BABA has a lot more potential than AMZN because the internet in the U.S. was already a booming market place by the time AMZN went public. However, BABA helped create the internet boom in China and is in on the ground floor. They already have the business contacts in China and in the U.S. (through YHOO). In a short-period of time BIDU and BABA will be the kingpins of the internet in China. BABA is comparable if not better than AMZN as an investment
Perhaps at this time Jeff Bezos is a better CEO than Jack Ma at BABA. They are different types of leaders. But I certainly believe that Jack Ma (richest man in Asia) is capable enough and smart enough to dominate the China internet market.
I would say that BABA is a better investment.
Pretty much agree...look at what has happened to AAPL in China. It's a pretty new market for them but they have one bad quarter in China and it may sink them for this year.
You pretty much are on the YHOO Board, after the sale of YHOO core, it looks YHOO and BABA will continue doing business together through a company located in Hong Kong.
Aabaco Holdings Inc. is possibly MM's attempt to hold onto her job. Also, rumors are that that YHOO is asking for cash for YHOO core. Why the heck would they need cash, when they already have over 7B cash on hand?
We all know there's little correlation between the performance of AAPL and BABA, however, next to a clear correlation between BABA and YHOO there isn't another stock which is as predictive as AAPL. What the heck does AAPL price have to do with BABA. It can't be simply Alipay, it has to be more than that, so what's going on?
We went over 78 during AH so things are looking up. Something unusual about the way BABA trades. We seem to get a lot of AH action. I assume it's because of the time difference between here and China. However, I'm not sure. Is there a better explanation?
Are there enough votes to get rid of MM? She's a surviror, MM will either continue being CEO or get a large termination package.
Here's an interesting question. What will YHOO do with the 6-8 Billion? Without the core there's going to be little to do on an everyday basis. MM and BOD are going to be replaced. What will the new BOD do? Their main job will be to count the money.
People took off for the weekend. Also, don't get your hopes up for Monday. So far, the bids came within the expected range. Also, no matter what the bids are there's still round 2 to come. Now if one of the bids are unusually high and GE says there's no 2nd round, that would be another story and we would see a pop.
That sounds interesting...also it means that after the sale, it's likely that YHOO will continue to do business. Their cash hoard of 8 billion will be handy.
Makes sense...so what will MM and BOD do with the 7B in cash? They are looking at pretty cushy "golden parachutes." No wonder they like the idea selling YHOO.
MM doesn't even want to talk anymore about first round bids. Second round hasn't started so there's no deadline yet.
It's 9:00 am, Shorts you still have a half hour to cover...don't worry, you can always cover at a higher price after the open.
Well if Verizon paid over $4B for AOL, then they may pay over $10B for YHOO core.
