Nice statement from Roger Lynch in a Home Media Magazine article.. If only there was an avenue or brand to get both more content and increase consumer awareness:
Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV, said the service has more than 10,000 hours of on-demand programing available from content partners. At the same time, on-demand rights vary, making it inconsistent and little known to subscribers.
“Whatever [VOD] is today, it is frankly the worst it will ever be. It's only getting improved because channel partners secure the right's that they can grant us additional rights,” Lynch said. “So I'm quite bullish on what we're seeing on VOD.”
I quit trying to guess the timing. I thought perhaps after the spectrum auction, or when Sling TV was launched we would get some info. Sling TV looks to be getting some good traction and it is notable that Dish rebranded their international offering to Sling as well. Global distribution, anyone? Sling may or may not be the launch vehicle, but we will have to wait and see. There is certainly more than one way it could happen.
Like several other old timers here, I have placed my bets long ago and just continue to sit (somewhat) patiently for the outcome.
I don't know if this is an open call, but if you happen to find a call in # and conference ID, can you share it? I have done a cursory search and looked on DISH's IR page, but there is no reference to it.
