This story is getting more and more traction, and we need to get all of our politicians to realize how the rich have disproportionately benefited from the Fed Reserve policies.
If they are going to keep their stock market gains, then they need to pay more capital gains taxes on these winnings and support the poor and middle classes more.
Higher taxes are needed for the top 10% of Americans,.......not just the top 2%.
Do they need to pay more for the poor and middle class?
The government policies through the Fed Reserve system has printed $4 Trillion out of thin air, which has been leveraged through equities to create a massive new wealth pile of $25 Trillion of equity gains.
And who has gained all this wealth? The poor? The middle class? Anyone?
The rich own 80% of the US stock markets. They need to share and pay much, much more through support of ACA, higher payments to Medicare, higher social security payments, higher property taxes, higher capital gains taxes, higher you-name -it taxes.
FOLKS - IT IS NOT BEING REPORTED HOW MUCH THE RICH HAVE GAINED FROM THE FED RESERVE POLICIES (THAT'S YOUR CENTRAL BANKSTERS).
CALL OR WRITE YOUR CONGRESS PERSON AND COMPLAIN.........
We have one of the least differentiated and least progressive tax schedules. The income inequality of this country is now at record levels and is completely obscene. CEO's make 400x what the worker makes.
No one can justify this wide gulf from top to bottom. They are reigning this in in Europe with laws and regulations. We need to do the same to restric upper income.
And of course, higher taxes on the wealthy who have benefited so much from the FED reserve money priinting.
You all are smart enough to google minimum wage and see how it has been losing out to inflation for the last 2 decades. And who is fighting any decent increase to the minimum wage? You know who.....the polical party who is sucking at the kneecaps of American Corporation and their greed.
Again, this is a law that will benefit the poorest Americans. And again, the GOP is against helping poor Americans.
If you are not the richest 10% of Americans, you should be voting Democratic. Any other party does not give a damn about the poor and middle classes.
The votes are there to better your situation if you all just vote.
Today's GOP would never support Medicaid or Medicare if these programs were trying to pass congress today. They are doing everything they can to roll these programs back.
And you all know how they are fighting to defund and delay and deny Obamacare to the poor and near poor struggling Americans. It is shameful as they have no plans fo their own to help these poor souls who struggle without healthcare.
Again, if you are not the top 10% richest Americans, you should be voting Democratic. If you don't, you are fighting against your own self interest.
And they do that by fighting every tax increase that would take away even a dollar from the very rich. The GOP today is bought and paid for by the likes of the Koch Brothers and their ilk. They believe in less (cheaper) government which will allow them to have more control over their businesses and provide less income sharing with the rest of us.
Vote Democratic if you are not the richest 1%.
So we will keep getting school shootings because Kids today can get all the guns, ammo, weapons, etc. to cause mass killings in their high school.
Thanks to the GOP, who are basically whoring for the NRA, even any minor and reasonable drawback in gun sales will be fought.
That's why I will no longer vote for GOP (and I voted for two Reagans, four Bushes and one McCain/Dole).
“Most of the benefits of the new program will go to the poor and less-well-off and most of the costs will be born by the well off....."
What is wrong with this? We have the greatest wealth and income inequality in this country since we were ruled by King George. We are on the cusp of a social crisis. I for one think we need to see riots on Wallstreet (much more than the Occupy movement) and by any means necessary convince our politicians that the policies of hte Fed Reserve and the US Government are not benefiting the poor and middle classes.
Obamacare is one little bone that is being thrown to the poor and less fortunate, but the Tea Party wingnuts and Fox News Crazies are in rabid mode to destroy it for their rich pay masters.
What we need is to take out down some of these rich 1% fat cats and have a couple of riots in the streets of New York to wake up the population as to how the poor are being kept poor by the rich.
WHAT DO YOU PROPOSE TO DO TO FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS WE HAVE WITH OUR BROKEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM?
Republicans are big on complaining about ACA but short on their own solutions. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
What did the Republicans propose to help with these previous problems with health care (I forget what they were proposing):
- people who were denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions
- people who were cancelled coverage due to disease or illness onset
- children who were dumped off policies once they turned 18
- people who lost healthcare when policy spending limits were hit
- total lack of any preventative care
- substandard policies that did not have basic items covered like prescription drug, hospital, etc.
- runaway healthcare cost inflation which was between 6-10% each year and uncontained
I could go on and on with all the problems with what we had before. So, rather than bellache about the shortcomings of Obamacare, how about helping to make it work better? I can't stand Republicans these days. Just want to help the rich and don't give a damn about the poor and middle class millions who ACA is aimed to help.
northvisitor - everything in this country revolves around the rich having bought their politicians employing them to do their bidding in beating down any new cost to themselves. We know that ACA is going to be paid for by the wealthy. There is nothing wrong with the richest 1 or 5% who are SO MUCH RICHER these days due to the Fed Reserve policies which have directly benefited them.
But do you think they are willing to share their wealth with the poor and middle class who essentially earn peanuts now on their savings accounts?
For the life of me, I have no idea how 90-95% of Americans can't see this basic fact and cut through the #$%$ that Fox News Crazies spit out to confuse them.
If you vote in this country for anyone except a Democrat, you are voting against your own self interest. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.
