I would expect that we see one soon before earnings on Feb 5th. Comments like this show that smart money is becoming wary. In addition while the recent listener hours numbers reflect growth, it also demonstrates that the growth rate is slowing more than ever. All of this combined with immense market cap growth over the last year with still no profit screams downgrade.

We currently stand at 15% beyond the 1 year average price target and we'd see a huge pullback if that target starts averaging down.

Well, then you and your buddies are wingnuts that have no idea how to price equities. Good luck with your paper trades. I hope you're only dumb enough to paper trade this long...

I thought all of the pros here said it would climb after New Years! LOL. EGLE is toast, this is just the start of a sell-off. The question now is whether I buy March puts or April puts for the impending bankruptcy.

So your best response is that I missed the top by a couple days? I still made money. By the looks of it, you weren't smart enough to sell then. Good luck.

  • The long posts here are laughable. Why take such a significant risk in a business that has clearly stated that they don't know how they will resolve their debt issuances due in march? You stand to lose everything. Looking at option interest for January the optimal pin is $3 just two weeks from now. And the average target estimate by analysts is 1.67 and they almost all say sell. Funds like SEA and PRFZ have already dropped EGLE while insiders are selling. Longs are clearly on the wrong side of this trade and the retail longs will be the ones that get burned. ITM Mid-term puts are your best bet. Good Luck.

    Dow down but EGLE up...what?

Bit of a mis-quote there. The BDIY was was around 1139 a few weeks ago and was floating around 800 for the whole last year prior to that, now it's at 1947. So it's only up 140% from a year ago and 71% from a few weeks ago. The fun part is that EGLE only owns Supramax ships. The Supramax portion of the index is only up 14.6% from a year ago, yet the stock is almost double. They still were rated sell to neutral across the board before this price spike and they're almost at 3 times the 1 year price estimate. This was just a plain and simple squeeze that only had 4 days to cover (and those 4 days are now pretty much complete). Would be amusing if we hear of a secondary soon which would make the squeeze an interesting coincidence.

Look at the price action last year at the same time. EGLE seasonally popped and then gave up 25% over the following 3 weeks (last week of Sept and first two of Oct).

Some of the posts here are cracking me up. The current price of VRTX isn't sustainable. We're heading into earnings soon and we will also soon hear more results from their current trials. At the same time insiders have been selling at record levels and still have been selling this week and last week. This last week has been a suckers rally on low volume and valuations for the last few months have been too high as well. You can all proceed to bash me now, but I'll still be the one laughing when this fills the multiple gaps below. A year from now, this bloated market cap of $17B will likely be a few billion. Then maybe someone would consider buying them, but not at current prices.

When was the last time that you saw so many insiders unload before a merger or buyout was announced? There were almost a million shares sold off by insiders in the last few weeks. Almost 100K in the last week. I doubt they'd be so foolish. Good luck with that though.

Good try twisting the facts. When he sold in February, I doubt he had the information about the data that they released in April. There weren't any other sales after that until the significant unloading of shares in the last several weeks by insiders. And yes, he's probably kicking himself now for that... For all we know, results may have looked bleak for the trials that they were running at the time. I'm sure that you've read the skepticism of some of the results and errors that were made along the way. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, then you haven't done your research.

The only accurate thing in this article is the part about institutions wanting to push the price down next week to minimize losses on calls. I expect it to dump next week into expiration.

Not if you were an insider that thought it was going to go higher. Obviously these insiders think it's going to fall. Don't you trust the instinct of the leadership of this company who have inside information to make good investment decisions with regards to price of the stock?

Don't panic. Look at what is happening to CX and CRH (both peers). Down over 5%. TXI is being propped up and we should see some serious dumping once more economic panic sets in as usual at this time of year. Nobody needs building materials in a recession.

Yep, $45 is too high, but this short trade is super crowded right now. If the market starts to rally, the short squeeze on this will be extremely painful. I'm targeting $30's on the next rally. And the market is already creating support for a rally.
