  • You Cannot Keep Hypocrisy Fenced In

Bundy admitted the cow was his, but he said the state is responsible for maintaining the fence that keeps his livestock off the interstate.

“It’s a state problem, it’s not our problem,” Bundy said. “We really feel bad when it happens. We sure don’t want it to happen, but we’re not liable.”

Okay, so let me see if I have this right. You want to keep your cows on government property free of charge because you hate the government. But the government is responsible to keep your fence in good repair while you don’t pay your fees to them?

    The crowning tea party thinking?

Bundy said he was within his rights to make a claim against Beck for the loss of his livestock.

“The person whose car hit that cow is liable to me,” Bundy said.

  • According to Richard Clarke, former White House anti-terrorism advisor to George W. Bush, Osama bin Laden wanted Bush to invade Iraq, so that more Muslims would take up arms against the U.S. and more Muslims would hate our country for its destruction of their land and people. Similarly, ISIS would like nothing better than to embroil the U.S. and our soldiers in a ground war so that it can rally more people to expel the giant U.S. invader.

"It takes a lot of gall for people like #$%$ Cheney to utter even one critical word about President Obama's strategy to eliminate the threat of ISIL in the Middle East.

In fact, it was the unnecessary Bush/Cheney Iraq War that created the conditions that led directly to the rise of the "Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL).

Former George H.W. Bush Secretary of State James Baker said as much on this week's edition of "Meet the Press." He noted that after the first President Bush had ousted Saddam Hussein from Kuwait in 1991, the U.S. had refrained from marching on Baghdad precisely to avoid kicking over the sectarian hornet's nest that was subsequently unleashed by the Bush/Cheney attack on Iraq in 2003.

But it wasn't just the War in Iraq itself that set the stage for the subsequent 12 years of renewed, high-intensity sectarian strife between Sunni's and ##$%$ in the Middle East. It was also what came after.

Bush's "de-Bathification program" eliminated all vestiges of Sunni power in Iraqi society and set the stage for the Sunni insurrection against American occupation and the new #$%$-led government. Bush disbanded the entire Sunni-dominated Iraqi Army and bureaucracy. He didn't change it. He didn't make it more inclusive of ##$%$ and Kurds. He just disbanded it. It is no accident that two of the top commanders of today's ISIL are former commanders in the Saddam-era Iraqi military.

General Petraeus took steps to reverse these policies with his "Sunni Awakening" programs that engaged the Sunni tribes against what was then known as Al Qaeda in Iraq. But the progress he made ultimately collapsed because the Bush/Cheney regime helped install Nouri Al-Maliki as Prime Minister who systematically disenfranchised Sunnis throughout Iraq."

  • 5. Scots believe in government redistribution of wealth from the wealthiest to those less well off. Mr. Cameron and his Conservatives want to use the government to make society even more unequal.

    1. Scots are on the whole substantially to the left of the current government of the UK, with 64% unsatisfied with the performance of Conservative prime minister David Cameron. The Conservatives only have one member of parliament from Scotland.

    2. Scots overwhelmingly favor renewable energy, especially wind power, over nuclear and hydraulic fracturing of natural gas. Mr. Cameron favors fracking.. Scotland has pulled out all the stops in promoting green energy and gets over 40% of its electricity from renewables, aiming for 100% by 2022. England in contrast is a carbon hog.

    3. Scots believe in higher education and are afraid of the consequences of Cameron’s deep cuts to university and research funding, which have plummeted the UK to the bottom of the G8 in this regard.

    4. Scots overwhelmingly support the National Health Service even if they criticize it for delays. But they are afraid that right wing England will completely privatize it.

how silly can you get? The ACA is based on private for profit insurance companies competing in market exchanges. and since most people get their insurance from employers or medicare or Tricare and already had good qualifying insurance, they are not affected by the ACA.
Last time I went to the doc the government had nothing to do with the appointment, the doc's diagnosis, or anything ,really....... there have been some changes in how insurers must operate, now they must offer real policies same as corporations and medicare and Tricare always have.... no bs about caps and some things not covered....

that is a typical rightwinger lie. Similar have been fact checked and it usually ends up that the person was just a dodo rightie who refused to check out what was available on the ACA, and often the cheaper insurance they had before wasn't good for much or was capped and basically a rippoff. and what kind of fool claims to be a "capitalist" but then leaves themselves exposed to potentially millions of dollars of hospital bills by going without insurance..... either a fool or a person with no assets to protect anyway.

As Salon's Jenny Kutner put it:

"A legal scholar told the Chronicle that the court issued a sound ruling, saying that it 'cannot be made a crime in the United States' to look at someone in public and think lascivious thoughts about them. But such an analysis fundamentally misunderstands the difference between looking at someone in a public space and photographing them without consent. The thinking of lascivious thoughts is irrelevant, because that’s not what laws against taking 'upskirt' photos and other illicit creepshots are meant to prevent. They are meant to prevent the violation of people’s physical autonomy in public spaces; they are meant to prevent sexual harassment. Apparently, though, it’s not harassment when it’s just a surreptitious photo — that’s art."

  • Pervs in Texas Can Still Legally Snap Photos Up Women's Skirts, Court Rules

The court threw out a prohibitory “upskirt” photo law, because banning creepshots is “paternalistic."

I guess it didn't occur to the judge that the area hidden beneath a person's clothing isn't public space. But who would expect a woman's right to her own bodily privacy to be a priority in a state that's famous for hacking away at pro-choice health care rights?

As the Houston Chronicle reported, "The case involved Ronald Thompson, who was charged in 2011 with 26 counts of improper photography after taking underwater pictures of clothed children - most wearing swimsuits - at a San Antonio water park. He appealed the law's constitutionality before his trial. He contended that a plain reading of the law would place street photographers, entertainment journalists, arts patrons, pep rally attendees and 'even the harmless eccentric' at risk of incarceration."

good grief. there are hundreds of epa clean up sites.
    but here is one, stupid:
The Berkeley Pit is a former open pit copper mine located in Butte, Montana, United States. It is one mile long by half a mile wide with an approximate depth of 1,780 feet (540 m). It is filled to a depth of about 900 feet (270 m) with water that is heavily acidic (2.5 pH level), about the acidity of cola or lemon juice.[1] As a result, the pit is laden with heavy metals and dangerous chemicals that leach from the rock, including copper, arsenic, cadmium, zinc, and sulfuric acid.[1]

The mine was opened in 1955 and operated by Anaconda Copper and later by the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), until its closure in 1982. When the pit was closed, the water pumps in the nearby Kelly shaft, at a depth of 3,800 feet, were turned off, and groundwater from the surrounding aquifers began to slowly fill the pit, rising at about the rate of one foot a month.[1] .......The pit and its water present a serious environmental problem because the water, will reach the natural water table and , the pit water will reverse flow back into surrounding groundwater, polluting into Silver Bow Creek which is the headwaters of Clark Fork River
