  • Mainly the prefered clients of Stifel sold or shorted yesterday. It is interesting to see how the stock would end up by the end of today. My read on the effects of google's search algorithm adjustments is somewhat different. First of all, the new algorithm of google only removes these redundant links, so the effect is on these customers who missed the first link. Secondly, the repeat customers, especially the mobile app customers of retailmennot are not affected much. Thirdly, many of the deal users do comparison shopping and expect them to try all these coupon websides --- and eventually they will go to the best side based on ease of finding deals. I think retailmenot is right to focus on its technology and on the deals. Fourth, the algorithm adjustments affect all coupon companies. As far as the competitive advantage of SALE is still there, I would not worry about this stock at all. If SALE can keep its market share vs. its competitors, would you expect the coupon usage in the US to be affected by an algorithm change of google search (that eliminates the redundant information)? I wouldn't. QUite the opposite, the new algorithm should allow users to get to these deals faster, and thus good for the coupon companies.
