Oedd,
Not to minimize the atrocities in these countries we are seeing the lack of respect for human life right here in our own country. This uncovering of the IRS scandal should have people plenty worried. They will eventually be overseeing the healthcare system and deciding on what type of medical treatment people get. If this isn't downright scary I don't know what is. I recall those statements re: death panels a few years back where everyone laughed at that idea, you know what it is coming to that.
By the way, you speak about lack of respect for human life? How about this Benghazi story? It is sad how 4 people can be killed and some in Washington wish to just cover it up for their own political ambitions. This is a black mark on Clinton who has her eye on 2016 and this could potentially be her downfall, which is why she wants nothing more than to just see it go away. Bottom line, people are dead, there MUST be accountability. In this country ALL life is precious, period!
Yes Max, I take Levin at his word when he said his plan is well ahead of schedule. If he can really start to show results the stock will respond favorably, I have no doubt. This stock has just been stuck in a quagmire now for such a long time, while other companies have prospered handsomely.
Good Morning Max,
Information such as this is promising, but in the end its only results which matter. Please understand I don't want to sound cynical, but many products which reach Phase 3 development never see the light of day. Also, I recall last year we were supposed to have 30 new products come to market by the end of 2012, I don't believe we even had half of that. This was information which was stated by the CFO of Teva. Now, what I did find promising at this last earnings report was it appears as though Levin has stopped the bleeding, which I believe is very important at this stage. If they would've missed on earnings, revenue, or if he had to lower guidance again for 2013 Levin's credibility would have suffered. It appears at least for the moment he has stabilized the company. But, make no mistake about it investors want to see growth, cost cutting measures are not going to interest investors.
Thats all well and good, but where is the growth? Until we see that we will see no appreciation in stock price.
Harlan,
I feel very blessed to live in the greatest country in the world. Unfortunately, we live in a very open and free society and with that always comes the risk that some nutjob will do something like what just happened in Boston. There is no doubt in my mind that something will eventually happen in New York. It is the premier target for all these fanatics and they've already tried (unsuccessfully) to blow up Times Square, but I do believe something will eventually happen, it is the downside of an open and free society. Just continue to live your life and raise your family. There are things which are in your control and things which aren't, unfortunately this is a situation which isn't.
What bothers me is at the moment no Muslim leadership has come out and condemned or held a rally against those creeps who set off the bombs in Boston. This along with the Fort Hill base shootings would provide such a defining moment for Islamic people to stand up with America, unite and say they are completely against this type of behavior. I for one find the silence deafening and wrong. It is a sad day indeed when people cannot attend a marathon, go to work, or simply live their lives without having to worry about whether or not they will be back home to be with their loved ones.
In my opinion the stock is rallying due to earnings stabilization. The numbers came in yesterday right in line with what Wall Street was expecting. I for one was actually pleasantly surprised because I thought they were going to miss. There was no news really during the quarter to suggest they would have a good earnings report, but it appears as though at least for the moment that Levin has stopped the bleeding. He also indicated during the conference call that his plan is ahead of schedule and really coming together. Perhaps, and I am only saying perhaps we will start to see some positive results from his plan soon. In any event I liked what I heard, but I have to start seeing results also from his plan.
Good Morning Trick,
All you can do is raise your family and instill in them the values you hold in your heart. I could care less what society nowadays dictates, or what their beliefs are. Remember, their batting average is pretty bad. I will do what I and I alone think is best for my family. I do not tell others how to live and I certainly do not want anyone telling me or mine. I will take care of my family and keep my core beliefs. I am fifty years old and it has worked out well for me thus far, so I will continue.
Society wonders why children of today are angry and turning to violence. They say video games, easy access to guns and not enough money being spent on education are to blame. They don't get it! It is a breakdown in the family value system. Children being born out of wedlock, teaching children about sex and homosexuality before they are old enough to handle it, legalizing pot now in some states. Now throw in making the morning after pill available over the counter to 15 year olds. Society can keep their rules, I have my own thank you very much.
Why do you think earnings will be good tomorrow, what has happened up to this point which would make you think we will get anything positive? PFE & Merck have come out guiding lower and in all probability so will Teva. The only news Levin has offered is a cost cutting plan and even that has been short on detail.
Good Afternoon Max,
I don't know how much of a position you are holding in Teva, but perhaps you may want to seriously consider dumping a portion and just keeping a small position. I know I made the right choice last year when I decided it was time to dump the majority of my holdings. I still kept a small position more as a curio. My decision now on whether to hold or dump will depend upon earnings this week. I know Levin took the helm a year ago, but for me I have to see and hear more than just cost cutting measures and managerial changes in departments. There is an abundance of other companies which not only offer better yields, but much better growth as well, good luck!
Good Morning Max,
I was a huge defender of Teva for 2 years, because I believed the company had a plan at the time to combat the revenue loss on Copaxone. My feeling at this point is it probably was Laquinimod which they were counting on to be the next blockbuster. Once they had a setback on this there was nothing to fall back on.
The bottom line Max is Teva finds itself far behind the other big pharma companies at this point. They have brought Levin in to hopefully put the ship back on course. Although Levin has great credentials he is not superman. He has an incredibly tough job ahead of him. After watching this company now for over 2 years without any major positive news on anything it is no wonder we are sitting at the levels we are at. Good Luck!
One other key point Max. No definitive plan for a drug launch to recapture losses of Copaxone competition. Yes, they've offered the idea of cost cutting measures to somewhat offset the loss, but investors are interested in drug launches, period.
Good Morning Trick,
Personally, I would wait for a pullback on this market. It is definitely shaping up to be a good one in my opinion. Earnings have not been great and look for profits to come down in the coming quarter. This summer
could be very interesting. It is always a good idea to have some cash handy, good luck man.
Good to see you back Aurum. Clap, I hoipe you are feeling much better. Unfortunately Teva is getting a bounce because it was oversold. There is still no news to drive it higher, other than the shorts having their fun once again. The stock remains dead money until further notice.
The day I take advice from you the sky will indeed be falling. Too bad folks can't give their opinions or analysis without a jerkoff like you popping off. Why don't you wait for someone to ask for toilet paper, then roll out.
People have been saying it is cheap now for years and to buy. Because it is cheap doesn't make it a buy. Remember your history, "don't try to catch a falling knife".
The stock is now under $38/share and shows absolutely no sign of stabilizing. To me it is saying the market is getting ready for a possible earnings miss and may even be preparing for another revision downward.
Unfortunately Trick Teva is dying the death by 1000 cuts.
Just remember there are many great people in the other pharma companies too. Which is why they have all seen their companies appreciate in value.
The stock hit over $60/share just a couple of years ago. Teva has not had a stock split in 8 or 9 years, what are you talking about? Most of the financial institutions and heavy hitters have left, hence the stock price. I tell you the truth I would not be surprised to see them lower earnings again this year. Hope I am wrong, but with competition starting to eat into Copaxone and no new drug launches of Teva this could definitely be the case.
And about 40% off of its all time high.
