Not just office supplies but furnishings, office equipment, etc. If they assign Prime memberships to their purchasing agents they can save millions more in shipping for $99 a year. This is why Amazon has been unable to show any consistent profits. If they do not change their business model at some point they will find themselves in financial difficulty.

So where is the announcement about the number of Amazon Fire phone pre ordered in the first 24 and 48 hours? How unlike Amazon to provide that kind of info.

    Earnings Estimates

That was my point. The "free" content is also nice but the real reason people get Prime is to get an unlimited amount of shipping cost for $99 per year. And both UPS and Fedex are raising their rates as their shareholders don't want to pay for it.

It looks like the average Yahoo earnings estimates for this year and next are starting to make their move downward. Prime is a great product that keeps getting better. You can buy anything and everything you need and have it shipped for "free" to your home. In this context "free" means Amazon shareholders pay for it. You don't even have to buy in bulk. They will literally UPS toilet paper to your house on a weekly basis if you desire. I would urge everyone to sign up for Prime. However I wouldn't be recommending anyone to buy or hold the stock.

The success of the new phone will depend as much on what it won't do as much as on what it will. If Amazon makes the mistake of making access to competing sales platforms difficult in order to steer customers to its own the phone will flop. No one will carry two phones and if the one phone doesn't have free access to everything out there why would you own one? I don't think Jeff B can resist the opportunity to restrict access to his competitors. We find out tomorrow.

Amazon's new Smart device will be

The you tube spot is actually pretty clever. Amazon does absolutely nothing to represent the abilities of their phone. They hired some young people to look down and make innocuous comments about something they are looking at. When the cheesy 3D display is exposed for what it really is there is no liability on the part of Amazon for misrepresentation. If you want to hold thru the announcement I would urge you to please do so.

There is an article today about the new music service associated with Amazon Prime which is estimated to have 20MM users. If Amazon Prime is growing why have we been hearing about there 20MM users for the past year?
