  • The BlackBerry Passport has taken the tech industry by storm since it was released last month. John Chen’s aim of winning over the hearts of professionals has been accomplished, as many executives are switching over to this device for their work needs. Mercedes AMG Petronas Executive Director, Toto Wolff, is no exception. Previously using the MacBook for his work needs, Wolff has ditched the Apple product and switched to Passport.

“I have the Passport, which is really good, because it’s replaced my MacBook…” he said.

The Passport is not his only BlackBerry device. Wolff is a hardcore BlackBerry fan, as seen by his usage of the Q10 and a Bold 9700.

“And then I have a work phone that’s a BlackBerry, and a business phone that’s a BlackBerry. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

It’s not only the top executives at Mercedes who use BlackBerry for communication and other daily tasks. 200 others are BlackBerry users, including technicians and team members. BBM takes communication to the next level, especially for the IT team, who have used BBM for video calls on numerous occasions to communicate with other members across the globe, and get things done.

BlackBerry’s partnership with Mercedes has resulted in a lot more than just branding for the former. Mercedes have chosen BlackBerry as their mobile computing partner. This shows how keen Mercedes are on remaining one of BlackBerry’s major enterprise customers. Hopefully this partnership continues in the long run, benefiting both in different ways – marketing for BlackBerry, and better mobility for Mercedes.

That's according to BlackBerry who is now sending out emails to enterprise customers letting them know BES12 is well on its way and inviting them to sign up for more information as we get closer to full scale availability of the next generation of BES.

Something exciting is coming, and we want you to be a part of it. Calling all of those who are finished with the bold but unfounded claims of other vendors. It's time for the most simply designed, flexibly deployed, functional and secure set of mobility tools yet.

We've been carefully designing and building this for the last two years. From system architecture design to user interface mapping to strategic acquisitions, we're poised to deliver a portfolio that will explode onto the EMM market and push your business far, far forward.

This portfolio represents the end of mobile compromise and the beginning of secure possibilities.

BES12 hasn't been a secret, it was announced in February but since then, more than 3,500 businesses have taken advantage of BlackBerry's EZ Pass program to upgrade from BlackBerry BES5 or a competitive platform to BES10 and BlackBerry has issued nearly 3.5 million user licenses.

BES12 expands on all of the previous offerings and opens the doors to additional devices and operating systems and delivering new levels of enhanced services, automation, and ease of use to organizations everywhere, no matter their size.

The increase is not finished, the target price is $ 18 +

With the BlackBerry Passport launch event now over and done with, we were waiting to see what event would be next for BlackBerry and as it turns out, it's one for enterprise customers. On November 13th, BlackBerry has set aside some time in San Francisco where BlackBerry CEO John Chen and members of his senior leadership team will delve into the latest developments of the company's enterprise strategy and vision.

What does that mean? Well, as we learned on the last BlackBerry earnings call, we should be expecting the official arrival of BES 12 and to go along with that, likely some announcements by way of BBM Meetings. That also puts us squarely in the middle of November when the BlackBerry Classic has been suggested to arrive, so we're expecting to hear more about that, if not before November 13th.

Lenovo to Establish Internet-Focused Smart Device Company in China Next Year
Hong Kong, Oct. 15, 2014 – Today, Lenovo Group (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) is announcing that it will create a new company focused on building a leading internet-based smart devices and services business in China. The company will become operational on April 1, 2015. It will operate under a separate name and brand.

The objective of this move is to help Lenovo attack the fast growing consumer mobile device market in China, with a focus not only on devices, but also on software and application development and close customer engagement. Currently Lenovo has a leading smartphone business, which sells mainly through open market sales and carrier relationships. While Lenovo has and continues to strengthen its own company-branded online channels as part of its go-to-market strategy, the new company will exclusively focus on direct-to-consumer sales, marketing and product development using an internet-based business model.

Effective April 1, Chen Xudong, currently president of Lenovo’s China geography and Asia Pacific – Emerging Markets (East Asia, Hong Kong, ASEAN and India), will become CEO of this new company. He has substantial marketing, sales and operational experience, and a proven track record in building Lenovo’s China business to record levels in PC, tablet and smartphone.

Liu Jun, executive vice president and head of Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group, and George He, senior vice president and head of Lenovo’s Ecosystem and Cloud Services Group, will be the co-chairmen.
