TG hinted at this in the last Q CC

  • Patent app. 20140192467
Has to do with ion implantation and sapphire glass

Old twitter page. Articles linked at the bottom are from earl 2013. That is why the video no longer exists. :(

This is the latest creation of the "rumor" mill. It is all over the web. Expect many more of these till Apple reveals. LOL

  • Proposed Activity
    2. Provide a short summary (generally no more than a few paragraphs) of the activity
that you propose to conduct under FTZ procedures.
Project Cascade is currently approved to conduct high-tech manufacturing of
intermediate goods/components for consumer electronics under FTZ Board approval
number S-5-2014, on March 19, 2014. The final finished merchandise will primarily be
exported, but other intermediate items produced in the production process may be
    shipped domestically from the Zone.
This request is to expand that scope of authority to include additional components for use
in production and additional finished goods that will be produced at the facility. These
items are within the same overall scope of the original request, and are along similar
product and HTSUS lines of product.
This high-tech manufacturing process creates a critical new sub-component of Apple
Products to be used in the manufacture of the consumer electronics that will be imported
and then sold globally. By further expanding this process into the U.S., Apple will be
using cutting edge, new technology to enhance and improve the consumer products,
making them best in class per product type.

So, what is this product or these products? The Iwatch is an obvious guess, but, others????
Very interesting. Seems more than one piece of finished goods involved. Just what is the "critical new sub-component of Apple Products?" Sapphire? Or could it be something we no nothing about yet?

Agree, focus on the company, not the stock. The company will do well which will, in turn, result in a rise in s/p. If you simply follow the stock, you will get whiplash, an ulcer, and, maybe a concussion from banging your head against the wall.

It is wonderful to be inspiring. ; )
We have couple of friends who have recently gotten into GT. I tell all of them to, research the company and everything you can find and read about it, other than the articles that are written by so-called analysts since they are mostly rumor and , many times, the authors have an agenda.
Reading the patents and patent apps are a big part of this research. IP is so important. Even if , like me, one does not understand much of the patent , if one knows the company well, one can understand enough of the patent. The value of this company will not be found in the usual analysts' ramblings.

Goog Apple expansion plans Mesa, and you will find an article on the expansion, published late march 2014.

  • Patent app. no. 20140160649
[0017] The cover plate of the electronic device of the present invention comprises a modified sapphire layer having a higher dielectric constant than sapphire, described in more detail below. The cover plate may be a single, free-standing modified sapphire layer or it may comprise additional layers, including additional sapphire layers, modified sapphire layers, or layers of other materials capable of providing further beneficial properties, such as improved mechanical or surface properties, including hardness or resistance to cracking. For example, the cover plate may comprise an antireflective and/or oleophobic coating, typically having a thickness of from about 0.001 microns to about 1.5 microns. Thus, the cover plate can be a multilayer composite comprising at least one layer of modified sapphire having a higher dielectric constant than sapphire, Preferably, particularly for cost reasons, the cover plate comprises a single layer of modified sapphire.

Come on...This is the important stuff and it is mind boggling. Ignore the so called analysts. When did one of them address something like the possibilities of a patent like this one? Their words are worthless, except that they reach many who believe them, and so, the words accomplish their goals. These people have done no real research on the company and its value and prospects. Laughable. It is all rumor rehash.

From what I have been able to find, proton therapy was given FDA approval in 2001, and it seems that the systems must go through approval as well.

Sumitomo Receives FDA Approval for Company’s Proton Therapy System is an article that I found from 2013.

I disagree. I have worked in the VA system. There are many VA/military medical centers with the latest and most progressive medical equipment and treatments.

  • More than once, he has said that an order for Hyperion is expected this year, from military or medical. Maybe this means that, rather the order's being from one or the other sector, it can be viewed as being from both as in a Hyperion unit for a VA hospital?j

Agree, I am waiting for word of a military contract. When it comes to our military, and a company gets a contract, how often does it not result in more contracts? Talk about recurring revenue.

  • Invest the time to listen to the presentation at the Can. Investor conference. Merlin, Hyperion, silicon carbide, bonding, etc. Wow! Nothing else need be said.

  • clairole27 by clairole27 Aug 10, 2014 11:03 AM Flag

TG has said, during the last two CCs, that GT is expecting an order for Hyperion , this year, from the medical or military sector. I believe GT is in talks with both. When Hyperion and Merlin sales begin, many of the uninformed will have a "Ahah" moment, and will realize that GT is not just an Apple supplier slave. Then the fun begins. ; )

That statement stood out to me as well. I heard 1800 workers, 700 as being temporary. Temps installing solar power?? Maybe just construction workers finishing up, but would those be temp GT employees?? Interesting and interesting that the temps were even mentioned.

TG called attention to the fact that the Mesa plant was just a shell when they started there. I can't imagine how they did what they did there , in so little time. Who could build that in 9 mos? Some builders need more time than that to build a house. Everyone at GT deserves mucho credit for accomplishing that feat. Imagine what else they are going to do!
