I am 2000 dollars in the green. Really, try to get back 20 points or 80% rise on this stock will be in your fantasy. I will be shorting this puppy long term.

    YELP is Censoring

    Conclusion:
    1. Yelp is the board for whiners.
    2. Small businesses can't be represented online by these whiners.
    3. If yelp can't charge whiners to post, its business is dead because small businesses are sick of paying for extortion and review manipulation from yelp.

If yelp continues to manipulate reviews, support whiners and extort business owners, it will have no place in business.

My business grew despite the manipulated review because my customers are affluent older people which don't yap on cryelp like useless brainless teenagers do. They just come in, spend money and appreciate our service.

I agree the extortion and manipulating the reviews by filtering out the good honest reviews for my small business got the better of me. Obviously my business grew despite the defaming trash on yelp because we have always cared and went the extra mile for our customers. I look for every way to sink a knife into this POS company including buying Angies ads just to give them money, donating to the movie, and shorting a stinking 100 shares with a decent profit now. Looking to up the heat an short a few hundred more shares over the next few days.

    Short yelp, it pays!

I will buy only when yelp stops extorting small businesses who are supposed to be its customers. Oh, the yelp extortion movie is coming out. Maybe I should short more and see who makes money. Already up 1400 shorting only 100 shares of this POS.

I made 1400 bucks on a tiny 100 share short. Sure I am an emotional mess. Guess I will just have hold this POS short long term.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

  • Management is used to pulling BS putting the company on sale, just like the extortion they did on small businesses. Now there is no where to go on this trash company but down. A happy short here shorted on principle, but happily getting back my money donated to the yelp video. $1300 dollars so far on 100 shares. Not too shabby. I am gonna HOLD (my short) long term. There is a good long term outlook shorting this POS.

Unfortunately majority of my customers are well established older folks, not teenie yelpers who are going to whine if they don't get all the free-bees they think are entitled to them. Unfortunately, the older more mature and affluent customers don't go on this trashy site. Yes, my business has a couple of negative reviews from these teenie yelpers who I have gone out of the way to help out yet they demand more and don't want to pay me. My business is doing very well despite the "filtered" reviews from these folks occasionally spotting these unfair comments writing to defend me. What matters to most honest business owners is the reality of my business servicing my customers and taking excellent care of them, than the con on yelp to get customers in. It would be different if my business is based on teenie yelpers, but they are too poor for that.

Some people are just plain bad and negative people and I have learned in life to stay away from them. No matter how nice you are, they will try to fully exploit you bad mouth you saying you haven't given them enough. Ziop1, that sounds like you and I have learned to stay away from customers like you. We have helped a lot of people in my business and given lots of services to a lot of people in need for free. But there are people like you that will still whine and try to get more even after you have gotten the best of us, for free. Glad I wised up and learned to not help your kind, just like probably everyone else you have encountered in life that you are wondering why you have no friends or family to help you. I feel sorry for you sorry azzes. Glad I shorted Yelp, made over 1K on it for far. Hope you are the one holding the bag.

What yelp buyer gets would not only be the failing business but all the intangibles that comes with it, which includes the hatred from thousands of small businesses that yelp has hurt and tons of bad will with their potential customers. They have hurt so many people over the years that it's coming home to roost. It may take more time for bad karma to return to Yelp, but it will be for whoever that is buying this POS company.

  • This POS depends on free users to extort small businesses to advertise with them. Unfortunately, the game is up and the small businesses are holding their ground and fighting back. They are still fighting small businesses that are defamed by withholding the lying poster's identities in court. Why should any legitimate honest small business want to associate with these trashy people. I intentionally boycott and tell those in my industry to boycott yelp advertisers that need yelp to lie for them. Yelp will meet its fate.

I think you don't understand the issue beyond the surface.
    1. Most of your merchants don't have pages of bad reviews. they have a few but are the ones not filtered even if they are lies, because the good ones are often the ones that are filtered. That significantly affects their ratings/business and yelp takes advantage of the situation.
    2. The good places can be manipulated by the "filters" as long as enough good reviews get filtered out and that system can be chosen/designed/tweaked to skew certain ways. They are not telling you or me how it's done.
    3. It might only be a waste of money for restaurant goers or regular consumers. But imagine a good doctor who is very skilled with jealous competitors who puts up a couple of false bad yelp reviews telling people that he is bad and to sue him for anything. He stops doing high risk surgeries, and we are forced to go elsewhere and risk bad outcomes. This happened in my community. Or look at the carpet cleaner in DC that got slandered on yelp but yelp refuses to release the identity of the posters even though they claim they are an innocent host. He might be the best in town, but his reputation is tarnished by a few young punks, and customers are confused.

So while you play yelp stock and make a couple of bucks, know that the company has done a lot of bad to hurt many people and that may come home to roost.

I bet Yelp filtered out the good posts and kept this fake post on there. The reason why small businesses are angry is due to jerks like this. The problem is yelp refuse to remove fake posts like this, yet continue to filter out real positive posts from real customers. And there are thousands like this where the business people complaint and yelp is all too happy to use this to sell their "services." Talk about yelp cutting its own throat with their potential small merchant customers. Now the potential customers want to cut yelp's throat.
