Forget Apple for a moment, what is going on with Amazon? It is up $110 in the last month. Does anyone think it is getting long in the tooth or does it still have room to run higher.
If you own AMZN, when are you going to sell it?
All of the tech giants are getting very overbought. The heavyweights may fall hard when this market comes down. In the meantime, they may enjoy the Santa Claus rally.
I only do option plays on ISRG. I do not hold a single share. The option plays have been incredibly lucrative since it is typically a high flyer or free faller after an earnings release.
When you're playing with half of the trading profits, your risk is only that of losing some of your profit. If it bears fruit, you have more to play with for the next high flyer earnings release. You would still only be risking profits.
I'm sure you saved many folks from getting beat up on that one. I took a small day-trade at 113 to 114 and change after they reported. It's too risky to hold on to stocks when the market is getting toppy.
Apple may run a bit higher, but the market is hitting a ceiling soon; and so, it makes sense to start taking profits now and wait for a correction.
If we go through the ceiling, then keep partying, but the risk now gets higher as we quickly approach resistance.
Don't hit your head on the ceiling. That's all I'm saying.
I closed out the position.
Even though I think BABA will beat on earnings, the guidance for next quarter is a big jump. I would still bet on a pop after earnings.
I sold because QQQ is hitting close to resistance levels. Also, SPY is knocking on resistance soon too. BABA is very near a short-term top. The risk just increases at these levels.
Good luck to you.
Chinese stocks are booming today for obvious reasons. I have a huge profit on a $75 Oct 30 call on BABA.
Would you take the profit or hold through earnings? The charts say that BABA will top out soon, but with earnings approaching, we could throw the charts out of the window.
Forget Apple, the markets are tanking and my grocery list is getting bigger. I'm not biting much here, but I'm chewing on several plays... one of them being FCX.
Has anyone chewed on FCX? When will it be time to take the first bite?
You are correct. I guess the big man thinks energy is attractive at these levels. I'm also getting ready to begin taking bites in the oil (energy) space. If these drop further, just take bigger bites.
Forget Apple...you can buy today and you can expect others to buy by tomorrow for the dividend.
It's time to plan a good short on TSLA for an earnings play today. Let's get a free Model X.
Expenses will likely knock the stock down hard after earnings. I'm a bit concerned about guidance though.
Forget Apple....My mouth has started watering for some oil. What do you guys think about taking my first drink of XOM (Exxon) around these levels. If it falls lower, I would just buy pyramid style.
I do understand that things are rough for oil right now (China slowdown, oversupply, increased rig count, etc), but at these levels, do you fault me for being a little thirsty?
