I still think with the current pipeline, they need one more drug to be approved for a buyout. then they get 4B or so. Until then, they might get offers but not over 3B. but hey, what do I know. Just my 2 cents
he doesn't read his email. his exec sec/admin does. I worked in biotech and we had over 300 people. We all knew the ceo didn't read his mail. no time for that.
do you remember me screaming that ARIA was 6.90 and 6.80 on the two big dow/nas down days??? and then it drops when the dow/nas come back the next two days. then it starts it's climb to 7. then it trades a tad lower but buyers kept it up. Then bang, 8.45. then bang, 10. people knew this was coming. We didn't.
you have to remember that a company doesn't have to disclose offers or negotiations unless it's consummated/agreed upon. If they fall apart, nothing has to be said per govt rules.
was there any report published where they listed the actual price?? from all I know (which I might have missed something) that BXLT wanted to offer 2B range. 14 is 2.65B and I think that is a lot for aria. One analyst just said that it's "fairly" priced at 6.5 range. Everyone got excited over the weekend but what people forgot to think about is the offer was a month old. If so, why talk over the weekend if it was rejected??? now we know nothing is going forward. BXLT wants a deal/bargain and ARIA mgt wants the sky. I bet if you had a beer with berger, his price would be way north of 30 a share and even above 50. Think about this, if ARIA was buyable, it would be gone already. MRK bought some preclinical firm for like 4B a year or so ago and they only had a concept compound an no clinical data. That goes to show that if you're buyable, you're bought. ARIA isn't that yet.
some longs were saying they are talking over the weekend. I said the offer was a month ago and no talks were ongoing (which is a guess since the offer was rejected). You never know but it looks like big pharma doesn't want to pay what we want (or berger). Until they get that 2nd drug, this isn't going for a price near 20.
the offer was made a month ago. we don't know when ARIA rejected it. If a week later, doubt any talks are going on this weekend (except for this board). Wish someone from the inside was posting but they'd lose their job fast.
if anyone here wants to learn and get good info, listen to citamar. He's very good and knowledgeable. His picks and trading are awesome.
I was home and listening while trading but I didn't hear they got a new CEO. if so, he/she can be the division head reporting to BXLT but the 2B number is from BXLT and what we have to guess is how much more than 2B will they be willing to go. If it's low 2's, forget ARIA.
good thoughts and comments. and if bxlt has space, they'll close aria's in a heartbeat and layoff lots of people in the process. they just want the drugs and pipeline/patents. people are trash in today's buyouts.
now I know how a guy with 5" tells all the girls he's 10". Just increase an inch to a mile. geez, there wasn't any definitive price given so why is everyone stating I know it was for X bucks?? All we know is they are hunting for a company around the 2B price tag. How much above that is up in the air. I'd love berger to come on CNBC Monday and say ARIA isn't for sale!!!!
where do you get that price?? the news says 2B range. 15 is almost 2.9B. far off
where do you get 2B market cap?? ARIA was below 8's and the MC at that price is less than 1.5B. It spent most of it's time in the low 7's and 6's.
I just posted that before seeing your question. what we know is the offer was a month ago and rejected. Doubt BXLT will sweeten. Doubt anyone else will pony up but what do I know. This has been sitting since before the FDA debacle and now with inclusig and brig and we get a low offer. A 23B dollar company offers in the range of 2B. Lame if you ask me. Not sure if anyone else will bite. Time will tell. I'd like it to fall to the 6's again for a while to load up but doubt it hits that for months.
why would they lease space out if a BO was happening??? the new firm would have deep pockets and would hire more to fill the void.
if the offer was for 2B, the math works out to 10.60 a share. won't go to 12 unless WS thinks a higher offer is in the cards.
