Talk about "bait and switch" why no public outrage that our hallowed insurance industry has sold so many junk health insurance policies to a gullible, unsuspecting public. God help those people if they ever do get really sick. Can you imagine the surprise when you find out your $59/mo. family health ins. policy doesn't cover hospitalization.
Sorry to burst your bubble, edblue1003, but that woman on TV with the stage IV cancer was confused and misinformed. She lost her coverage not because of the ACA, but because UnitedHealth could no longer compete with BCBS of California and Kaiser Permanente and had decided long ago to cancel all 8,000 policies and pull out of that So. Cal. market at year's end. A comparison was made of her current plan, Pacificare PPO and a new plan she would receive under the ACA thru the California exchange.
Old Plan...2,186 mo. premium $3,000 deductible 20% coinsurance $8,000 in-network yearly max for a yearly cost to insurer of approx $37,000. Under the ACA.. Blue of California Ultimate PPO $1,919 mo. premium, $0 deductible, $8,000 in-network max for a yearly cost to insurer of $31,000. Plus she gets consumer protection such as no sudden cancellation (like her old policy) no charging women more than men and a comprehensive benefit package. What Obama haters fail to understand is that 95% of all insurers will get to keep their current plans and the 5% remaining who buy independently will now have consumer protection and will now get real insurance instead of being ripped off by an unregulated industry. I'm afraid Obamacare is here to stay.
Okay it's time to seperate fact from fiction....Fact...95% of Americans will see no change in their health policies. The 5% are those who have purchased what they thought was health ins. independently. Think about it, do you really think you can purchase real health insurance for 59 dollars a month. Like the lady who went on Fox News that her 59 dollar policy was being cancelled. As it turned out, much to her surprise, it was only a supplemental policy that didn't even cover hospitalization. Of course these people are going to see their premiems double or triple, because now they will be getting real health insurance, instead of some scam policy the ins. industry sold them. Many of these people will qualify for tax credits or assistance that will bring their premiems down below a hundred bucks a month. Republicans need to get out of the way and let this thing play out. BTW..where is their health plan?
LOL...I'd have more respect for you if you'd just admit that yes, indeed, you are a racist, and love of country has nothing to do with hating Obama. BTW..Do you think it's love of country that caused the republicans to shut down our government?
hey p2ialias..either you're being disingenuous, or you're a dumbazz..the reason so many individual policies are being cancelled is because they are substandard to begin with. These are cheap policies people have bought that don't cover squat. Basic things like Dr. visits, maternity care, prescription drugs and in some cases even hospitalization. What this all boils down to is that republicans think health care is a priviledge and democrats and progressives think health care is a right. Republicans were on the wrong side of social security and medicare, and now on the wrong side of ACA.
Republican party on the wrong side of social security, medicare, and now Obamacare. At least they are consistent. The ACA will be successful and this should be the final nail in the GOP coffin.
