

(Bloomberg) -- The top executives of Google Inc., Yahoo! Inc. and Facebook Inc. won’t attend President Barack Obama’s cybersecurity summit on Friday, at a time when relations between the White House and Silicon Valley have frayed over privacy issues.

Facebook Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, and Google’s Larry Page and Eric Schmidt were all invited but won’t attend the public conference at Stanford University, according to the companies.

Yahoo, Facebook, Google and Microsoft Corp. said they decided to send their top information security executives to the summit instead.

As you likely know by now, after attending a fundraiser in Atherton on October 21 for Kamala Harris, President Obama went to dinner at the home of Marissa Mayer and Zachary Bogue. The event (overseen by event planner Robert Fountain, with catering by Taste’s Margaret Teskey), was attended by local friends and supporters such as Marc Benioff and Pamela Joyner.

We decided to take this as an opportunity to look back at the chain of events that led to this special evening. So we begin our latest “SFLashback” in the year 1992, when the Internet was largely a fantasy, Marissa Mayer an ambitious teenager, and Barack Obama a young man just beginning his path to the Presidency.

Why two Financial Firms evaluating On2/Hantro regarding On2 and Google "merger" did NOT consider Hantro's value-- where Hantro had more than 50 deals with semiconductor companies as was reported by December 2009.
Why did On2's lead-plaintiff with 100, or so, ONT/ON2 shares file lawsuit two/three days after On2 and Google announced FRAUDULENT "merger" on August 5, 2009? How could a law firm represent someone with 100 share vs 178 million shares of other shareholders?

from "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman

"We were forecasting based on the information in front of us... But the main problem was that we failed to allow for what Donald Rumsfeld famously called the 'unknown unknowns.' There was no way for us to foresee, that day, the succession of events that would cause the project to drag out for so long." page 248

"[O]verly optimistic forecast of the outcome of projects are found everywhere. [We] coined the term PLANNING FALLACY [capitalized by casp321] to describe plans and forcasts that
-- are unrealistically close to best-case scenarios
-- could be improved by consulting the statistics of similar cases." page 250

    "Mitigating the planning fallacy
...The renowned Danish planning expert Ben Flyvbjerg... offered a forceful summary:
'The prevalent tendency to underweight or ignore distributional information is perhaps the major source of error in forecasting. Planners should therefore make every effort to frame the forecasting problem so as to facilitate utilizing all the distributional information that is available.'

"This may be considered the single most important piece of advice regarding how to increase accuracy in forecasting through improved methods. Using distributional information from other ventures similar to that being forecasted is called taking an "outside view" and is the cure to the planning fallacy." page 251

"Organizations face the challenge of controlling the tendency of executives competing for resources to present overly optimistic plans. A well-run organization will reward planners for precise execution and penalize them for failing to anticipate difficulties that they could not have anticipated-the unknown unknowns." page 252

When forecasting the outcomes of risky projects, executives too easily fall victim to the planning fallacy. In its grip, they make decision based on dellusional optimism rather than on a rational weighting of gains, losses and probabilities. They overestimatebenefits and underestimate costs. They spin scenarios of success while overlooking the potential for mistakes and miscalculations. As a result, they pursue initiatives that are unlikely ...to deliver the expected returns-or even be completed." page 252

BALTIMORE—Edwin “Ed” Hale Sr., a retired bank executive known locally for his sharp-elbowed approach to business, installed video surveillance on his 186-acre farm and still sleeps with a sawed-off shotgun by his bed.

His friends, former employees and even his own daughters were shocked to learn in his recently published biography that he had ample reason to do so: The former chief executive and chairman of Bank of Baltimore says he worked covertly for the Central Intelligence Agency for almost a decade in the 1990s and early 2000s.

During that time, he said, he spoke regularly with a CIA handler and allowed the agency to create a fake company under his corporate umbrella, which included shipping and trucking companies he ran at the same time he led the bank. Operatives in the field used the fictitious firm as cover when traveling the world, complete with business cards and hats. Your are using casp321@yahoo, as On2 shareholder, as an excuse to call those On2 shareholders objecting the fraudulent On2 and Google "meger" "settlement" by On2 lead-plaintiff, holding 100 or so On2 share without DOJ/FBI INVESTIGATING of HOW the Firm representing him could afford to represent his case, "terrorists" while Google and those from "intelligence" coomunities bringging in an NSA EXPERT to "defend" a "settled" On2 vs Google case led by an On2 shareholder holding 100 or so On2 share? Here is a story I've found to remind you that you can NOT use scare tactic under the name of "national-security" and "trade-secret" BUuuLSfHIT to justify your STEAL by using On2/Hantro products to pay those agents' undertunnel and criminal activities while using On2 as a FRONT to penetrate international markets like Chinese, Iranian, .....