I think even Ronnie would have shaken his head that we are the only large industrialized western nation who does not have a health care program for its population that is government sponsored and operated.
We must not foget that it took many years for Medicare (1965) to get the kinks smoothed out. Also, the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIPs) also took years to get right. So why shouldn't ACA also take some years to get working?
Of course, the Republican attack dogs and their media handlers are foaming at the mouth with rabies to bad mouth every little glitch in Obamacare.
But when I ask my republican friends, what was their solution for the uninsured who have pre-existing conditions, had their insurance canceled due to illness, could not afford it, are young adults without healthcare -- they have no answer.
The official Republican position is to oppose a reasonable solution to our many health care problems like Obamacare, but DO NOTHING to solve the problems on their own.
IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION -- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!!!
Way to offer a cogent believable argument based on facts....that will take you far in life.
Don't believe this #$%$ out of the GOP that they are trying to protect this country from socialism and promote capitlism and libertarian style free markets.......IT'S ALL ABOUT PROTECTING THE WEALTHY AND MAKE THEM WEALTHIER STILL.
That's what is behind their effort to defund Obama care. Who is going to pay for Obamacare? Mostly the rich since they pay 40% of taxes. That's the rub. They don't want the poor to get health care which will mostly be paid by the rich.
Now do you understand? So, if you are not the top 5% of Americans in income, stop working against your own self interests and vote democratic. After 30 years of voting Republican, I voted for Obama this last election and am very happy right now.
I am against the debt as much as anybody, and believe we do need to make cuts in spending, but also the rich need to pay much, much more in taxes and revenue. You look at who is making so much more money these days since the Great Recession ended, and you see it is the rich who own stocks that are at record high levels. And those American Corporations that are making record profits need to pay more.
No, taking away Obamacare, which was the sole purpose of the Tea Party, from the poor and underclass of this country was not right. But there was the Tea Party doing the bidding of the wealthy who want to have all the wealth in this country to themselves.
Listen, the Tea Party is only for the rich, and that would be the very rich like the Koch brothers. If you are not one of the top 1-5% of Americans, why are you supporting the Tea Party agenda? You are working against your own self-interest.
Stop being brainwashed by Fox News Crazies. Turn off Fox and get clued in.
You are either incredibly misinformed, or stupid, or a disciple of Fox News (maybe all three).
If a person has cancer today, they will not be able to get insurance ANYWHERE. That is because no insurance co., in this capitalism at all cost society, will insure a sick person. Period.
But Obamacare requires that they be eligible and covered for any pre-existing condition.
What the difference between Obama care and the Fox News Crazies (many on this board), is that Obama care has compassion and humanity as its principles.
Not the laws-of-the-jungle barbarism capitalists that want to deny these unfortunate Americans their God given right to health care.
I am a republican......voted for two Reagans and four Bushes. Health insurance and health care costs were going through the roof and the system was broke for so many years. Everyone knows this if you want to remember history. Both parties had chances to reform and did not until Obama and full democratic control of the Congress.
Now, Obama care is law. And tested and passed by the Supreme court. Give it a chance to work. Let's see if the reforms help all of us, especially the uninsured who were totally at the mercy of the greedy health insurance industry CEO's who would not insure pre-existing conditions, capped benefits, threw kids off of policies, canceled coverage when people got sick, etc. Obamacare makes all this illegal.....as it should be.
If the Republicans do not allow Obamacare to go forward, I will NEVER EVER VOTE FOR ANOTHER REPUBLICAN.
You can listen to just about any speech by Obama and compare to "W" Bush. There is no comparison in basic intelligence......Obama is head and shoulders smarter than W Bush. It is not even close. No way is Bush 30 IQ points smarter than Obama. We were the laughingstock of the world with Bush and his stupid rhetoric.
This is just another example of Republican lies.
Everyone, please vote for Demos in 2014 and don't forget to vote for Hillary in 2016. We need more and more democratics in power to counteract these Republican liars with their rich billionaire backing like the Koch Brothers.
I have voted Republican for every presidential election since 1980......but switched to Obama in 2012. I woke up during and following the Great Recession, when I finally realized the Republicans are only interested in protecting the rich (top 10%) and the rich corporations. The 90% of our population should vote for the party that actually cares about them......that would be the Democratic party.
If you're not rich, stop being brainwashed by the Fox News Crazies and wake up too.
The ACA has not even taken hold, and Republicans with their Tea Party backers are making up every sort of horror story about Obamacare to inflame the gullible public.
So what is their horror story about how many kids who are staying on their parents plan up to age 26? Thisis very popular and is working well. Even the lying Republicans cannot find a horror story about this aspect of Obamacare.
And of course some of the younger folks will pay more.....that is what an insurance pool is all about. Today, these youngsters ether don't have insurance, or sign up for a bare bones plan. So what would happen if they got hurt and ended up on the emergency room before? Those are the real horror stories.
Today with Obamacare, they will be forced to sign up for a decent insurance plan. Sure, it will cost them more. But it is a better plan than what they had and will be there in the case they have an accident or injury.
I am sick to death about the Republican attempt to kill Obamacare before it is even born.....we are the only large developed industrial country who does not offer universal healthcare. It's about time we joined the 21st century.
