"Think my scenario sounds far fetched?"
Don't know how I missed this one.
Anyway, I find it odd, considering some of the wacky conspiracy theories you've concocted in the past, that you would think this is even close to being one of them. It just sounds like typical negotiating tactics to me.
I think GM would be crazy to be the first to do this. While it probably makes some sense from a business standpoint, the PR would be a disaster. Let Ford do it first!
"You don't need to know about any of mine."
And we certainly don't!
What we DO know about is EZPW - down 75% in the past three years, GG - down 65% in the past three years, and silver, well, you know!
If you DO have any winners, you've done a masterful job of keeping them secret.
"Just because you found common ground with wngr, on one subject, does not put you in his league."
Couldn't have said it better!
"Why don't you wake up and understand what's going on sometime, Chebby? You have to be one of the simplest and most naive gulls on this board."
Oh, geez, Webby, this really hurts my feelings. I thought sure I had earned your respect by now.
OK, I'm over it.
China bought US debt for two primary reasons. First, to keep their currency cheap relative to the dollar so they could continue to export to us. Second, because it's the safest debt instrument there is.
Let me get this straight: China is selling US treasuries on the down low, and buying gold on the QT. Somehow YOU know about this but the rest of the world doesn't, so they are actually getting away with it. They're cleverly trading away US debt, which admittedly doesn't return much, in exchange for gold - which has gotten absolutely slaughtered over the past three years. Once they're done, gold will then skyrocket, the dollar will crash and you and China will be rich beyond anyone's wildest dreams.
You've lost your mind.
Oh, BTW, who are the idiots that are buying all this US debt they're selling?
Why don't you read the Bloomberg article "China Sells U.S. Treasuries to Support Yuan." Maybe you could report back how many times gold is mentioned as a reason for the sale.
"sure looks like cheblano just called wngr a fool!!!"
Nothing could be further from the truth, and nothing could better sum up your simple minded interpretation of Don Quixote.
An odd grouping, to be sure!
Wngr, I have enjoyed reading your quixotic efforts to persuade the unpersuadable. I am quite sure that you have, on many occasions, taken a position on an issue based on available information then modified that position when presented with new facts. This is what rational people do. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Webby, Jeye & MAllen. They have proven themselves to be impervious to facts.
Webby, with his gold obsession, goofy conspiracy theories and irrational hatred of all things GM, is still capable of reasonable conversation at times - but not for long. But his GM hatred pales in comparison to that of MAllen. Have you noticed that MAllen only shows up here on down days? I honestly believe that MAllen would be happy if the whole world went into the toilet as long as he could be assured that GM would go with it. And Jeye? Well, he's just Jeye. He's absolutely convinced the deck is stacked against him and nothing you say, or anyone else says, is going to shake that belief.
Still, you try! There's something to be said for that!
If you had good reasons to buy a stock, why would you sell in a panic? It makes no sense. Yes, it's painful to watch the price drop after you buy, but if nothing has changed with the fundamentals of the company you bought, it makes no sense to sell. Buy more if you reasonably can! It'll come back - it always does. If it doesn't, your fundamental analysis was bad and you shouldn't have bought in the first place.
"Sorry about the delay!
You probably thought I was wrong, huh?"
Nicely done, Mallen! You waited long enough to get one right. Sure, it took a general market meltdown to get there, but it got there!
How much more patience will we need for the $200 oil? I know you are loath to say exactly when it will happen, but maybe you could narrow it down a little. Based on family history, and barring unforeseen events, I hope to live at least another 30 years.
Will that be long enough?
"Ya know RDH, you can post anything you like on this board within the unenforced Yahoo guidelines. But when you start with this kind of #$%$, you lose me. You put yourself in the same category of these other under developed morons whom I pay no attention to."
That's because there is pretty strong evidence that he IS some of those other under developed morons.
"So if you accuse me of things I have not done, just be prepared for any consequences."
Spare us the phony righteous indignation, Webby. Nobody but you knows with certainty whether you're responsible for some or all of these idiotic aliases, but there is good reason to consider you a prime suspect.
What consequences did you have in mind? Will you start posting personal attacks against me? I should hope not! I have a very fragile ego and such attacks would be devastating, I'm sure.
You're such a funny guy.
"This is why the workers are not waiting with baited breath..."
OK, I hate to do this to you, but the word is "bated", as in "abate", not "baited." Since I know you take some pride in your writing skills (and properly so!) I thought you'd like to know.
Still, thumbs up for the post!
I'm with you, Questy.
While I agree with Wngr that this makes sense from the standpoint of filling a gap in the Buick lineup and adding to an underutilized plant, it just looks bad. Let Ford do it first. They aren't carrying the baggage of GM.
"Use google twit, not yahoo. And, news not web."
Oh, I get it now!
You weren't suggesting that m48 use "google twit", you were trying to call him a twit! Let's see now, a twit is a stupid or foolish person. What should we call someone who doesn't know to write "use google, twit" instead of "use google twit" when he means to insult someone?
