"My point is I look at the numbers. I have no idea as to whether FTR is cheating on maintenance.."
Yes I give you credit, just question where you come from? I've been here a long time too and when you say things like "we" and "us," I know a shill when I see it.cd
This is still be played by shorts... Up some pennies, down some pennies. #5 on the short interest list. Until that changes, anything said here is a moot point IMO. Although I will add I do believe strongly that sales people are under pressure right now. The layoff thing that just happened was just tip of the ice burg unless she bats it out the park [so to speak.] IMO of course. Hang in there SWP!. cd
SF, you have a couple of good points, however how do know so much about the company? As a retired CPA talking about buildings and capital depreciation, you must know something about telecom. We all know about capex spending although depreciation wasn't something on my mind until you brought it up. The telecom switches are overdue for replacement. Hard getting cards for replacement for example. The Siemens multiplexers, some over 40 years old however they keep ticking along. I basically worked in field operations, day to day maintenance. True on your statement about upgrades. Capex is largely in part, if not wholly in part about infrastructure relating to broadband and the backbone network. In the mean time, there is a plant sitting out there with deteriorating qualities. One must think, at some stage Frontier must consider VOIP or some alternative to replacing the land line part as well. However I get your opinion about buildings and obsolete plant write offs for the company. Far as High Speed Internet, yes there is Comcast. I have been using the 3meg plan with Frontier since merger with VZ and it is working well. My question to you is with the last two quarters growing internet subs, do you believe we have to wait until late 2014 for a turnaround?cd
We responded at the same time. Yes I remember. I responded to you in the other thread. I am still holding long term telecom. Looking at buying more with some dry powder on the sidelines.... Waiting it out to see what will happen with CR, Gov't shutdown and debt ceiling right now though.
"FTR did not react positively to the conference call."
Don't you mean Wallst?
" I see it getting close to play for me, then again their have been much better plays..."
What do you see as a good entry point?
I already beat you to the talking points or not. Hearing from folks...Yeah, "Same old same old, nothing new."
The SCALE will be to give us a good earnings Q3 SAGE............cd
BS - Team Building.. Stuck the heck up. You Union folks already made up your opinion... How do you like ACA? Does it work? Obamacare the ACA act..As far as me, you don't care about me, so I don't care about you. So lets not go down the road living in Orleans and working in WVA? You keep posting but it doesn't mean anything. BS ALERT - what you say, means nothing. SO -- YOU don't see this as a team building experience. Aren't you UNI*ON? -- cd
Hey red balls,
Please don't count out Frontier Communications yet! The future is broadband and mine is working just fine [through Frontier.] So when she makes comments on the CC far as concentrating on the backbone network and the fact they are still spending capex, that should mean something. Speaking of dreaming, I got another 1500 bucks this quarter in dividends. I am still long on the stock and will be as long as they are paying dividends. -- Please stick to your numbers posts for quarterly earnings going forward, then we'll see.imo.cd
Some of them went to Fort Wayne I heard, as per the article. Interesting on the CC it looks like Frontier is picking up some of the support calls for Intuit [is that Turbotax?], or is it Frontier Secure, which I heard they are also trying to market out of territory....May be two different points, interesting nevertheless. It sounds like Maggie is doing her job and trying to keep things going for the stakeholders. I say buy.
Still on track for Q3 Earnings
Realized in Q1 Q2 on track;
Dividend safe for shareholders
New Deal realized with Intuit
More coming down the pike.
Using "Alternate Channels"
Looking close at competition pricing
Compete with TWC/Comcast in markets.
Appears they are still on track from what I got out of it. ??
swp... Look at BBRY. What do you mean you have held this dog too long. It's still yielding 9%. I always warned, with telecom stocks this is the way to do it. Why not wait for the quarterly announcement? Mr_D is here for the entertainment too. I also should ask him about Alicia Keys with Blackberry, but he wouldn't know anything about that or does he? D, you realize Alicia was the spokesperson for BB. Does that make him sad or glad. Who knows... Stay long, stay strong telecom imo.cd:)
Oh boy.... Here we go. SA actually posting something positive?!?. Undervalued and all. Too many bbry posts to scroll through them all but one or more struck me as valid. The possibility of some kind of IBM / BBRY for enterprise. I could be all wet here however I would welcome that kind of announcement just to get Mr_d thinking. Remember folks, IBM does service the ss7 network for Frontier.... Last time I checked it is also the ICSP and other networks.. Also what sage said.:)
I saw this on the BBRY board tonight... Still funny. Man those phones still lock up, I had 1st and third gen and got into trouble a few times for not answering, due to lockups... Wish they would fix their product and not focus so much on advertising until stable. I know we used them here in corporate until we went w/iPhone.
My Wife Is Going To Kill Me: from the BBRY board tonight, investment
Entire savings and 401 k spent at $11.78 on this POS.
What do I do now?
1) Kill yourself 1st and beat her to the punch.
2) Buy Nokia and recoup your loses by Q1 2014.
3) Make it into a NFLX Series - LOL. Hold it for the trade. It will be back. GL
4) I am ready to buy her for slavery
5) Liquidate everything you own and buy stock in Pandora ....ITunes radio will fail and make this the next great investment.
6) Sell the wife, hold the stock to see how this all plays out.
7) Let her go ahead and try! "Stand your ground"...and pocket the insurance money.
8) stand up to your wife & wear the pants
9) Soon it will be X wife. Call DC and hope you can get on free money list. If you are luck they will even throw in that new free insurance
10) You can't buy stocks in a 401K LIAR. But I would sell ASAP and put it all into AMD. :)
11) tell her you spent it on a present for her, she will feel guilty and invite you to spend a night with her and her lover
12) you are in some deep trouble. I'd start drinking.
Probably one of the best posts I have seen here. In corporate, we use Blackberry here in the USA but I have to admit their previous phones have had problems.. For example, it would lock up for no reason and I had to do constant reboots. It wouldn't happen all the time but it did occur more frequent than not... Some times taking the battery out and putting it back in fixed it for a while. Boss complained b/c I wasn't getting my calls [on call 24/7 for Verizon as a manager.] So yes, your point advertising is one good thing but give me a solid phone that works 24/7 would be a plus. We went with iphone a couple years back with another company b/c of the headaches. Sorry for all the losses here if you are long the stock. I do hope they have a re-bound b/c I liked the bb phone.