    "The LAND"
    by Mildred D. Taylor

We were within two weeks of seeing all our hard work pay off when Flimore Granger came to see me. I figured he had brought the papers to the forty [acres]."
    I found out differently.
"Paul," Filmore Granger said when he had dismounted, "I hear you trying to buy land J. T. Hollenbeck's selling."
I wasn't sure where this was leading. "We have a contract," I replied cautiously.
"J. T. Hollenbeck bought that land from my daddy, land my daddy had to sell for taxes after the [civil] war. Now you're trying to buy it?"
I didn't say anything. I just waited for him to get on with what was on his mind.
He looked around. "You've got yourself a lot of land cleared here. Sizeable amount of cotton planted."
"As we agreed," I said... and "Any land I cleared, I could plant."
Filmore Granger ignored my words, looked back at me, and went on. "Heard you planning to sell these forty acres of mine to help pay for that land Hollenbeck's selling. That right?"
Now, I didn't figure that was any of Filmore Granger's business, what I was doing with land that was now rightfully mine, but I couldn't say that to him outright. I knew I had to watch my words. "Well, you know, Mister Granger, our agreement was that after I'd cut all trees for you, the land become mine. That means I can sell it, if I choose."
"Ah, naw. Not as you choose!" he thundered, the soft words now gone. "This here is not your land yet! Now, I told you the first day you come riding up here that I wasn't going to stand for any pilfering of my trees, but I see you been helping yourself to them anyway! You've been helping yourself to plenty of my good trees not on this fort acres!"
I stared at Filmore Granger, ... "Mister Granger," I said, meeting his eyes, "Iwas very careful about the tree line we marked. All the cutting was done on the forty. We never stepped a foot off it."
Filmore Granger's temper grew even more fiery. "You calling me a liar?"
"I'm not calling you anything," I said, knowing my words were too loose in talking to a white man, but my temper was up too. "I'm just telling you we never cut off the forty... We never chopped outside the forty."
Filmore Granger stared at me. I stared him back. "Maybe it was all a mistake," he said in a voice that mocked at me. "Maybe y'all done somecutting by mistake."
"We never set foot off the forty."
He glared angrily at me, then turned and walked back to his horse. He didn't mount but faced me again. I've decided to keep this land here."
    "What--"
"You want land so bad from J. T. Hollenbeck, you go chopping trees don't belong to you to pay for it! Well, you don't go chopping down my trees trying to sell them--"
    "I never did--"
"Now, you can stay on and sharecrop, if you want. I'm being as fair as I can with you, considering what you gone and done. You don't want to sharecrop, then I want you and yours gone from here before month's out."
"That's not what we agreed!... [We] cut those trees for you, everyone you said, and had them ready on time--"
    "Cut yourselves some tree too--"
    Only what you told us--"
    "You disputing with me?"
Those were dangerous words, mighty dangerous words, and I knew it. I let the silence settle and tried to catch hold of my temper again. Finally, in a steady voice, I said, "We have a paper."
Filmore Granger stepped back to me and faced me close. "You think I care about a paper signed with a [black]? Well, let me tell you something, boy. there was a time I owned hundreds of you people. I clothed you, fed you, tended you when you were sick, and burried you. Then everything got changed all round, and here [blacks] got to thinking they're good as white people, can talk the same as white people, live the same as white people, have the same kind of land. Ones like you think they as smart as white people too. Well, I'm here to tell you there hasn't been a [black] born can outsmart Filmore Granger. Not a one, no matter how white he looks." He pointed his finger in my face for emphasis, then turned and started for his horse. Once he was mounted, he looked down at me. "That crop in the ground, it's mine too. You try and harvest any of it without staying on, I'll have the sheriff after you. Same goes for any you already picked. I know you've sold one bale, but you try selling any more, you'll find yourself in jail." Then Filmore Granger spurred his horse and rode away, down the road I had cleared.
I figured Filmore Granger had played me for the fool. I knew he hadn't just now heard about my intention to but J. T. Hollenbeck's land. Too many people knew about it for him not to have heard before. He'd heard about it, all right, a good while back no doubt, but he'd kept his silence to keep his timber coming. He had kept his silence until now so he could take back his land, with all the timber he wanted cut, an a lie spread so I could buy no more land, land that once was his. pages 341-345
