  • '”While quarterly revenue was impacted by the delayed start of the 2014 California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project as well as the timing of customer orders, we continued to make significant progress on our strategic initiatives,” said Eric R. Ridenour, UQM Technologies’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “The addition of new customers in a variety of important geographies, particularly China, is broadening our reach. We now have more total customers than we have ever had who are designing our industry-leading products into their next-generation vehicles. Together with key manufacturing certifications, we believe the strategic components are coming together for long-term success.” '

...looks like the boys plan to milk the company and shareholders for a few more years...the gift that keeps on giving....can't wait to see if ANYONE has the nerve on the CC to question Eric about the continued excuses for lack of substantial, verifiable contracts with ANYONE other than 4th tier companies that either can't or won't pay their bills....have fun on the call boys......roflmao

Yeah, UQM is like a nice fat annuity to these guys. So long as no one holds them accountable why do the right thing, just keep the money train going. ...jmho

They do have plant & equipment , some cash, they still have some potential dough from the feds(expires 1/2015) and they have an accumulated deficit of about $100 million, that should be worth something to someone in a profitable manufacturing business. They might be able to get $2.25 - $3.25 /share for the company. So with all the stock grants these guys have they could walk away with some decent retirement money. But, as often happens, big egos just have to be in the game regardless of the loss of their own integrity. jmho.

  • gives themselves the latest stock grants they might consider selling the company. Little late but hey, they are not getting any younger. Whoops, Bill is still the COB no? Sorry. They have been able to keep the gravy train running all these years, why stop now? BOD doesn't seem to mind.

Only magic here is that management has been able to get away with the charade for so long.

...of course don't forget they are going to vote for another 1,500,000 million shares for employee stock options. UQM is a company that keeps on giving to themselves. Eric isn't about to develop any integrity and upset the cash cow. Bill and Don got away with it for 15+ years and now Eric. Why ruin a good thing? lol

"I'm asking, find a better motor." Apparently EVERY Tier 1 auto manufacturer getting into the electric market has found or manufactured what they consider to be better motors.
"It's not easy to get DOE grants through ORNL." Getting grants and loans from this administration apparently IS pretty easy especially if you are politically well connected. Just look at the solar outfits that have gone belly -up, not to mention Fiskar...those to the tune of 100's of millions of dollars. So a measly $45million for UQM couldn't have been all that difficult.
"So, it _seems_ this company isn't the best a marketing their product despite having executives that know the market, but how good is the product and how strong is the market? " Exactly the reasons why the current management should be fired or the company should be sold. Poor management, poor product, poor market. jmho

  • chiligii chiligii Jun 4, 2014 9:14 AM Flag

If UQM has such a good product why can they not obtain one significant, verifiable contract with anyone other than 4th rate start-ups that have little to no chance of succeeding? Witness the past 20 years of making no profits, no sales growth and making sustainable deals of ANY sort, other than living off ill advised taxpayer grants.

DOE grants are not easy to obtain? Whom are you trying to kid? This administration has handed out big bucks to anyone who will kiss their collective butts! You are correct that there is no market for their product.

"They do have a lot of competition but the market should soon be huge if there's a government or business that holds itself responsible for solving environmental problems." Just more political BS. The government should get OUT of the way and not involve itself in the markets. Very simple, stop the waste, stop the abuse, stop the cronyism! ...jmho

"However other than the top line they are making big progress. " Actually they are making very little progress. UQM has been around for 20+ years and they have done little more than sell demos , stock and promises. They have been able to get contracts ONLY with third or fourth tier start-ups that have little to no chance of survival, all resulting in BIG losses for the company. This is not conjecture, it is fact. The only reason UQM is still alive is because they were able to con $45 million in grants out of an arrogant administration that has NO respect for the taxpayer or taxpayer money. Granted UQM has stayed alive but primarily through political pull and only to the benefit of a few employees and greatly over payed management. No substantial, verifiable, long term contracts have been won from ANY Tier 1 manufacturer of ANY sort, this fact alone brings their designs and products into question. UQM and its management has to be judged on its past performance for they have shown they have not changed or progressed.....of course, jmho.

May be the last chance - Today

    by whinthorn May 29, 2014 9:15 AM
chiligii chiligii May 29, 2014 12:45 PM Flag the past 5 years there has NEVER been a "last" chance to buy UQM stock. Even IF the stock were to jump by $.25 there would still be another chance to get in.
"IF there is positive news, it will set off a run higher for a long time - something we have been waiting for for a very long time." As you say IF there is positive news the stock could run, however, if any positive news doesn't include a verifiable, substantial, long term contract any move up will be met with selling.
Short of Eric announcing that they are shopping the company, there will be ample time for anyone to buy as much stock as they want.
To date there have NOT been any contract wins with any Tier 1 manufacturers of any sort and the last news about affiliation with a Turkish outfit is predictably similar to announcements about Phoenix and CODA and will likely result in similar outcomes.
Good luck to you whinthorn. You certainly have been a long-suffering and loyal shareholder, slightly delusional, but loyal just the same......jmho

Yeah...a few years back it was around $6...that's a lot of deflation in a few

  • ....UQM stock down is very simply because they have NO verifiable, sizable, long term contracts with ANY manufacturer of ANY significance. The turkey (UQM) has come home to roost in Turkey.... ! It is laughable and VERY predictable. jmho

  • The boys better get the cash for any product UP FRONT or this will be another in a long line of failures for UQM. They have to go to Turkey, TURKEY?, to get a Memorandum of Understanding? Better get the cash, up front, deposited and cleared before a single dollar is spent on this promise. Boys and girls IF there is any rally of the stock on this news it is just another opportunity to sell......jmho
