100 percent agree with your statement(s) back to Kevin. What I would like to say to folks like kevin is you live and learn when it comes to buying in this market. Never, ever get married to a stock... That's why I did a stop loss order at $8.05 and the other day it triggered. I took somewhat of a risky investment here but I knew what I was getting into. The innovative product here is great but it's not worth the risk of losing my 35,000 dollars I invested. So sorry if people don't think that way, however you get burned a couple times and you play WAKE up call, real fast. Thx CD

    David says:

"Ask yourselves this question: Why wouldn't FTR do this?"

She made a lot of boo boos in the past, why would this be any different. Baby steps, as I recall some GM saying. We do it in baby steps. OKAAAAAAAAAY. There's your answer

The issue you bring up may be valid, but what happens IF "the rest of the market" crashes.
Comparison of telecom companies is something most of us in the telecom industry generally evaluate. Take a look at this (I hope he doesn't mind I did this) - Sorry it doesn't include T which I wish it did however you are in a good spot if you are re-investing and collecting dividends.
    From 7/1/2010 until 8/6/2014 - Past 4 Years

@timwallace_19 You never did answer my question however I answered yours

"as far as the balance sheet where do you see "growth" and not losses over the past five quarters? Excluding Broadband"

-- Anyone can pull up a stock chart. Do you read the 10k's at all? You are semi-right in stating over the past two years but not totally accurate. If you look in 2013 (last year) it tested the 50 day MA several times and dropped below that point.

-- I think the board police got gy-psy. I saw that earlier and never replied. Anyway good luck. Frik.

"Has FTR's PPS gone up over the past two years, yes or no?"

One year, yes... Last five years, it's been up and down like a rocket. More down than UP. Hey I think you are an interesting individual with suspected multiple nicks tho. To each his own.. I just don't appreciate you trying to bash me since your thread was targeted. That's my point. As far as playing you tube videos, it was around the time FTR was pushing their higher speed product and the fact I was bored... I won't play any more of them if it hurts you. I am glad you don't kick dogs or jay-walk. Gee, that's good to know. Now, back to stocks......Later CD

Hey BEE -- If you Re-do it, like he/she says, please throw in FRP (for #$%$ and giggles) I'd be curious since they have no dividend -Fair point Communications.)

  • cd_iso cd_iso Aug 6, 2014 2:15 PM Flag

I know, I kick myself every day. Well it was a fun ride.
Off topic, Has anyone here given any thought yet to what a REIT at FTR would look like? Specifically the stock dividend between the two companies. The way I have it figured, tell me if I am right or wrong, assuming the dividend stays the same and is not done away with altogether.

    ---As a SPINCO---

FTR Dividend would be .04 cents per year, or .01 cent per quarter payable.
REIT (Let's call it FTRR) Dividend would be .36 cents per year, or .09 cents per quarter payable.

That assumes spin off of assets and growth from the new REIT. Would this even benefit shareholders? Something to think about. Thoughts?

So please Mr. Tim, tell us how great the price gain is when a lot of us had to average down to even meet a break even point. Just because you were given 600 free shares [strange David said the same exact thing here too] gives you the gumption to bash all the rest of us? Tell us, Mr. Tim as far as the balance sheet where you see "growth" and not losses over the past five quarters? Excluding Broadband.

    Fred & Ol' Butch

Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young 'pullets,' and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs. He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.

This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters.

Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing.

Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.

Fred's favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all!

When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.

To Fred's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring.

He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.

Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the Brisbane City Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pullet Surprise" as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention.

Vote carefully in the next election, you can’t always hear the bells.

Never thought I would say this being a former bag holder and all, however you are spot on.... Just give her a couple more quarters and she will start producing revenue "growth," right? That was said yesterday in response to the guy from MS. He was quizzing her about mud slides and storms towards the end of the cc. It's always an excuse with these people. I think after 4 years of holding, no revenue growth, dividend cut twice, going on a national TV show and embarrassing us, I can understand why the street dislikes it... Being #2 on the 'biggest short interest tables' doesn't do them any favors. As you know there's a long history here with this stock since July 2010. Folks that don't know should do some real hard DD. I still monitor it and would be happy to get back in, but lack of growth and general past mess ups I can only tolerate for so long. My piece.

I sold my remaining shares of 303 @ around $7. I say around because those were shares I had left with Computer Share Trust Company and I couldn't get an accurate sell price but was told the sell order would be processed yesterday. It sounds like you made a great trade yesterday too. gl

Doesn't frank the consultant buffalo have to have meetings before anything would happen here? Meanwhile over on the WIN camp, it appears they have already come up with a genius plan to cut the dividend, cut their taxes, repay some debt, etc.... It sure took everyone by surprise, even Cramer. I wonder if MW even knew about it? Far as outside plant, Swap and Run.. If Gardner has his way, well:::: Below

    From Street insider:

"No assurances can be given that such conditions will be satisfied or as to the timing of any regulatory action. Windstream may, at any time and for any reason until the proposed transaction is complete, abandon the spinoff or modify or change the terms of the spinoff.

Windstream anticipates that the spinoff would occur in the first quarter of 2015."
